Anyone who doesn't feel Sineads pain, is already dead inside. Great reaction, peace.
I went out with a sociopath and he didn't like her voice
@@celesteteacher3956 He couldn't feel the emotion right?
My boss was a sociopath / psychopath. I couldn't work out which
@@booshallmighty exactly, he said to me, you probably like her voice because there is so much emotion in it, but it does nothing for me because she doesn't have a great voice.
@@celesteteacher3956 That doesn't mean everyone who dislikes this song or her voice is s sociopath though. It could just be a matter of personal taste, and that's ok.
Excellent
Prince wrote it, Chris Cornell may have sung it later, but this is THE version of this song. No.1 in the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Italy etc. etc. etc. and in the US, where Billboard called it 'The No1 World Single of 1990'.
You said it Neil. Her version is the one, even though it's almost impossible to beat Prince at his game. Me personally I can not stand Chris Cornell's singing. By all, accounts he was a top guy, and had a powerful range. But his version grates on me.
Her version is the best IMO, Chris is good as well. Prince's "cinematic mix version" of the song is his best version.
I still can’t listen to Chris cover of this..
@@mztweety1374 Tears fall everytime. RIP CC
Absolutely a 100%.
Nothing compares:)
This is by far the best version of this song ever recorded. Her vocals in this are practically perfect.
Agreed 100%
And the 1st one to be recorded.
I came home late one night in 90 and turned on MTV, this came on and I remember standing in front of the TV in total AWE. By the end of the song I found myself on my knees just a couple of feet from the TV with tears in my eyes. It was an incredible experience. I wish I could see it again for the first time.
Same, late night channel surfing and this was on. It left a very noticed silence when the video ended.
Me too....i was in tears...unforgettable
me too. i was 18, in Dublin, Ireland, hanging out with school friends watching MTV. This came on, and although we all knew Sinead from 'Mandinka' this literally floored us. it was a benchmark moment in my life when I realized how powerful music could be and what a genius Sinead was.
Fuckn a.
Sure Jan.
Beautiful and courageous. People back then weren’t ready for her.
Us hippies in Australia were, she got me into irish traditional music and I lived there for 20 years.
Yes skinhead beautiful face and voice. Way ahead of her time.
Nooo they were not. Everybody cried while they jerked off to the song but they all wanted to be petty and give her shit for shaving her head and not wearing make up. That's the most brave a straight woman can be sometimes I think. Everybody slept on her and disregarded the soul
And now they cant remember her!
And she told the truth about the Catholic Church and they burned her at the stake for it. Come to find out she was right in the end.
Man, what a beautiful face! Sinead has had more than her fair share of mental health struggles. I wish her the best.
Jayy I found you your show about six weeks ago your show is the first thing I check daily when I get online. Your attitude and your spirit listening to songs that you have never heard before watching your emotions and how dedicated you are to music makes me smile from ear-to-ear. Please don't ever change you are an amazing young lady keep up the good work.
I saw her singing with Peter Gabriel and I got a very close look at her. I think she was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in the flesh, she glowed, it was extraordinary.
Just on the outside.. ♣W.G.
I heard she found solace in islam and seems to be in a good headspace.
she really was BEAUTIFULL in the essence of the word.....that FACE + EYES......i must admit i dont normally find the shaved head on women attractive as i go for that tradional long hair feminine look but on Sinead it actually doesnt bother me as im always captivated by her beauty.....and of course her voice was pure heaven! herself and Dolores O Riordan of the Cranberries (both Irish women) were very similar in both beautify and voice though also having their own unique identities......infact now that i think of it Andrea Corr + Moira Brennan.............somthing about irish/celtic women and that natural beauty!
As an Irish person I'm very proud of that performance and happy that it still touches people today.
All the flowers that you planted... MAMA,,,, in the backyard 😢😢😢😢😢. I'm Every cry❤
One of the most raw and honest performances I've ever seen. I like her version better than the original by Prince or any that have followed. I mean they're great but Sinead owns this song.
Prince wrote this for her...
@@bonepicker1 no he didn't, he wrote for his side project The Family and recorded it in 1985, Sinead did it in 1990
@@kicknpost I stand corrected...
.lol better than Prince lol.
When a singer makes Chris Cornell look ordinary - and Chris was a fabulous vocalist - then you know you are onto something special.
Written by Prince who himself I believe said that Sinead owned this song with her version and before this video was filmed unfortunately Sinead's mother had passed away so the raw emotion and the tears that fall are the reason why💔
Absolutely - her channelling all that emotion and the stare out to camera on the 'To You' chills me every time and I can feel the tears starting - such a powerful emotive singer
Prince did, well what Prince does with songs, wrote a beautiful one, and Sinead just knocked it out of the park.
He also tried to beat her up, so there's that.
I guess that's why the only part of the female/male lyrics she didn't change was the line about "Momma" and her plants dying after she went away. 😪
ruclips.net/video/_H1DsWsKLE8/видео.html
seems legit.........
This song has made me emotional ever since it came out.
And I am a long haired metal head.
Real talk... Sitting here in my bolt thrower t-shirt!! 😅
I thought you are supposed to be made of steel!
For feal. Im 39 this april. This song got me as a kid, and it still gets me every SINGLE time. Its the AMAZING and beautiful thing about music. It transcends into the metaphysical. The group consciousness. Such a unifying phenomena.
And judging by ur name a super hero sorry I had to
reibiliúnach bean sí guth anam na hÉireann 🍀🇮🇪
Sinéad’s voice emotes the soul of this island. A true Irish rebel to boot
Sinéad is my favorite singer and you got that right, she is THE emotional singer.
To be fair everything that is, was, and ever will be Sinead O'Conner is emotional.
Sinead was cancelled in the 90s for something that today would not be considered controversial at all. She tore a picture of the Pope in half on Saturday Night Live in protest of the Catholic Church. She had one of the best voices that has ever been recorded.
Until that point the catholic diocese and the pope were untouchable and could do no wrong, but after john paul died in the early 2000s, all the nasty stories they had swept under the rug started to come into the light...
I remember when that happened. I was 6. I loved her then. I didn't know she'd not be making more music.
I hate cancel culture at any time
@@julieb3996 Nobody is interested in what you hate.
She has suffered so much and for so long. Such a hard life, so much struggle with mental health, abuse, her son, her cancelling in the 90s... Fibromyalgia to top it all off. Too much for one human being to deal with.
The Irish have a gift at pulling at heart strings
True that! Nothing like an Irish voice!
i agree
@@dallaschris111 Sinead, Enya, Bono...
This one hits different. The feeling in this song, the emotion and the heartache hit home. She is beautiful and a force of nature. Best version!! Glad you experienced it.
For a little country on the edge of Europe like Ireland, Proud we have so much talent to give to the World
Irish -Strong -Brave - Beautiful intelligent people that have been Persecuted for hundreds of years and still remain deeply Faithful to God and Jesus his Beloved son
Give so much talent 🤣🤣 wouldn’t go that far
Amazing little country! From a Spaniard living in the UK. If I could, I'd live in Ireland.
She delivers this song with pure despair and heartbreak. Like, the worst kind of heartbreak. Her emotions make the delivery spot on.😭
As a 17 year old lad at the time this video came out it was hard not to fall in love with this woman ,beautiful face ,amazing voice and that tear drop near the end of the video is heartbreaking x
This is undoubtedly THE definitive version.
Wow. First time hearing that. EMOTIONAL.........TEARS! Sinead performed that song flawlessly.
What shreds my heart is the part where she sings "I know living with your baby was sometimes hard..." the sheer heartbreak and anguish in her face. If you ever read her childhood background you'd know her mother was an abusive monster to her, at times with her as a little girl lying on the ground with her mother's foot on her belly telling her how worthless she was. Yet Sinead's deep pain from not being able to stop loving her monster mother. It's heartbreaking. Can't imagine what she went and goes through.
Her voice is so beautiful and haunting at the same time. She brings out so much emotion that it feels like her voice reaches in and pulls your heart out.
❤
I'm here on July 28, 2023, two days after Sinead left this world. She had a way of making he pain and emotions come out when she sang. Good singers sing notes, but great ones make you believe them when they sing. This version was a humongous hit back when I was in high school, and when that tear dropped in the music video, everyone felt it.
Sinead dealt with depression for most of her life, so perhaps the way that she felt emotions intensely helped her to convey those emotions more deeply when she sang. Regardless, she will be missed. R.I.P.
This song goes right through you; we have all been there. This IS writing. This IS raw emotion brought forth from a truly gifted singer.....what an era of music that we will never see again.
Prince is one of the greatest song writers of all time. Thanks Jayy.
and a horrible man too, a women's beater, who abuses his own half brother.
If this song doesn't give u goosebumps all over, there's np hope for u! I cry evry time and I must have heard it a few thousand times.
She bled Prince's words.
You said it all.
Great analogy
ACCURATE!
Inside secret...when I was young and heard this for the first time, I locked my little eyes to the tv screen and fell in love. Haha!!!
Sinead was so beautiful here, her face and her vulnerability. This song makes me think of my beautiful sister, miss her every single day.💔😞
it is impossible not to be moved by this song ... I repeat it several times and I can't get enough !!!
You should listen to her doing this live, it’s honestly incredible
You're SO right. I was just floored seeing that.
@@tragicdeyz2641 it floors me every time I watch it
I agree, her behaviour is somewhat odd, however her talent is phenomenal 🖖🏻🇨🇦💥
Her live version is amazing.
The. Love your reaction. It was good to see her again. Thx
She had the most haunting and beautiful voice and I always loved that when the record company wanted to “package” her as a pop princess, she shaved her head in response. Her mental health struggles have been heartbreaking to watch over the years.
"She's just as beautiful as she sounds." That's a great way of putting it and very accurate.
3:30 Realness. Real emotion is beautiful. Thank you for sharing with all of us.
This version went all the way to #1 in the USA in 1990. I was about to graduate from high school. It's one of my top 3 favorite songs ever recorded!!! I listened to the others one time, but I can't listen to them anymore. This version still brings me to tears almost 31 years after it came out.
This was a beautiful reaction... i jad tears in my eye watching you listen to this.. good job Mrs x
This woman was & is AMAZING! Truly doesn't get the respect she deserves.
She’s got one of those instantly recognisable voices and such a pure and gorgeous sound too ...... she has had so many struggles and I hope she’s in a better mental place now xxxx
You should listen to Mandinka too ....... stunning track
brilliant tume👍👍
She was under appreciated I always felt. Beautiful voice and person.
She was set for superstardom until she ripped up a picture of the Pope on US tv......she was blacklisted. She is probably owed an apology for what subsequently came to light.
I was driving when this came on the radio. I turned the car around, went to the record store and bought it. I'd never done anything like it before it since. I had just met my now husband, who had the same reaction, and it's still our song. Just the first note makes me smile.
I don't care who else might sing this. No matter how well they do, nothing will ever compare to this!
Ah Sinead. Absolute artist. Love, love, love her.
I read that this song was dedicated to her Mama, with whom she suffered terrible child abuse from. This woman really has been “thru it” I wish her nothing but sweet loving Irish Blessings!
Even a pseudo metal-head like I was back then, I was hit hard by this song. Everyone has heartbreak no matter who you are and this was a perfect expression of it.
The video of her singing... was done in one shot... no re-shooting...just full on, perfect .
This song is absolutely amazing, Sinead O'Connor made this song bleed with her vocals...
Hauntingly beautiful...such talent...great reaction 🇨🇦🖖🏻💥
Every time I see this video, it makes me want to reach out and give her a tight hug- and I’m not a hugger. I remember reading that when she sang this, she was reminded of her mother who had recently passed and the tears just naturally began during filming. She hadn’t intended to start crying, but it just happened. I’m glad that they didn’t just discard that take and go for another. It wouldn’t have been so powerful and iconic. Sinead has had a lot of mental health troubles and sadness in her life and people were less accepting in those days. It’s such a shame as I’d love to hear more from her.
Sinaed always hardhitting with emotions...love this and Mandinka. 2 songs I can listen to over and over. Great reaction..thankyou❤
I was 16 in 1990 and let me tell you, this was the best break up angsty song for my tender little teen heart.
Tragic life of the fantastic Irish singer Sinead!! Sounds like an angell? Well unfortunately she now is!!😢😢😢❤❤❤
Such a great song. And what an amazing and unique voice. The song was a a big hit when it came out. It reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. Great reaction!
Sinead owns this. She brings an anger to the song and also a very hurting vibe. It's so raw, this song makes me cry every time.
Love love love this version . I watched your eyes because I knew she would tug you soul. You can hear her heartbreak in her beautiful voice. One of my true favorites. She has the voice of a saddened angel. Thank you for reviewing it and playing it.
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling this was favorite of my sisters my road dogs there all gone now DaaaaaaM New Year’s Eve my bestie left too this song is what you make it!!!
Amazing singer... she is super talented. You can feel every word she sings❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My God, I feel so blessed to have witnessed this talent when she gave us her heart and soul.❤️✌️
The lady sings a song opening her heart and soul to the world, and it takes its toll on the performer. Her voice is that of an angel with a fully exposed human heart !
This Song!!! Okay, there are songs that make you stop and listen - that change the mood of a room - that take over the radio media ... This song was that one for years!!! Others have recorded it, even the writer Prince, but when Sinead did this song it was a wrap!!!! From the first note I get chills and I think about lost loves!!
Classic!!!
I always get emotional watching this video, and chills like nowhere else. Her face transcribing them feelings... :3 And those eyes...
I remember the first time I seen this video. Wow it blew my mind ...her voice is so beautiful
One of the best songs ever... I love Sinead's Celtic touches to it.
A beautiful voice. A heartbreaking performance and the most beautiful eyes to ever look into a camera.
Prince wrote it but Sinead killed it. Best version. 1991, I remember when it came out. She's a beautiful Irish angel
I remember when this song and video first came out and I was watching it on MTV and completely mesmerized by her sheer beauty. She is a beautiful woman and she sings with this passion I mean oh my god this song is amazing.
Girl, you reacted to this the way I did when I first saw it!! Some songs are so powerful that you remember every little detail of the first time you heard it... and Sinead nailed it with this one!
Flashback to the 80's with me...
I was just casually walking into the living room on my way out to who knows where, Mom was in the kitchen and, as always, MTV playing on the set. I came into the room just as the song started and was frozen to the spot, speechless standing in the middle of the room. As tears filled my eyes, I fell to my knees softly and just sat there, staring at her beautiful face and feeling the power of her beautiful Irish voice and all the emotions laid bare by of song. Sinead is a Goddess with a golden angelic voice. She sings this song with so much emotion and power and sincerity that's it's hard to believe she didn't write it. (Even knowing that Prince wrote it, I still feel this way when I hear Sinead. She simply owns this song.)
Mom was also frozen in the spot, standing at the sink, her face damp with tears. It was so very powerful. Sinead's rendition of this gorgeous song strikes one to the core and wakes up all the memories hidden there.
I consider this song to be the pinnacle of Sinead's work but she has so much much more. Please continue seeking her work, you will be glad you did. Start with "No Mans Woman", "Thank You For Hearing Me", "This is The Last Day of Our Acquaintance", "Black Boys on Mopeds", and "I'm Stretched on You Grave"... then keep going from there. Sinead is an amazing singer and songwriter, a true force to be reckoned with. And she needs our love.
You need to hear her entire body of work... Everyone does.
Peace. 💖💖💖
90's but goodness, you also made me cry remembering this beautiful soul who was powerful and too pure for this world.
Sinead is a beautiful singing angel 👼
Her voice is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Especially live, although this recorded version is so good.
Thank you for honoring her ❤
Her tears weren’t planned, that’s how powerful this song is!
I love your facial expressions. You FEEL the music and lyrics.
Know that everyone of us listening with you are shedding a tear also!
Sinead is gone now - but her Heart & Soul will live forever through her music - RIP Sinead....!
Prince wrote it. Sinead does an INCREDIBLE job on it !! Love it! ♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
I'm right there w you!!! Sinead even teared up towards the end. I love the reaction her voice and words had on you.
You feel the sorrow and heartache in her beautiful voice...she sings of that hurt that most woman have suffered in our lives...to love someone and have them walk away...they are gone and living their life's...yet a woman's heart cant seem to move on...we try to move on yet the heart will all ways remember and ache...I believe every woman has someone in their past that still haunts their souls with memories...
Sinead was the only one I’ll ever like doing this song. RIP Sinead. I hope you found peace 😢
He mum had passed shortly beforehand, they had a complicated relationship , you can see her crying during the song. She has one of those elfin faces , any hair or none would suit her !
She has stated that everyone interprets the song into there own way and this one is about her mother who abused her and was a love hate relationship,
she desperately wanted a better relationship with her mother and then her mother died in a car accident in 1985,
this song in her own way and her own interpretation is about her mother thats why she chose it,
she has openly said that she thinks of her mum when she sings this and the tears are real from the emotions of singing about her
This is a masterpiece in every way video very clever drawing people in up close for them to feel what shes feeling
Incredible remarkable unique so many fantastic words to decribe this and still not enough
MASTERPIECE AND ICONIC AND INNOVATIVE
Incredible has that same impact it did then and same impact now, even people that never heard it or heard of her to young etc, even new generation are blown away
SIMPLY SUPERB
REST IN PEACE BEAUTIFUL SINEAD
Your with your son now both at peace
Sinead's version is by far the absolute best simply because of the emotional range involved over a break up with someone. The anger that boils underneath with everyone around you telling you to "get on with your life' and yet you are emotionally stuck in that "remorse" that you simply can't get out of.
Because of this, her version isn't attempting to be "romantic" in nature, but more of an "emotional outcry" of lost love and lost time to recover from lost love. And if you have ever had a bad break up, or a break up with someone who you realize too late that you didn't want to break up in the first place, her version has far more impact. Even decades later, I still hear this song and instantly have feelings for 2 different girlfriends over the years.
Yeah Sinead pretty much owns this song. Sad, sad, sad song. Great reaction
this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever! thanks for sharing Jayy :)
40 years ago when they put this on MTV ...we were blown away
Her first album The Lion and The Cobra is incredible. Give 'Troy', 'Mandinka', 'Jackie', 'Just Like You Said It Would Be' a listen, astonishing vocals and emotions. She tears her heart out and makes you look.
Sinead has so many incredible performances, including a large catalogue of less commercially popular tunes. From old school Irish/Gaelic tunes to classic American songs and so much more, Sinead rocks them all.
Cornell beautifully sang a sad song, Prince sang it emotionally, Sinead brought a desperation and vulnerability that just connects on a deeper level.
Nothing left she puts it all out for the world to see
Honesty always prevails!
Although it killed her in the end. But so grateful for her short existence.
Greetings from Ireland. Sinead was possibly the most beautiful sounding and looking girl in the world back then.
I think she was the most beautiful woman from this until she passed.
One of the best voices I've ever heard. Absolutely chill-inducing in me to this day. I first heard her in 1987. The Lion and The Cobra. Check that album out for sure. The first song, Jackie: I was gone right away. Incredible performer when she's firing on all cylinders. So cool that people are still appreciating her. ❤️
In love with Sinead since the 1980s.
Me too, can't stop loving her even after her passing. My longest relationship was with a woman who looked very much like her.
Ireland still has a ton of pride in this singer. Sinead has generally been forgotten in America though, because of the passage of time. She was a super talent, and definitely worth review.
Because of self-delusion thinking the Catholic Church was not abusing children when she denounced it more than the passage of time. She was also set up and made to look like she hated America in the 90s.
Such a beautiful face & soul love how she touches that human place
This is my wife's site but I'm usually on here watching the "reactors" and Jayy you're one of my favorites! When this song was released I had just been told, by my fiance of almost three years, to hit the road. I was devastated to say the least. I had a going on 7 year old son that lived with his mom and my fiance had three kids from her marriage. I thought everything was good. I had just started a new job, I treated her children as if they were my own and there wasn't anything I wouldn't do for her and the kids. I did most of the cleaning, all the grocery shopping, and all the cooking since she didn't get off of work till six in the evening. It was to no avail. She finally confessed to me one day in August of 1988 that she was still in love with, not her ex-husband, but her ex-boyfriend that she had dumped before me. I was crushed! I'm a Vietnam vet, watched my mom die at the age of forty-one, two weeks after my high school graduation. And two weeks before I left for the military in 1969. Nothing compared or prepared me for her telling me to leave. I rarely cry but I completely broke down. That was in 1988 and I focused all my energy to being the best dad I could be for my son and it paid off. He joined the Army, after high school, spent three years in the active Army then another year in the Guard. He is now a firefighter for the city of Chicago and a terrific man, in my opinion. In 1993 a former Russian immigrant that came to America became my boss. Best supervisor I ever had, hands down. We had our desks in the same office and had become very good friends. One day she said, "you know I liked you from the first time we met. You're honest, detailed, know your job and very considerate. But one thing has always puzzled me. I know you aren't married and you don't even have a girlfriend and at first no matter how much you joked around, I could feel your sadness, what happened?" I finally told her and at first she got tears in her eyes and then she composed herself and said,"Bitch, she didn't deserve you!" I just laughed but I stayed single for 22 years until I met someone that made me finally forget about her. And I thank God every day for my current wife! She's a little crazy but hell, so am I! LOL!!
You are still standing !!! I share your pain, anyways. It's good to be alive
I hope you gave the entire album a chance, it's fantastic!
Sinead has a voice like nobody else. To get a really good idea of what her voice can do, listen to "Troy" or "I Want Your". The way she can slide up and down is amazing.
I've always thought it sounds like she's harmonizing with herself as she sings, like she has 3 or 4 different voices simultaneously - incredible,
2 of my favorites too! Sinead is so amazing.
