I read somewhere how the languages kumaoni, brij, gadhwali, bhojpuria, maithili are slowly dying..
I'm from Karnataka please from these regions use these languages as much as you can, don't let them die.

I am a kumouni and the concern you have raised is correct...
The main reason what I can estimate about ghadwali and kumouni is firstly that they are Dailacts and are written in the hindi script , they don't have script of their own. And secondly the most important the problem of migration due to less employment opportunities as Uttrakhand is mountaineos region. My father migrated to Delhi and I am born and bought up in Delhi.. I understand kumouni really well , can also write it in hindi script but when it comes to speaking I can't even form 3-4 proper sentence... And i have a lot of classmates from uttarakhand here and we share this same problem ... But we celebrate our culture and festivals here with great enthusiasm and listen to kumouni and gadhwali song and even sing them....... Still not able to speak properly even some of my cousins who actually live in uttarakhand only.. But now I will definitely try my best to be fluent in it.

@@nirmalajoshi7035 with all due respect to you ma'am gadhwali and kumaoni are not dialects of Hindi because they're older than Hindi. Mohapatra committee report recognised them as seperate independent languages and asked the government to include kumaoni gadhwali bhojpuri and other 30 languages to 8th schedule.. but the central govt has not taken any step on this.
And what you said is right about you not being able to speak your mother tongue. I have friends from Uttarakhand and Himachal who have the same problem.
Please talk in your children and acquaintances in your mother tongue only. Hindi you can use to talk with others.

It is said that originally this folk song was used to sung with a special meaning by a daughter to her father , who out of care didn't wanted to leave his father as her mother had died long ago and her old father would be left alone after her marriage. So she beautifully explains and lies out of care and love for her father ,how she don't want to get married in bilauri of bageshwar village (as it is situated at a high altitude and sunrays are very harsh there) and will live with her father only .
