I love the way Guy changed 'lineman' to 'linesman' in the first line. Now, instead of imagining some poor bloke working in the middle of some barren expanse in Witchita, I'm now imagining some bloke with a flag running up and down the touchline at a Derby County home game.
I'd think Guy sang the lyric "I am a _linesman_ for the county" (not lineman) on purpose as some kind of nod to football. But then he's not exactly much of a footy fan...
Other sports have linesmen. For example tennis. Ice hockey too (but that seems too odd for Guy). American Football. Maybe Badminton? Anyway, not just footy. Best Wishes. ☮
