I realize this is an older video and I’m a bit late to the party, but I want let you know I enjoyed this. Your ability to stay positive even during a downpour is commendable. I would require a lot more food, probably because I’m old and out of shape. I did love camping out and fishing 40 years ago but am more of a “camp in” type now. Watching your videos brings back memories and for that, I’m in your debt. I think a major difference between camping in the wild in the U.K. and the U.S. is your absence of wildlife, the size and kinds that could possibly make a meal of you. I wouldn’t go out without a firearm and it’s always better to go with another person. One more thing and I’ll leave you alone. I noticed you have more than one knife, and more than one way to start a fire. That’s very wise. We have a saying for that, it’s “Three is two, two is one, and one is none.” Thanks again.
The beauty about your videos is that they are timeless. In a sense, you have become Peter Pan, ageless. When we watch them it's the here and now, not yesteryear! Thanks Mike!✌️👍🙏
I appreciate your honesty. The fishing was a bust, but you hung tough & didn't sugar coat it. Most fish stories are greatly exaggerated. Rock on bro. 🇺🇸
Really enjoyed this video. It just shows that you don’t need to take half your house to have a good time camping. You and your dad are so knowledgeable and great fun to watch. I am so grateful to you . Take care and carry on with the good work. Xx
The reason I love your Bushcraft channel over others is because you actually provide commentary. I'm sure that there are others who do, but the majority I've seen don't. It also doesn't hurt that you have a charming personality, so it makes what I'm watching more engaging. Awesome work, dude.
Mate... as much as I love the coast, I’ll take the peace of the woods everyday. Don’t stress the haters. Your vids are top notch and my go to watch. Your knowledge is amazing and I learn so much from you. Your a great talker and you capture your audience well. Keep up the good work and keep them coming. Respect,
no need for patients when watching your videos mike, i absolutely love the longer ones, the way you film, and present them is so professional, makes it so easy to watch, so a big big thankyou to you for going through all the effort to film whilst your hiking, its a real pleasure.
Hi Mike. Just a quick note about how much I enjoy your videos and I am really enjoying this one! Between you and your dad you have inspired me to make my fishing trips with my son a whole lot more interesting! We have a wood burning stove and a camping set. Roll on spring and summer!
Yes ....yes and yes there should always be a backup food .... showing us the skills to survive is enough and not how to starve...... Ohhh cheers by the way
I know this is a year old but I love watching your videos. You make things clear and I loved that you don't feel like you have to prove anything to everyone as your safety comes first, I had watched a few videos by another person and I found him to be terrible foolish and hope that a new person wanting to start these trips will not follow his example. Thank You for your good sense about solo trips all the way to the end
Tell your dad we call lead "sinkers" in the southern US. I know he gets a kick out of stuff like that. I live in a landlocked state so I rarely get to see the ocean. I have never seen a rocky shore. What a spectacle! Excellent video.
Dude you should come up to Scotland. Used to live on an island in the west of Scotland and there's woods, caves, beaches and obviously plenty of sea. Perfect combo of sources of food, firewood and shelter. Also a lot to forage even if you aren't roughing it. The piers are a great source of mussels and fishing off of them you can get an arseload of mackerel at the right time of year (not that I ever had). Once saw a guy haul 3 of them on a set of 3 lures, one per hook. If you're looking at a time to go, spring is definitely best.
@@maxjenner3561 Close, Isle of Bute. Smaller but usually less tourists coz there's no mountains. Another bonus being Scotland's right to roam laws which mean that unless explicitly told by the land owner (verbal or via signs), you can walk anywhere and forage all wild produce.
Saul Sykes I’m from the west coast so venture into the islands regularly, haven’t been to Bute unfortunately but I’ll definitely consider going in future
Old thread I know... I'm from Arran, and I'm just starting to get into the outdoor types of hobbies. Arran is great for it, but during the summer you can never chill out on your own in the wilderness as there will always be tourists around somewhere🙄
Good video, i liked it. But who took the time out to "dislike" the video ?? Literally a guy camping and enjoying it and you disliked it... Some people suck !!
@TA Outdoors. That hobo real. I would consider adding a lanyard on it. I can picture it flying out of your hand one day into an unrecoverable location. You could thread the cord through the bottom of the handle, the hole going through that cork. It would add an extra thing to prevent the cork from coming out, just in case.
Here in Hawaii, we call limpets - 'Opihi. We cook them in their own shells either over the fire on a grill, or nestled right in the coals. They cook in their own juices and are less rubbery that way. They can also be eaten raw right off the rock if need be. Enjoying your vids from Maui, thanks for your hard work in putting them together
opened all windows of my room (7degree outside air temperature), wearing my winter jacket, eating a can of heinz baked beans to have some kind of outdoor feeling... and enjoying your awesome videos
I just stumbled across your channel, bravo sir! Great personality, positive vibes, informative, and the videography is spot on for a solo camper. Looking forward to watching your other episodes!
Love your videos! Small tip regarding the inflatable mat. If you don't already have one, buy yourself a bivvi bag. Have one myself from Highlander. You roll it out, put your sleeping bag in it, and in your sleeping bag you put your mat. What this does is preventing you from rolling off your mat midnight causing a cold and sore back :) You can also put your shoes inbetween the sleeping bag and bivvi bag so they stay warm and can dry a bit. These are all small "skills and drills" I remember from my short time with the military, and I still use them till this day. Have a good one! KR Jeroen
First let me say, damn you sir! Lol! Got hooked on your videos and spent loads on getting into solo wild camping/ bushcraft. Love the videos and the fort is awesome! Keep them coming! Colorado, America
Really enjoy watching your videos. They are helping me get better in my bushcraft skills. I learnt the basics in cadets and have since then always enjoyed wild camping. Rock on ✌️

Just started watching his videos. Have no real interest in bushcraft nor survival bear grylls stuff. However, TA (want to call him Felix but believe i may be wrong) is rather humble, entertaining and i like to see new things and how others live. New subby.

You Brits are quite humorous to watch as outdoorsman. Greetings from Alaska! I was born and raised in the rocky mountains of the State of Idaho in the USA. Way different here than there.
Hey Mike, 7 weeks ago I had an accident and broke my hip socket in 3 places. Somehow I came across your channel, and have binged watched ever since. Thanks for being part of my recovery.
Always enjoy fallowing you you are a nice simple guy without false pretences the video are informative and concise, watching you is a mini vacation when your dad is there that is a bonus and to my French québécois ears the British accent is music.
Thank YOU, Mike. I love longer form videos especially when they actually show me something new and translate an experience well -- which you consistently do. Cheers!
This awesome bushcraft channel and the video he's makes are great to education people about bushcraft and learning bushcraft activities and father and son due are amazing team I am personally glad to support this amazing man and father duo and their awesome experience bushcraft channel 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴😀 please put in dioralyte in your first aid kit
Why is there no activity called mom and son and daughter bush craft? What happens if daddy is into technology and not wilderness? Mom can most certainly teach bush craft.
Top tip for boil in the bag. Squeeze all the food into the top part of the bag and then leave the bottom end out of the water. That way you can hold the bugger straight away without scolding yourself when eating it. Also put it in as you heat the water, uses less gas than bringing water to the boil them cooking.
Mike that was awesome man.... I really enjoyed it. Your Hobo reel is brilliant, I've never caught nothing with mine 😂😂... keep up the good work mate... 👍👍
Well that made great viewing thank you! An older video, but it is in my stomping ground so I had to comment. Unusual for you to have that area to yourself, you are very lucky there. Even in bad weather you often come across a lot of people there. Winspit quarry, which is where you said 'a rock climbers paradise' IS the most popular climbing spot in Dorset as it is good for both beginners and experts, easily accessible with a fairly short walk, sheltered, and a great place to spend the day! If it is not lots of climbers, then lots of walkers pass through, groups of people camp out for a night (as the fire remains are evidence of) and the area is popular for spear fishing. That whole stretch of coastline makes for great walking when it isn't too windy and the sea can be incredibly rough and powerful but with no risk to you on the cliffs. I like the look of the hobo reel as something different, and certainly an interesting thing to make and modify. I have never thought about eating limpets so the info and demonstration you gave was both interesting and practical. Thanks for educating and entertaining us with your videos, long may they continue.
Yeah I feel you brotha, I can't get my family to go out and do anything like this. I found a bug-out-buddy on Facebook, it's good to find like minded people that don't mind going out for 3 to 7 days
Just watched this after coming to the site a few weeks ago, as soon as you started fishing i thought i knew where you were as i have been there many times. If i am not mistaken the first 10 mins of the video was taken at Durlston? If so i have fished from that same location and also on a boat just off there catching Mackerel. Its a beautiful part of the country
Those caves are at Windspit quarry south of Worth Matravers, Dorset, Southern England . They are where they quarried 'Portland Stone' for 100s of years. The whole Jurrasic coast is wonderful walking country.
This guy is awsome knows what he is doing gives good advice ect I can watch all day long funny to love the videos and what you do Mike can't wait to see more
Mike, you say at the end of the video "Thanks for watching all the way through" I have a confession to make, I took 3 sessions over w devices to watch it all and I say to you Thanks for putting out such good content
Cheers mike once again for another cracking vid!!! And thanks again to you and your dad for all the effort you put in to all the vids across the channels its greatly appreciated!!! Great knowledge gained and keeps me entertained!!! Cheers!!! 🍻
I walked/backpacked the Yorkshire coastline, starting at Spurn Point, a wonderful experience, wild and unforgiving in parts, and, interesting towns and villages too. One thing I always do, is where my whistle around my neck, like a necklace, you never know, and, I tend to use a dry bag to keep my sleeping bag in when ever it's located on the outside of my bag. Keep up the great work and videos, I love all of them and learn so much.
probably 90% of his viewers are male (boys). You shouldn't let it worry you because its not him trying to annoy all his female viewers, its him being him. If you watch Joe Robinet which a similair channel to this but based in Canada you would relize he calls a lot of things she. Like he might "she's coming down" as in the storm is coming down. it all evens out.
AOK Foraging and Adventures I don’t mind being a “stand-in” boy. I have no problems with mis stated gender pronouns. Big up the Bushcrafter Girls! We were the original foragers! X
Top Tip! :) If you don't want to take a pillow, or (like me) you forget. Take your fleece or jumper or jacket... Tie a knot in the end of one sleeve (or not, you don't have to), and then stuff the rest of the jacket in the sleeve. stuff all of it for a firm pillow or less for a softer pillow. Works a charm. Try it please Mike if you haven't before.
A stretch of the 'Jurassic coast' on the south coast of england. The exact stretch Mike walks is between Swanage and Worth Matravers. Great if you like climbing, especially in the summer, because it is often the warmest part of the UK where the sun reflecting off the sea and the rock faces heats it right up! A lot of coasteering and Kayaking is done there when the sea is in a good state too.
Why not? Mike gets a kickback for you simply clicking on a link then going back to watching the video. Seems a pretty fair trade, given you're watching this for free paired with the hours and hours these vlogs take to produce.
it doesnt work like that. this is all cost per video/ page view, not cost per click. If anything you devalue it by clicking then coming straight back as that would be seen as a low quality engagement i.e. high bounce rate. you don't know what you are talking about.
I found this location, I've just come back from a wildcamp here. Great location and will definitely go again! This is one of my favourite TA Outdoors episodes. I watched it a couple of times and vowed to get down there! Keep up the good work
Fantastic vid Mike. Might be worth pointing out to your viewers some of the things they could get into trouble with if they're not being very discreet when bushcrafting. For instance hand line fishing on fresh water is illegal and will land you with a big fine if you're caught. Other than that; most excellent!
Nothing wrong with a long video Mike, heck yeah I'm going to watch all the way to the end, thanks for the video Mike, really enjoyed it ! Good thing you didn't bring your dad along he would have probably done a triple swan dive off of the rocks while you were trying to fish ! lol
Longer one this week !
TA Outdoors Mike you was right down the road from where I live. I walk my dog there regularly. Shame I missed you. Great video as always
TA Outdoors yeah I walked past you, I was out climbing where you slept the first night

Re-watching this in May 2020. Hoping to get out for exploring and wildcamping soon. These videos are helping 😀
Hope so! Good luck on your adventures
Yeah so much for that
I’m here in April 2021 :)

It's great how he teaches bush craft in a pleasing way, it's not like that super strict science teacher
I really enjoy these longer adventures. It's great to see people adapt to the circumstances over several days outdoors.
Pretty sure that's the exact cave that got Bilbo and the dwarves captured by the goblins. Stay safe

and “Hello chewy snails.”

2 years later lol
All of your videos are well done. The laws for fishing in England is much more stricter than in most countries.
TA puts out a new video, I stop everything, relax under the shade and watch. Thnx for taking the time to share with us, great video.
It's great watching a British survivalist because I can relate to the things you say
Mike very awsome video well worth watching all the way thru. Keep them coming. 😆 thanks Dolores USA

LOL so true

Watched until the end. No patience needed - brilliant and hugely enjoyable. Thank you!

2019. Watched to the end!! Love your adventures and educational bits in your vids. You are truly inspiring!

Philipp Stültgens Nice! Dutch powerrrr!
Philipp Stültgens you're right and I think watching his videos givesusa bitof bushcraft in times we can't go by ourselves.
Just started watching his videos. Have no real interest in bushcraft nor survival bear grylls stuff. However, TA (want to call him Felix but believe i may be wrong) is rather humble, entertaining and i like to see new things and how others live. New subby.

You standing on the ledge was giving me such anxiety lol.
I don't learn anything, not saying there is nothing to learn here, but listen to this fellow is some relaxing.
You deserve a spot on the air, much better than grylls! Also greeting from Nebraska USA. Yahweh bless you!

Love love your hobo reel...it beautiful!!!
Am I the only one who just has this on in the background? SO relaxing to just listen to, let alone watch with all the scenery.

He didn’t kill it, the cliff did
Ya - Oh My Days Right!!!!??? 😪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Douglas Harbert 😏 Get over yourself mate..🤨 They seed fish by air drops, in mountain lakes.. what?! 😳 👌🏼😜😉
Hahahahaha as soon as I saw that, I came looking for a coment like this. You just cracked me up, man hahahaha
Not many people posting long videos but this was awesome. Thanks for sharing the experiences.
Nice please do more fishing survival vids

This is the kind of stuff I wish my family could see. I can never convince them to go out.
Yeah I feel you brotha, I can't get my family to go out and do anything like this.
I found a bug-out-buddy on Facebook, it's good to find like minded people that don't mind going out for 3 to 7 days
some of the coolest ocean shots that i have ever in the first 10 min
Simply grateful to have found you. Love your knowledge and delivery. Learning soo much from you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Just watched this after coming to the site a few weeks ago, as soon as you started fishing i thought i knew where you were as i have been there many times. I could watch videos like this non stop I wish I had a place to go and stay outside like this
I'd love to build a stone wall that would cover 80% of the front of this cave and light a fire at the edge of it to keep me roasting during the night!
This guy is awsome knows what he is doing gives good advice ect I can watch all day long funny to love the videos and what you do Mike can't wait to see more
Nice video! Im curious about how much water you bring on a trip like this.
Mike, you say at the end of the video "Thanks for watching all the way through" I have a confession to make, I took 3 sessions over w devices to watch it all and I say to you Thanks for putting out such good content
"the better tasting your bait is the better"

Feels satisfying to reach the end and hear Mike saying thanks for watching
I love your shows it inspire me to get out there to live a little again haha thanks

AOK Foraging and Adventures I don’t mind being a “stand-in” boy. I have no problems with mis stated gender pronouns. Big up the Bushcrafter Girls! We were the original foragers! X
That quarry would be a perfect filming location for an Indiana Jones adventure or horror movie.
Where do you got all the fresh water?
The most important question i reckon. I wonder if he took some of the run offs from the rain to refill.
I m curious too
his house
What part of Britain is this
JakeD 113 Jurassic coast
Swanage
A stretch of the 'Jurassic coast' on the south coast of england.
The exact stretch Mike walks is between Swanage and Worth Matravers. Great if you like climbing, especially in the summer, because it is often the warmest part of the UK where the sun reflecting off the sea and the rock faces heats it right up!
A lot of coasteering and Kayaking is done there when the sea is in a good state too.
I watched the whole 3day caostal video. Cheers to you mike.
Don't forget to click on the ads, people. All helps.
smokeybarr that's so dum no one would do than its an d bro
Yeah smokeybarr it really doesn't work like that.
Alec Henry - Wowzers. Calm down, mate. I stand corrected. I was simply trying to help the guy out.
I enjoy the man's honesty
The bleep is annoying. Just mute it.
Really enjoyed watching this but it is now 5am! Good night
Excellent vids. Can`t beat the outdoors.
I found this location, I've just come back from a wildcamp here. Great location and will definitely go again! This is one of my favourite TA Outdoors episodes. I watched it a couple of times and vowed to get down there! Keep up the good work
id love to see a kit video. a ‘what i carry on a 3 day trip’ video. love it. keep them coming.
Awesome little cave, unless you are a sleepwalker. Love your adventures thanks for sharing
Fantastic vid Mike. Might be worth pointing out to your viewers some of the things they could get into trouble with if they're not being very discreet when bushcrafting. For instance hand line fishing on fresh water is illegal and will land you with a big fine if you're caught. Other than that; most excellent!
Bat cave!! That is truly awesome!!
Nothing wrong with a long video Mike, heck yeah I'm going to watch all the way to the end, thanks for the video Mike, really enjoyed it ! Good thing you didn't bring your dad along he would have probably done a triple swan dive off of the rocks while you were trying to fish ! lol
Just making my way through all of the videos and the views in this one are just incredible
