    Thanks for your honest opinion Nia, I am really just sick of seeing a lot of the pageant fans that are just hating on the new Miss USA just because she doesn't fit their competing standards at Miss Universe. Like have they really forgotten that Miss USA and Miss Universe are under the same company or something????
    As much as they want to hate on the new Miss USA, we all know that USA has a high chance of making it to the finals at Miss Universe anyway, it's almost as if they have a place secured always for the US at Miss Universe. And to be honest, I don't think of it as being unfair really, because at the point a contestant becomes Miss USA, we know that they have already been through the whole same process as Miss Universe prior to competing, hence the reason why most US representatives always make it anyway despite how poorly anyone else might think that they perform. I feel that it's really just going to take a lot for the Miss Universe selection committee not to select USA as a finalist because their selection process and criteria is so similar to Miss USA anyway! I would honestly be more surprised if Miss USA doesn't make it, rather than making it lol.

    I have a pageant question: Other pageants always share what they give their winners as their "prize money". Is there a specific prize money amount which Miss USA and Miss Universe receives? NYC is a very expensive place to live for a full year. I'm aware they are awarded a free apartment for the year, but Manhattan is very expensive to go out and to have fun. Do you know what the amount is which Miss USA and Miss Universe wins as their prize money? And, can they receive additional money throughout the year by attending or hosting events? I believe the answer to this question will help future pageant girls to understand what they can look forward to. I look forward to your answer.

    Hi Nia, I can say that in France nobody care about miss Univers during the preparation or the crowning of the new miss because her first role is to be Miss France, it's quite the same that in the US

    • @gomski
      @gomski 5 лет назад +3

      I think that makes sense because when Miss USA wins at Universe, the 1st RU will be the new Miss USA. Btw, just want to ask you, who decides whether to send French delegates to Universe or World?

    • @Histoire-fb5qe
      @Histoire-fb5qe 5 лет назад

      @@gomski It's the miss and the society miss France. The purpose is to choose the pagent who correspond to the girl's profile. For example Iris was a wonderful walker with a good body so she was ready to do an " american show" like MU. But the next years, Maeva was more in the Charity world so that's was miss world for her. But there is also the question of the date of the pagent. Last Years Miss Univers was the next day of miss France

There is always an emphasis on girls looking at the camera at the finals. I also noticed this year that the camera really zoomed in close on the girl's faces. I agree that the priority in selecting the Miss USA winner is not focused on whether or not she can win Miss Universe, because I also think each contestant is capable already of competing in the Miss Universe arena. Whoever is the best gets selected, and is first and foremost a Miss USA with tons of obligations. Love you Nia!

  • @jonathanmiley9111
    @jonathanmiley9111 5 лет назад +2

    I agree that is has become painfully obvious that Miss USA is not concerned with winning Miss Universe. However, the rationale makes no sense to me ... it’s akin to USA Olympics picking athletes that can represent the organization well rather than actually competing for a gold. Seems like a very misplaced priority. The mandate needs to be to find the best young lady to win Miss Universe.

      Matt U I think that they have a preference for the girl who is from the same state where the Miss USA pageant is held because I noticed that Miss Nevada got into the Top 15 to impress the home crowd. It also works the same way at Miss Universe.

    • @MrJerseyboy09
      @MrJerseyboy09 5 лет назад

      @MrGL1973 5 лет назад +1

      @@MrJerseyboy09 You are correct. Miss NJ has not won Miss USA yet. The directors that run NJ also run MD, NY & RI and were the directors when Olivia Culpo & Nana Merriwether held Miss Universe & Miss USA titles. The closest NJ has come to winning would be Alyssa Campanella who competed as Miss NJ Teen USA and then moved to CA and won Miss CA USA & Miss Teen USA.

    Hi Nia,
    I like your opinions and insight. I was sad to hear you say that fact about Miss USA not winning Miss Universe. As a fan and pageant aficionado, I would love to see Miss USA or other American title holders win more international crowns. We are considered a powerhouse when it comes to winning International titles and USA has the most Miss Universe wins. I do feel that Americans should pay more attention and get excited about Miss USA winning Miss Universe and Miss World but the reality is exactly how you stated it. I remember when Olivia won in 2012, I was excited to see if she would be meeting the president, have a home coming to the US. Since I was curious I decided to call MUO and ask when her homecoming would be. I was told that she already had her homecoming to her state and even though she won Miss Universe there would be no celebration. There are lots of us that would and will pay attention. I remember rooting for you and saying prayers when you were in the final 2 and I was sad you lost. I don't believe a Latina American has ever won Miss Universe as Miss USA and your red gown was phenomenal.
    My Aunt has a picture of her father in the 1950s standing next to a Miss USA that won Miss Universe that year. He was extremely excited. We still have that pic in our family album. I hope that Americans can become more excited and give that 1950s excitement to our Miss USAs. But your so right when you also stated that both Miss USA and Miss Universe have the same lifestyle. And thank you for protecting the Queen's. I see the racism and negativity all the time. It's been going on since I was a kid. It's nice to see a Latina have positive things to say about African beauty I appreciate it. I'm aware that there are some Latinos that think our new Miss USA is ugly and New Mexico is more deserving. For me I look at like this, North Carolina was on point and performed from her head to her toe. With New Mexico she did the same but, she performed from her head to ankle, she wore nude platform heals, I would have loved to see a yellow shoe with the same Crystal details as her earrings. What do you feel about the platform nude shoes and plastic shoes. As a coach I teach my guys and girls to always wear a great shoe no to nude platforms or heels unless it truly matchs. Your thoughts Miss Nia, and btw I'm that guy that emailed you when you won and I let you know that your name "Nia" is Swahili word for Purpose and African Americans that celebrate Kwanzaa are taught to have nia (Purpose) in their lives. So my household adores Nia Sanchez. Lol.

    1. Concerning the “conspiracy” that they interview the winner beforehand, I don’t think it’s that they interview the girl because she’s going to win. I think it’s just the interview distinguishes her from the other contestants and subconsciously the judges might notice her more.
    2. Also, you said nothing mean about Cheslie. I read some of the comments below and these folks need to chill out.

Here is my question: I've seen comments on social media expressing overall disappointment with what has been seen from IMG since they took over. Also that when the IMG productions/winners are compared to those of the 'Trump Era' that the Trump Era has produced better or higher quality shows, as well as had stronger Miss USA's in regards to universe placement. Good job Nia. Miss Universe or USA doesn't have a particular look many women around the world don't look the same so we should expect pageant winner in today's era to look the same too. Thank you

    Your comments at the end simply mean you don't think Cheslie is MU material. Just say so. I hope she does well and proves the naysayers wrong.

      Sina Dumbutshena that is not what I’m saying at all. It’s my personal opinion and applies to all the girls. Even when I was Miss USA and placed 1st runner up. I don’t think they had any desire for me to actually win Miss Universe

      I'm sorry if I spoke in a way that said made it sounds like I thought she wasn't going to do well at MU. Thats not what I was saying at all. I have no doubt that she will slay.

      @@Realniasanchez I would have to agree with Nia on this. Additionally, Miss Universe Org is a business, and I'm sure interms of revenue and having international appeal and attracting top talent, crowning a Miss USA at Miss Universe is probably not their top priority from a business standpoint.
      I'll take it further, Miss World is UK based and their women hardly ever place. UK don't even have many Miss World winners. So from a business standpoint, crowning winners from other countries make sense.

    Miss Universe org. always interview's the eventual winner while she's about to compete in Swimsuit or evening gown. That ruins the surprise.

    Let's do away with the BS continental placing at Miss Universe FOR GOOD. I think it adds to the fuel of hatred in the pageant world leaving out deserving girls from placing. Also, why MUO don't secure a host for their pageants at least a year in advance. Let's have Miss Universe in the summer again (fall is ok) but no more December or January.

    Hello Nia ! Please check miss texas (alayah benavidez) instragram story. She talks about her interview and it makes me so sad that the judges don't treat the girls with equality. Love from France

    Woah, didn’t expect my name to be mentioned in the video LOL. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the swimsuits, Nia. I really wish they bring back what we’ve gotten used to (solid color choices and consistent cut choices) just like in Miss Universe 2018.

    Imagine watching Ms Universe where the finalists are all eloquent but ugly. It's definitely going to make beauty pageants irrelevant by turning it into an oratorical contest rather than a battle of beauty and brains.

    I reallyyy agreee w/ ur last respond saying tht americans are not that psyched if Miss USA wins the Miss Universe XD bcos yeahh well america has a lot of celebrities over thre...
    it just simply means tht other countries would be sooo muchhh happy if their representatives won the title, bcos it would mark their country name into the international map knowing tht they can accomplish great achievements in life too as a global competition 😄

    Why miss USA winner receives so much importance along with miss universe winner?
    I mean they live in a same apartment, they go to the same events etc. Is it not unfair to the winners of national peagents of other countries ?
    In short isn't miss universe organization biased?

      AGREE and people out attacking the honest and gorgeous NIA JUST BECAUSE SHE HAS A DIFFERENT Opinion than yours ? MISS USA AND MISS UNIVERSE LITERALLY get the same type of treatment . The ONLY Difference is that Miss Universe travel more countries than MISS USA does . Now NIA THANK YOU FOR BEING HONEST ABOUT YOUR Opinion
