- Carving a Largemouth Bass in Basswood in a high relief method. High relief wood carving is both rewarding and challenging, using soft-grain wood can be helpful. I used a variety of hand carving tools and included a small list below. The finish is a combination of clear shellac and dyed shellac.

Well done - I have been carving for the better part of 40 years and was amazed by your skills and methods.
Wow, thank you!
Been carving since I was 13, 68 now retired and still carving, really great job, enjoyed the video.
Tony looks awesome. The only thing that video doesn't show is just how wonderfully satisfying that is to the soul. I find that after a creation of my own, I can't stop looking at it. I got the feeling, you are the same way.
Couldn't agree more!
One of the coolest projects I have ever seen you do on the show. I like the others but this one shows your personality
Wow, thank you!
Tony is beautiful! Loved watching him appear and the paint job is perfect. You are truly both an artist and a craftsman!
Thank you for the kind words!
That turned out great! Thanks for sharing!

Another job/video well done, Eric! Love from TC!
Thank you!! I really enjoy Traverse.
Found your channel few months back, first video that I watched was about relief carving (your other channel), you did that pretty big cross carving. First thought that popped "Damn, this guy is awesome, like some sort of biker version of Bob Ross." These kinda videos are good for the soul, and woodworking too. Keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words. Bob Ross was such an wonderful person. He inspired so many.
GREAT video!! Tony came out GREAT!! You make it look Sooooo easy!
SORRY you didn't get many tight lines last year but hopefully you'll get more this year!! 👍🎣
Thank you! Yeah my fishing game has been off the past couple years. Just not getting out enough!
Tony looks like pretty bad bass fish to me😎😂
Haha! Thanks
Your beautiful relief carving is a perfect replica of your bass print! Tony the Bass is absolutely awesome! So cool that you carved him from bass wood! Gotta know...what does Buddy think of him?? He'll be a perfect addition to your home! Your talent amazes me! You guys have a great weekend! God bless!!
Thank you Cindy. So kind of you to say. Buddy seems to like him too!
@@CraftsmansLegacy Buddy has good taste!!
Yep, Tony the bass just fits!!! Never tried carving but you’ve striked an interest. Thanks for the video.
Happy to hear this! Go for it!!!
That turned out fantastic! Great work! The largemouth bass in on my list for carving in my Catch-2-Carve series on my channel, and this video got me all fired up to get whittling. Love the channel a ton, it's really inspiring to watch true craftsmen at work.
Thank you! How kind to say. I enjoy your videos too!!
Wow... beautiful carving!! Tony looks like he's going to jump right off that wood plaque! So realistic, he really does look like your print. I thought you said you couldn't draw??? This was a wonderful project and video. Nice to see Buddy and the pond fish, too! Glad the fish made it through winter! Can't wait to see what you carve next time!
I also like the wood burned accent on the side of the fish. Nice touch!
Thank you very much! I was happy to see the fish live through winter also!
Thank you. I need to practice more with the Razortip.
Well done sir !!

Tony looks amazing!👏

Wow that came out beautiful and I'm blown away by the level of detail you achieved! Always so much fun watching your process! I actually have a very similar vintage print of a Alaskan Pollock!
How cool! I really like how those prints look.
Wow that's pretty cool. It turned out very well there. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Thank you!!
Eric, a suggestion. Why not try the eptimum of wood working and craftsmanship. Wooden aircraft construction. I'd bet they still do a lot of it at the Curtiss Air Museum in Hammondsport, NY...Moses

I used to carve, but I ran out of fingers.
