- Phantom Corsair, brought to the public in 1938, is a prototype automobile designed by Rust Heinz of the H. J. Heinz family and Maurice Schwartz of the Bohman & Schwartz (de) coach-building company in Pasadena, California.
One of the coolest cars from one of the most beautiful decades of design.
What a sexy piece of streamlined art deco machinery! But it definitely has blind spots on top of blind spots.
You know what the real problem with the Phantom Corsair is? No one not named Bruce Wayne would have the guts to drive it. I mean, even the name of the thing screams "masked avenger of the night!" And just looking at it you wonder where the hidden Gatling gun goes, or the remote-control drone, or the hidden stash for the driver's ominous batlike mantle, and those so-called "bumpers" look an awful lot like Star Trek deflector shields ...
Looks like K.I.T.T.s granddad. 1930s Knight Rider.
LA Noire brought me here. Game says top speed is 115mph as well!
115 mph? Easy for me, having a engine built in same factory as the duesenberg's.
I remember seeing this car in Road & Track, I think it was, back in the 80s. It really captured my imagination. Still love it today.
I remember having a hotwheels model of this car as a kid.
still have mine in the box
@@deancarr4507 I still got mine, though it’s heavily used. Actually accidentally stole it from another kid in kindergarten 20 years ago.
I have that phantom corsair hot wheels😏🚗💀🏁
I had one too, i really liked it but lost it somewhere 😑.
Didnt even know back then that it was this old.
I just found one at my local shop for $0.50
This has been my Dream Car for years!
Mine too. Had a Hot Wheels version as a kid -- not really sure at all when or how I got it. But I have been obsessed with it ever since.
I carried a hot wheels Corsair with me wherever I went. My hands down dream car.
I think the Hot Wheels version was my first introduction to the real deal. Beautiful car.
Somebody needs to recreate it and start producing it
That has a better drag coefficient than 95% of today's production vehicles
wonderful car ! Amazing. I love it.
This must have been a great batmobile for Batman in the 1930s :)
Wha...they cut this way too short! What do all of those switches at the end do?!
I think car designers should base modern consept cars with those cars specialy with the art deco era
Fuel is expensive today, in these times they have a lot of focus in make the automobile beautiful as they can, but after the great oil crisis in 70s the worldwide car industry would never be the same.
The most wonderful car I’ve ever seen
I knew it had a cool story usually unique cars have such original story
Someone needs to take a full body mould, and make a kit.
ChannelNotFound I've been wanting to 3D model one, carve it out of foam on a CNC router, and fiberglass it as a plug. Then pull bodies off it. Not sure if there would be much of a market. But I'd LOVE one.
Coupe Simone is slated to be started in 2023... a full-size build with aluminum body
Turning Ketchup into Catchup...
.... FUN to park!
I suppose it’s forbidden to open the hood and look at the MYSTERY engine…
V8 Frontwheel Drive. By The lords Of Understeer!
I need one asap lol
I would definitely drive it
I got here from L.A. Noire. Didn’t know it was a real car lol
same here, even though L.A. Noire have realistic cars and brands existed since that era.
Flying Wombat movie car too.
"The Young in Heart" 1938
Jaw dropping.
Anybody nows that jazz music at 0:25? Shazam doesn't recognize it. Thanks!
IN 1920-30-S PEOPLE WERE MORE FUNNY, HAPPY, OPTIMISTIC, GOOD MIXERS, CAPABLE AND WISE THAN NOW! IF YOU THINK THAT I'M NOT RIGHT, PLEASE, WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY MOVIES WHICH WERE FILMED THAT TIME! LOOK AT PEOPLE'S FACE ( HOW THEY WERE HAPPY) AND LOOK AT THE DESIGNES AND SHAPES OF THE CARS! THAT TIME THERE WEREN'T MOBILE PHONES AND THE INTERNET! SO PEOPLE READ, TRAVEL, LEARNT MUCH AND COULD MAKE DIFFERENT, BEAUTIFUL AND INTERESTING THINGS FOR THE MOST COMFORTABLE LIFE IN THE WORLD! I'M PROUD OF THAT PEOPLE! I RESPECT THEM! ❤👍😐
Ramiz Nagiyev true story....
WERE THERE MORE OF THESE PHANTOMS MADE OR IS THIS BEAUTY THE ONLY ONE EVER IN EXISTENCE ???????
Only one in existence I believe. Never went into production.
How did they have 10 of them in the movie young in the heart 1938?
@@kyle3gc4yj19 I wondered the same thing
@@Tigrezebra I ended up finding out that they were wax models.
Awwww...I had actually hoped that there were more out there somewhere :(
0:00 music name please
Does Jay Leno have one?
No, this is the only one.
If this is the only one, what is with these other 9 cars in the video at 0:49?

@@DJ_Noizy The other "Flying Wombats" we see in the showroom sequences were just static copies of the car, probably made of wax.The unique 1938 Phantom Corsair now resides in the National Automobile Museum (The Harrah Collection) in Reno, Nevada.
