And nope XD I always thought I was just a normal kid who liked normal things.. never really crossed my mind that what I liked was perceived as nerdy ^^; As I always thought: nerdy = liking science and math stuff
I'm a bit older than you are. When I was a kid growing up, any sort of game outside of sports were considered nerdy. That included card games, board games, and of course, all videogames. I embraced it all. It also included anything non-domestic. 'You like something made in Japan? You're a NERD!' At that time in the mid 90s, anime virtually didn't exist outside Japan. Anything anime related was super niche, requiring you to go to specific import shops and pay high prices for low quality subtitled shows like Slayers and Ranma 1/2, but even at around age 10 I knew I was into this stuff like crazy, and people would call me a nerd for just simply knowing the word "anime". It didn't help that the first wave of dubbed anime was literally stuff like La Blue Girl so even though I was like 10, if anyone _had_ heard of anime the association was "Japanese tentacle schoolgirl porn cartoons". It took a while for that stigma to go away, and then the Pokemon craze exploded. I was onboard right away, but eventually I saw other kids playing it on their GameBoys, talking about the anime without even realizing it was anime, and finding more acceptance towards Japanese media. I don't think anime and games are considered by default, nerdy anymore now that they are sorta all encompassing. Even the "cool kids" in highschool play videogames now and have access to stuff like crunchyroll. None of that was true for me back in the day!
Same here tbh.. Anime up until today isn't really something THAT well known in the Netherlands. I mean.. I luckily didn't get called a flat out nerd or geek. But.. You can tell that people in high school rather don't want to be an outsider. Which is why people generally are more heitent to get to know you if you've got really "weird" hobbies. Hmm.. Games and such indeed are a lot more accepted nowadays yeah. As for anime.. Not really.. Here it's still considered something.. Nerdy.. Unless you attend an IT course at college of course. But outside of that, it's still a rather obscure thing.
That headdesk segment was my favorite part. The sound fit so well and was excellently timed. I certainly wasn't expecting the explosion sound at the end of that....

I'm following the same course Yuunarii does so let me explain: Some (let's say 50%) students just get out of high school and don't have any programming knowledge and can basically only work with Word, Powerpoint and a bit of Excel. The whole first semester you are basically figuring out how folder structure works and how the fuck the IDE (Visual Studio) even works. You then fail the semester with still very little programming knowledge and have to restart it. When you restart it, it's still pretty difficult, but at least you know how the IDE and folder structure works better so you after a lot of frustrating coding sessions you just about succeed the semester.
This is the first Dutch youtuber I found that wasn't either a gaming channel or vlog channel, feels nice to see that not all dutch-tubers are clones of eachother.
I wonder how will your friends react to this video, and the amount of effort that was put into it... i really enjoyed it as well! keep going, i really love this!
They really really liked it I think ^^ Sadly I wasn't able to show it to them at college anymore, seeing how the semester is sorta over now. It was really funny watching them record their audio lines for the video. We have this little audio booth at college where you can record some good quality audio, so.. I decided to use it during our pre-final college week ^^ Plus I drew a lot of their anime versions while at college, so they could closely follow the progress ^^

I actually do the same thing you described that John guy doing. After studying or working on something for a while I always like to take a stroll around my neighborhood or hike to relax and process whatever I've been doing. Make me overall a happier person I think.

At 5:25, that one really hits home with me too. It’s so rare that I can find someone that understands the topic that I really would like to talk about, but I’m almost out of high school anyways.
Yeah.. Initially I was like: "I'm gonna keep it simple by only making little overlay parts with their faces on it, and a title card. Probably gonna take about 3 days or so to do.." Ended up taking 1,5 to 2 weeks to edit... Due to college deadlines also being around that particular time XD But I'm really happy with the way they turned out ^^

I recently discovered your channel, and I'm already in love with everything you upload! Right now I'm not at school because I just finished doing MBO 3 in IT (Yup, I'm dutch too!) and am attending the GLR soon, so I'm having this 'inbetween' year which I used to get 2 minor jobs for experience (Actually just money) and did loads of things during my free time. I tried making electronic music but I didn't like it, so I went back to the one thing that keeps my head not foggy and an utter chaos: Drawing. Drawing has helped me throughout my life to keep myself calm and not panicking. The last 2 years I didn't draw as much as I normally would because I simply had less time and more responsibilities during my IT course, but I've recently picked it up again because aside from Team Fortress 2 and Stardew Valley I don't have anything to do. -unless Student aan Huis doesn't fuck me over with two appointments that are 10 kilometres apart from each other and I need an hour to get from one to the other- I wouldn't say I'm bad, but I've heard others say I'm doing a very good job at it when they see my sketches. I'm a bit of a weeb myself as well (Tokyo Ghoul, Death note, Muromi-san on the shore are just some of my favs), and really like Pokémon, Sonic and in general just cheery and colourful games (aside from maaaybe Saints Row IV?). I hope you'll keep creating content for as long as possible! -If you wanna see some of the stuff I made, just ask! Though don't feel pressured-

Vietnam flashbacks effect us all. I remember once I had to do an economics essay at the beginning of the year. Winter break crept and all I hear is, "your essays are due at midnight, this will make or break your grade." I henceforth spent the day in the same face as that hamster/ gerbil.
I had only one year of enjoying college and standing toe to toe with my peers. After three years of adulting I am going back. Man real life is boring and depressing.

I just graduated from High School, like a month ago and it was total hell in a similar way for me. I'm pretty hopeful for college now after this since it really seems like it's a much healthier environment than high schools tend to be.
Hmm.. I guess it sorta depends on what sort of college course you'll be following. Generally IT courses tend to hold A LOT of geeks and weebs (I'd say about.. 70% is either a geek or weeb). But yeah it's definitely better than high school in terms of social atmosphere ^^

The last 2 years I didn't draw as much as I normally would because I simply had less time and more responsibilities during my IT course, but I've recently picked it up again because aside from Team Fortress 2 and Stardew Valley I don't have anything to do. -unless Student aan Huis doesn't fuck me over with two appointments that are 10 kilometres apart from each other and I need an hour to get from one to the other-
I wouldn't say I'm bad, but I've heard others say I'm doing a very good job at it when they see my sketches.
I'm a bit of a weeb myself as well (Tokyo Ghoul, Death note, Muromi-san on the shore are just some of my favs), and really like Pokémon, Sonic and in general just cheery and colourful games (aside from maaaybe Saints Row IV?).
I hope you'll keep creating content for as long as possible!

Vietnam flashbacks effect us all. I remember once I had to do an economics essay at the beginning of the year. Winter break crept and all I hear is, "your essays are due at midnight, this will make or break your grade." I henceforth spent the day in the same face as that hamster/ gerbil.

I just graduated from High School, like a month ago and it was total hell in a similar way for me. I'm pretty hopeful for college now after this since it really seems like it's a much healthier environment than high schools tend to be.
Hmm.. I guess it sorta depends on what sort of college course you'll be following. Generally IT courses tend to hold A LOT of geeks and weebs (I'd say about.. 70% is either a geek or weeb). But yeah it's definitely better than high school in terms of social atmosphere ^^
