Show's how important Scouting can be for a young person. From Cub Scout to Sea Explorer's ,and ending with US Naval Sea Cadet. (Boot Camp between sophomore and junior year of High School in San Diego California.) This Video reminded me of the experiences and knowledge I gained from it, and that I used without thinking most of the time throughout my Life. Maybe time i tried to repay it and help the generations behind me.
Thank You and Dustin, (which I subscribed too.) for this video and the excellent memories it brought today.

I currently do an outdoor adventure course at my college a bit up in north Yorkshire and i love the stuff you do, although my course is mostly outdoor sport base ( Kayaking, climbing ect) we do bush craft and camping and to top that im also a part of scouting. iv'e loved your videos for ages and you should totally come and do a lecture of a class of bushcraft one day in September! id love a place to do this kind of stuff on a large scale like you but sadly there is little places i can go round my area!

Skills, man. Awesome. Recently joined a search and rescue team. We mostly use hasty tarp shelters, even in practice because of the massive resources it takes to build a proper shelter, both in time and materials. One person can clear out the easy resources in a single area for just one shelter, not to mention 10 people in a training area you use year after year. That said, it's important to develop skills like a debris of you don't have them. Also RUclips's de- monetization is over kill. Network tv and cable can show all manor of violence, but God forbid you teach a hunting skill on RUclips. On the other hand, I did come across one channel where they guy seemed to be trapping small animals for no reason- he wasn't using the meat, just throwing it out- which certainly isn't a good hunting ethic.

For fire by friction. I learned that once you get your ember into your tinder bundle. Wrap your hands around the bundle and let the ember sit for about 30 seconds. This allows the bundle to dry out. Even if you think it is already dry enough. It allows it to get rid of the moisture from the humidity in the air. Then when you blow it will light easier. Just some helpful tips

Cool video, guys. I'll be checking out Dustin's channel for sure. He has a nice setup there in a good area (diverse woodlands). I've not seen ribs done as he did (merely hung over the open fire) but that seems to work very well. I've not smoked meat over an open fire but I've seen it done before using a method similar to Justin's (plastic sheeting was used instead of cedar/yew boughs; I like Dustin's method better) and I've butchered up my share of deer. What impressed me the most was the cottonball/ash firelighting method. Brilliant......absolutely brilliant. I'm curious if cotton roll bandage would work should cotton balls be unavailable.
Keep up the good work, all.
