Holy shit, i just looked it up and i never knew this before now. This was filmed on November 17th 1993, and you know what was filmed the next day November 18th 1993? Nirvana Unplugged! They were literally filmed withen 24 hrs of one another!! Thats mind blowing! Why isnt that mentioned more?
The Unplugged series was the coolest thing MTV ever did. A lotta really cool material came from that series. The STP edition is one of the more underrated editions of the series. This song in particular is awesome because its a pretty big departure from the original. I really like what they did with it.
A lot of people say oh best unplugged was STP ,pearl jam and Nirvana. I'm love them all but Alice n Chains killed it hands down. Such a great era in music unfortunately Heroin has taken our best artist greatly missed rest in peace they sing with angels now.
Great time to be really young! So glad I experienced such great music with bands like STP one of my faves!!!! Miss you Scott! Missed the chance for one final reunion with the your bandmates! What shame. RIP Scott, RIP.
The singing is just amazing. Brings back so many memories. Especially those of the love of my life that passed in late April of heart failure at only 33. I can't listen to these songs without crying my eyes out... we both absolutely loved this music. I hope she's in a better place ❤️
@richoo2010 Scott did not write as much as the DeLeo brothers, sans lyrics. HE took THEM to court over the name, and lost. The DeLeo brothers and Eric Kretz keep the name. Very simple answer. End of argument.....
Kacy Ortiz winning that court case in NO way diminishes what Scott bought to the table! What your small mind will NEVER get is that NO ONE would know who STP is without Scott! The songs Scott wrote/co-wrote are what the band will FOREVER be known for! As a matter of fact, they wouldn’t be able to give tickets away to their shows if they opted (which they will never do) not to play/perform the songs from the #ScottEra! The ONLY songs worth listening to are the ones from the #ScottEra! #RIPScott
I love STP im glad I got to see them. Unplugged was the most brilliant concept mtv ever did.. that wnd yo mtv raps 👍🏻💯 just brilliant ideas. Among others... Headbangers ball was good. I miss the 90s and MTV sadly missed 🙏🏻 rest easy Scott🎤 you were great man.
this rendition showcases Scott's en pointe vocals..and the entire band really. These MTV Unplugged sessions are gold..AIC comes to mind also. Gen X brah 🤘 🏂🏄🛹
Totally agree with those below who find this a great version of the song. Granted that the changed chorus is a bit weird, if you take it on its own, but here it contrasts so well with the rest of the song, and creates a great dynamic. They clearly put some thought into how to adapt the song acoustically. The whole thing is so uplifting, and still sounds really fresh
The thing so sad to me is to see Scott how he looked and sounded here and to see how drugs wore him down later and eventually took his life. I love this performance but it's a reminder of that. That's the power of music it takes us back to that place where we were sipping orange blossom breezes..
Two divorces, brother died, mom and dad with cancer. Away from his children. Having to tour so often to pay the bills. It's not always the drugs, but those make good headlines
Can you see like a child? Can you see what I want? I wanna run through your wicked garden That's the place to find ya 'Cause I'm alive So alive now I know the darkness blinds you Can you see without eyes? Can you speak without lies? I wanna drink from your naked fountain I can drown your sorrows I'm gonna burn, burn you to life now Out of the chains that bind you Can you see just like a child? Can you see just what I want? Can I bring you back to life? Are you still alive? Burn, burn, burn Burn your wicked garden down Burn, burn, burn Burn your wicked garden to the ground Can you feel pain inside? Can you love? Can you cry? I wanna run through your wicked garden That's the place to find ya 'Cause I'm alive so Alive now I know the darkness blinds you Can you see just like a child? Can you see just what I want? Can I bring you back to life? Are you still alive? Burn, burn, burn Burn your wicked garden down Burn, burn, burn Burn your wicked garden to the ground
DeLeo Brothers are Jersey boys.. excellent tune.. damn I will always love Scott and his voice.. so sad.. and I just finished his autobiography when he passed away.. I thought he had made it to the other side of addiction.. so sad.. thankfully we have these video's to live on...
This was a great Unplugged show in the realm of grunge, because as much as I loved Nirvana’s and Alice In Chains’ shows, they were both downer shows for unfortunate reasons. STP kept it loose and fun and just showed that they were having a good time. 👍
Scott Weiland, was to me of the only few that could hold a candle to Layne Staley. Sadly both are gone. But for their time, I enjoyed their music so, so much.
Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana and Pearl Jam did the best MTV Unplugged performances. Hands down to all of them! They are legendary! Too sad a lot of the 90's legends have passed away. Grunge as a genre is way more depressing than ever. We lost Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley way too soon, and then Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell didn't make it either. Eddie Vedder is the only one left. My God... I don't want to think about the day I read in the newspaper that he no longer exists. Live in the moment. Peace 'n' love, peeps.
Dont even mention them in the comments section of an STP or Alice in Chains video. Christ, i celebrated when Kurt died, but id rather listen to Nirvana than Pompous Jam
The MTV Unplugged series was groundbreaking. Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana and Alice In Chains were my favourite acoustic gigs. Scott Weiland had an incredible singing voice. Ironically, Weiland, Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley were all heroin addicts who sadly died prematurely.

Damn that’s crazy

I think sometimes we fail to understand how extremely talented bands like these are. These unplugged shows polarized their talent.

Perfect statement.

I agree and I was at the SRV and Satch show then off to the Pier for the real show later in NYC
I agree. I think the Unplugged shows really highlighted how immensely talented these bands were. MTV was so great in the early days.
Great time to be really young! So glad I experienced such great music with bands like STP one of my faves!!!! Miss you Scott! Missed the chance for one final reunion with the your bandmates! What shame. RIP Scott, RIP.
Dude.... the 90s were epic
Had to be there
O man, so many talented musicians and songwriters. Something about that generation.
Anything pre-internet was.
Yeah they were. Saw STP live in St. Louis twice in the 90’s. Never forget seeing Scott sitting in the rocking chair when they first opened.
The singing is just amazing. Brings back so many memories. Especially those of the love of my life that passed in late April of heart failure at only 33. I can't listen to these songs without crying my eyes out... we both absolutely loved this music. I hope she's in a better place ❤️
Glad people are finally giving STP their due. I remember watching this on MTV. 15 years old and my mind was blown
Yup those were the last days of actual real music. I liked STP way more than pearl jam
@@blindmelonstubbly agreed. Sayin PJ is better than STP is like saying Buffalo Springfield is better than Zeppelin.
STP is still underrated and they were so ahead of their time.
One of the greatest vocalists of our generation. It's a shame he's such underrated
this song is still so unbelievably powerful sonically as an acoustic jam...my god. SUCH A GREAT SONG
00:06-00:09 I would like to remember you with that pure and fragile smile, Scott. Hope your soul is in peace now. Love you forever ❤
So much talent in the Seattle area bands. They all hit around that same time- late 1991. Music changed forever.
STP were from San Diego, but yes I agree.
This band is AMAZING live. Holy shit
Possibly the greatest front man of all time. Miss you Scott.
I agree he is my all time favorite musician
Def initely one of the best vocalist of our generation. It's a damn shame that he's underrated for it also.

My comment keeps getting changed. Freaking b.s. youtube.
no , best one is justin bieber
This is the Scott I think of
I was thinking the same thing. I will never forget the sound of his voice.
Same. The voice and look.

+Dean Winchester ...except for how they changed the end of the chorus.

I can’t find the words to aptly describe how brilliant this Unplugged episode was. This is how I choose to remember Scott.

Tempos bons. Assisti esse unplugged logo quando estreou na MTV Brasil.
my fav grunge voice by far.
mine too, the best of all
probably mine too since Alice in chains always insisted on being considered "metal" :p

This is one of the best unplugged performances ever. Damn.
Ya I miss the unplugged and stripped down versions, that is a true test of talent. chains is the best imo But they are all amazing.
Agreed I don't think stp unpleed was that great...but what they did with this song is awesome
will never get sick of watching this and scott. Love you guys! Miss you scott.
I love this song on acoustic so much. Scott killed it. Great performance all around.
debe ser una de las bandas más infravaloradas de la historia
He's running in the wicked garden now. Up there.
I loved this first time I heard this version, one of their best performances! Love you Scott! -Lisa Shelton
Complete Awesomeness!!! Love his voice.....sad that he is now gone. RIP...
Thanks for everything Scott, great voice, great music.... RIP
not old at all, new everytime im lucky enough to hear this poetry!
This is my favorite Scott Weiland
What a singer!!!
The Legend will live forever.
I love how he looked back then a bit chubbier Blondie with the beard
Jojo V. Pretty handsome, huh?
Jojo V. Hii
"chubbier"? 6' and 175lbs lol
The reason you’re using the word “chubby” to describe his appearance is because we’re generally very used to seeing strung out heroin-addicted Scott.
Talk about talent.
hes so interesting to watch
In case someone still minds, this video (with this quality) comes with the extra DVD on the Thank You album
Amazing version... for not to say, the best!
I hadn’t seen this before. Great stuff. These guys are way more talented than what they’ve been given credit for.
This is one of the coolest songs.
Ibreally wish I could write a song like this just once
Love this version the most!
Miss that guy. What a talent. RIP Scott. Wish STP the best with Jeff.
THOSE VOCALS MWAH fuck why was i born after the 90s man
just found out about Scott a few minutes ago. I always hoped there'd be a STP reunion. sad.
One of the most Beautiful, Phenomenal performances of the MTV Unplugged era! I'd put It up there with Alice In Chains, Nirvana and the best of them!
This is why he cant be replaced... Although jeff is a great singer and i really like the new song they came up with, with jeff. Its great really
Fucking amazing. We love and miss you Scott
no one can denny this band generation was the best i miss this years
This was a shining star people. Did we even realize?
Damn, he was good. Studio quality.

we all did, love. He had said in one of his last interviews that he'd been clean for 10+ yrs. Addicts can be extremely convincing, unfortunately...
Awesome fucking song. Thank you STP.
