That's true. I make a lot of self deprecating jokes (not even as a coping mechanism or anything since there's nothing I'd need to cope with), and to be honest, I can't tell if I'm actually self absorbed or if I just come off that way.

You actually shouldn’t say that though. Artists are super critical and mean towards their own art even if everyone else think it looks great. But if they know they’re good and are just fishing for compliments then yes you should say that.
