Very well explained and explained and demonstrated. I work with the altered scale from time to time and can't get any decent melodies out of it. It's a difficult scale to hear and get control over.
Thank you! Yes, it can be difficult to hear the scale, and find good melodies in the beginning. I recommend you to listen to players like Grant Green, Joe Pass, Robben Ford, Emily Remler etc.. Find some versions of them playing a standard that you've heard many times, and then see if you can find some lines to transcribe! :) In my lesson "Jazz Up Your Blues" on the site (proguitar.com/academy) I go through some of these things in a clear way - and you get TABs/notation for all those examples included in the lesson. haha, yeah B = H... used in Europe .. I never ever say H for B, but that manuscript paper had it in there.. weird.. I should change that - didn't see it until you mentioned it :D
