- Trp. J. Bass (H-25) stops a speeding motorist near Third & Garrison Sts. in Fort Smith. When the driver discovers he has a warrant, he flees.
All other craziness aside…anyone else extremely impressed by how the officer handled his hat during the whole altercation?
The trooper was being polite and professional. I dont get how so many people think they have the authority to revise and interpret laws as they see fit. One thing is for sure, the guy made getting his 💩 together a lot more challenging.
Trooper Bass is a very professional and reasonable officer to deal with. He actually wrote me my last ticket. He could have gotten me for quite a bit and only wrote it for expired tags. But the actual stop is between 4th and 5th streets on Rogers Ave.
Going to jail for an outstanding warrant is certainly not a good day, but to deliberately make it as bad as possible is definitely an illustration of idiocy.

The officer is obligated to take you in when he finds out you have a warrant. The conversation is over at that point.
I'm not understanding the ignorance. A misdemeanor turned into 5+ FELONIES. Why run, compliance is so much simpler! He wasn't getting away! 🤦🤦🤦

I think courts should treat running from the cops as an automatic guilty plea to whatever the want was at the point the person fled.

I love the Smokey Bear hats. But, I worked for an agency who got rid of hats over 40 years ago because it was an officer safety distraction. Forget the hat. Officer safety first.

Trooper Bass is how Police should be. He was polite and courteous until old boy decided to take control of the stop which is not how any of this works. People have gotten brazen in their dealings with Police. We need more Troopers like Bass.

This clown sounds a bit like a Sov Citizen, by what he was saying. He did not get out of the car when asked and then told, he fled and was pitted to stop. He brought all of this on himself and the judge will probably laugh him out of court once the video is shown in court.

That police officer was cool, calm, and collected. When the perp took off on the stop, the officer was smooth as butter. When he elegantly retrieved his hat off the roof and slowly stepped back as the car took off, I thought that I was watching a segment on “Dancing with the Stars.”
In Texas and Arkansas, you lose your trooper hat, you might as well resign. They’re sacred.
He is a state police trooper - not a police officer. All are LEOs of course, but there is an important distinction. 😊
Once again, a person made a minor situation far worse and dangerous than it needed to be. Whatever he had outstanding, now has felony resist and evasion. Now he gets to be a special guest at the grey-bar hotel, no reservations required, where he can pile on more regrets in life. I'm glad the officer wasn't injured when the car took off like that.

I really wish they filmed the reaction of the first time this idiot watched the video and realized he was just entirely wrong about everything he said in that backseat. He would be a great professor for "how to turn a bench warrant into a felony 101." Too bad they didn't offer that position at the job fair he supposedly went to.
No mention of him tailgating, running the red light (rolling stop), failure to signal 100ft before turn, or failing to conduct a proper stop at the stop sign all before he pulled over. I hope they tack all those on as well.
