The turret missing every single shot at 1:46 is just like in Fallout 76 when my camp turrets can't hit an enemy 3 feet in front of them. 10/10 realism.

Yeah oppenheimer technically did exist in the fallout universe, the fallout universe diverges from our real world history after ww2 where nuclear power was fully embraced and transistors weren't even invented till the 2070s hence the computers never advanced past 1970s level. But they made great advances in robotics and AI. Also the cold war never went away but America's enemy shifted from the soviets to the ccp.
Hopefully there’s not any bugs when this first releases

@@svenjones4371 Especially since they just don't learn. Sure, the trailer here looks visually gorgeous and I like the music but the dialogue (and humor) doesn't look good.
I'm already expecting the series to not follow Fallout canon whatsoever (especially after Bethesda making jet a pre-war drug even though it was after the war) and have terrible writing (which Bethesda is notorious for).
It looks like the same search quest like Fallout 3 and 4 (search for my father for the former and search for my son for the latter).
We'll see though. Nowadays, it's better to not have your expectations that high.

This was my experience stepping out of Vault 101 in Fallout 3. All year of 2009, that was the only game I played.
I hope this show captures the dark humor and tone of the games, fingers crossed it doesn't disappoint like Halo did!

@@PinshiJR brotherhood airships are mentioned across the games. You can find a crashed on in fallout tactics and i cant remember if it was cut content or not but there are terminal entries about the Prydwen that mention her sister ships.
As for the name of the airship it was in the concept art released at the same time as the trailer. Thats how we know the show takes place in LA in 2296 and that the BoS airship is called the Caswennan. Which means DC brotherhood are back as the west coast chapters have been mostly wiped out
@@daxlucero2437it's not thr Prydwen. In the lore the Brotherhood had at the very least a dozen airships, most of which were destroyed when they attempted to cross the Rockies. The Prydwen was one of, if not the only survivor of the trip to the East Coast.
It stands to assume the Western Brotherhood built more since that initial journey years before Fallout 4.

Best part of Fallout is that the story can be just about anything. The world is the character!!

What I was thinking. It’s the strength of these types of franchises. The trick is whatever new characters and new setting you have has to stick the landing. Fingers crossed the show can hold up on that end.

I just hope it's tonally dark. That's the key to what makes Fallout work, I think. Yes you can have goofy - VERY occasionally. But you need that dark tone first and foremost. Of raiders attacking water caravaners. Of super-mutants abducting people for "Unity". Of Vault-Tec's legacy being staggering cruelty to people who never deserved it. And of our heroes final reward being "good job, well done, now go and die someplace else".
Nail the dark tone, and you get Fallout. Miss it and you'll have a generic western with power armour.

But for ME, if you didn’t play those games at least a couple of hours then you’re not a real fallout fan. For ME, I enjoyed fallout 4 and 76 is mid. Maybe we can have some common ground on 76.

It’s got that FO 3 drabness mixed with the dash of vibrancy FO4 introduced. I know you’re more likely than not referring to Fallout 1 & 2 when you say “the older games”, but I think that applies to FO3 as well. 4 and 76 is where we started to see some real color introduced, 76 being an absolute explosion on that front. New Vegas is somewhere in between but there’s still a heavy emphasis on browns and other neutral colors.
I can’t believe they actually pulled it off 😭 This show was fucking great I loved it 9.9/10 had like 2 flaws overall but my god did they capture the fallout world and characters so well.
Looking back I was skeptical from this trailer. Now I love it because the show was good and this song shows up in the finale

Some seems like a stretch. I would say a few.
There's just something about the mix of retro-future scifi and post-apocalypse that makes Fallout so appealing to me. It's like all the atomic era's hopes, fears, and crazy speculations, all ramped to a high level. I don't expect the show to be perfect, but I do hope that it is going to be very good and hopefully worth more seasons.
The retro future sci-fi aesthetic has always been my favorite thing about the game. Can’t get enough of it
Yeah I love how they adapted the tone/style that the 40s and 50s imagined the future to be like
1,000% man, you’re tapped into it. It’s one of the greatest fictional settings ever devised across any medium. It’s built to stand the test of time, in that it’s themes will always resonate and the stories that it possesses the potential to tell are virtually limitless.

Even if this show ends up being not great (which I hope it isn’t, I’m rooting for the show to be good), whoever put this trailer together did one hell of a job capturing the tone, setting, and just generally getting my interest in the show to peak. Looking forward to April.

From the looks of it, this looks like it’s gonna be an anthology series. I could be wrong, but honestly, an anthology series in the Fallout world would be amazing to see!
An anthology would work best tbh, hopefully a series long anthology like AHS and not an episodic anthology like Black Mirror or Twilight Zone

The last nuke detonated like half a mile from the Griffith observatory yet it’s still standing somehow 200 years later
it didn't hit the observatory though, did it? And the shockwave probably did minimal damage. So what's wrong about it?

@@artvandellay Fallout nukes are not real life nukes. They are dirty bombs the size of the Fatman/Littleboy. They leave behind much more radiation and for way longer than their real life counterparts. That's why the wasteland is still so uninhabitable 200 years later.
Look up the Castle Bravo and Tsar Bomba nukes on youtube. Those would absolutely destroy that observatory if it was dropped in the same area. Not just the initial blast would be much larger. The shockwave from the Tsar Bomba would be so insanely more powerful than the bombs seen in the show.
You can see the initial blast from the closest bomb does not touch the observatory and the shockwave doesn't seem to drop much of the buildings before it so I don't see why it would drop a sturdy building on a large hill.
Fallout nukes have never been realistic. You can witness every nuclear detonation in the games without going blind. The folk in the show watched nukes detonate without going blind

This looks incredible, my dad was a massive fallout fan, clocked 1408 hours in fallout new vegas and 1603 hours into fallout 4, he sadly passed in 2018 and I used to remember always seeing him play Fallout and him saying they should make a show or movie about Fallout and now they have, he would have loved this show and watching this I felt like I was watching the trailer with him it brought a tear to my eye to see something that he wanted to happen become reality, amazing work Amazon, you guys nailed the look of the world of Fallout, cant wait

Well, I imagine Obsidian will make another Fallout game before Fallout 5, though that will also probably be late 2020s at the earliest.

I never thought I would see power armor in a real drama, I was surprised at how realistic Radroach is.

Seeing a game world in live action is so cool. If there are multiple seasons i hope it could explore different characters and different wastelands

Ah, see I missed that as well, but for different reasons. I've never played a Fallout game (not that I don't own any - I do, all of them. I just haven't got around to playing them yet), regardless, I still associate the song you mentioned with nuclear war, due to it featuring in the intro of the Megadeth song "Set The World Afire", from the "So Far, So Good, So What?" album.

The fact that they paid so much attention to detail from the trailer alone makes me feel like This series is going to try it's best to bring the fallout world to life. And not just another cash grab using the Fallout IP.

I remember most people sht on this trailer when it dropped. I certainly had low expectations. Now we’re about to watch it a second tine. Just revisiting this to see how much people’s opinions have shifted like mine did. Fun show
@@marston_ Fallout games have become known for their humor and having B movie action/horror. This show reflects that pretty well. Not everyone's cup of tea, and yea it's written like a Marvel movie. Doesn't make it bad. Even things like character armor and plot convenience seems intentional in the show because it lends itself to Fallout game logic: Like how a stimpak can heal broken bones and fatal wounds. How characters seem to be able to fast travel in the show. How turrets have 2% accuracy and people can outrun them. Not a perfect show, but certainly among the better video game adaptions.

@@CPorter Very bad idea. Original Fallout had a pretty dark ambient tracks for gameplay, "Maybe" was there just for an intro. Putting 60s music as gameplay tracks (movie tracks) is a terrible idea, cause it gives warm and loving vibes to a dark and violent reality that supposed to be shown (cause that was in the original game). But than again, bethesda ruined the game completely and made it into something different that's not a fallout anymore, even their first game (part 3) was a complete garbage compared to original. If this is the way they are going, well hopefully it will not be as shitty as the game. I don't have high hopes tho...
Expect at least a couple of songs so old they are already in the public domain.
The show runners would be stupid to not use stuff in the public domain, it fits the aesthetic and they don't have to pay for it.

I think it's because fallout is all "personality" anyway. The world and lore is what makes the games what they are and since there's an abundance of that to reference it's easy to capture that fallout vibe. And since the games are so open and there really isn't an ongoing storyline for fallout the writers can make up any story they want within the fallout universe. Other games adaptations like the last of us for example have fleshed out characters that you need to be faithful to also, there's canon tou need to be faithful to as well to not piss off the fans. With fallout, they can make up an entire cast of characters not featured in any fallout games and it won't matter.
They changed almost all the lore from what has been mentioned so far.
Yeah you can tell it’s a Fallout because of the machine gun turret missing every shot from like 50 yards away not even. Very true to the lore.

I bet they put it in the show, it's the most iconic monster, but I'm afraid it's gonna appear later, maybe the season finale so that fans will loudly ask for a second season. I hope it's gonna have numerous seasons though, if The Walking dead can last so long without having so much to say, Fallout could have 20+ seasons with all the lore available.
