His work has a 1950s look with a modern feel. He is truly unique. Sublime.
VERY VERY SUBLIME. WONDERFUL!
that's a great way to put his work is has a modern art-deco aesthetic
For some reason I always thought Alex Ross was old when he appeared on the scene in the 90's. His art seemed so mature and classical compared to his contemporaries of the time. He's actually still fairly young.
You are one of my heroes, Mr. Ross. I've bought comics I don't usually read because your work was on the covers. Thanks so much for sharing your work and process.
Totally agree.
I think this is the first comment Alex ever hearted.
Love that his “imperfect” sketches are better than 90% of comic art these days
I wouldn’t even call that a sketch. I would call it a masterpiece.
This is something people don't talk about enough. so many comics right now have really lifeless artwork in them. it's like they just looked at a disney storyboard and threw it in procreate. couple of days later, you have a new issue of venom.
different artists have different styles
badbot style is one thing but quality is the problem with comic art these days. They always seem rushed.
@@コズミックまこ maybe because publishers are forcing their hands
Watching Alex paint so calmly reminds me of his late uncle, Bob.
No way.... is he really related to Bob Ross? I never knew.
@@jemagu6 just kidding, but maybe somewhere down the line idk
@@ezzong Lol... that would be awesome if they were related
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were related
Way to go, jackass.....
Kingdom Come is still one of my all time favorite comics. The artwork is just awesome.
it's bloody amazing
Love the video, Alex. Can we get one that focuses on just you drawing and painting?
+1, but anything from you is welcome anyway!!! :)
So did you get one? I heard it is so hard to get Alex Ross on anything.
Like an ASMR video. Videos of people painting relax me a lot
I wish so much
I realize I'm quite randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online ?
As an amateur artist who spends weeks stressing over tiny things about thumbnails and is very insecure about the composition phase of a work, this is very enlightening and helpful. Reminds me that I'm not delivering this to my grumpy perfectionist clone, I'm delivering this to regular people who apparently like what I paint.
Also RUclips WHAT ARE YOU DOING? HOW COME ONLY NOW I FIND OUT ALEX FREAKING ROSS HAS A CHANNEL? I SHOULD'VE WATCHED THESE VIDEOS AGES AGO, SERIOUSLY STOP RECOMMENDING ME JIMMY KIMMEL VIDEOS. Thank you.
EXACTLY!!!! 👌😵✌
I agree with so many. You're a legend. Please keep doing everything you do and SHARING. I love seeing this content from brilliant talent and hard workers.
I can't wait to dig more into your previous videos.
I used to draw a lot when I was younger. In highschool. After that though i stopped. Felt discouraged. But now im beginning to get that inspiration lately. Watching this is kind of giving me that little push. Thanks for sharing your work Alex.
Sir, you are a phenomenal talent.. I’m glad I’m part of a hobby that I can appreciate your work on a regular basis..
I always felt like I was cheating using reference but now I know a legend like you does it I feel better 😊
An Alex Ross video longer than 1 minute is like Christmas come early lol

So true RNS Entertainment. I was in awe watching the video and kept thinking "please make a full length Alex Ross documentary, please please please".
This is the first video I've watched in a while because it's longer. And chock-full of insight!
This is what I want from now on!
yes, thank you for creating longer videos!
Alex Ross, you are without a doubt one of the greatest artists (not just for comic books) of our time.
Not really. At best he's above average skillwise. On Critical discourse on art, that i don't know. I've never seen works from him on other platform. But definitely a good comic illustrator.
Love getting a longer video, delving that much further into the thoughts and talents of this phenomenal artist!
This man was bless and i met him in person very humble .
Nice guy
Wow. I am impressed with his ideologies on comic book creations. I love his candid approach. And Alex, your art is OUTSTANDING as always!
No Wacom or digital fancy hi-tech gadgets... wow he is absolutely a true analog traditional comic painter...what a legend
He has a channel on RUclips?!! How did I not know this until now!
Alex ross, please, do a master class.
Every artist uses photo reference especially if their work is realistic or semi-realistic. Every artist.
Not me.
@@dinoleo3804 but you are also not an artist
I could listen to this man talk about his creative thought process and professional experiences all day long.
Alex Ross' work has amazed me from first sight. I only wish that I could afford to own some of it (but, I can't afford DaVinci, either).
Such talent has a corresponding value. I'm glad that Alex is here to be able to reap the rewards of his mastery of his medium.
I would love to see formal public gallery/art museum exhibitions of Alex Ross...
This is fantastic! I’m looking forward to many more videos in this series. Alex Ross is the best there is in the game!
I Love your Comic Kingdom Come and Batman War on Crime
Loving the longer videos!
To the point: Absolutely beautiful work! Cool insights. And a really interesting perspective on the process!
Very inspirational and insightful , thank you for sharing. I'm an airbrush artist and I can't tell you how many times I've been ask to airbrush your work onto a shirt or wall mural. I love your rendition of Superman! Thank you, Ross.
Always loved this guy's style. Incredible work 👍

Im a DC guy by far. But, 1 thing DC and Marvel fans can agree on, is Ross is a beast!!!!!
Mr Ross . the Justice league action figures are amazing . they look so realistically great .I LOVE YOU YOUR ARTWORK.
Genius is hard to describe...stop asking “how”...
So do you just hang out with a bunch of bodybuilders?
Theoretically you could just post an ad for athletes from your local colleges to pose for like 10-50 minutes of taking pictures if you have everything set up early.
He uses his toy collection for references as well
I am your 69th like
I'm digging it! its really inpirational!
This man made my childhood of comic hero books.
Yes! Longer videos, please!
You sir are a genius .. Love your work
Your best RUclips video yet
What paints does he uses, water colours, acrylic etc?
Awesome insights into how a master works! More like this please!
I never knew he did art for Marvel as well, I definitely need to read those works too.
Alex Ross...you`re a friggin legend !!
Passei a pintar em papel depois de ver os trabalhos desse grande artista. É claro que os meus não chegam nem aos pés. Mas fez com que eu desse mais vida aos meu desenhos. Obrigado, Alex Ross
Alex Ross is a living legend.
Wow I didn't know Alex has his own channel, glad I found it.

This is actually great advice for any artist.
Nice!!! Excellent video!!!
Honestly this guy is so good I am not sure if he is an inspiration or a detriment to my psyche.
I am going to learn gouche now though.
"Its jumpin out at me!"😂😂
And I was just at that part of Andrew Loomi´s book "Creative Illustration" (which I know is one of your influences btw) Saludos desde Chile.
I love how his paintings have a Norman Rockwell feel to them but with superheroes instead of thanksgiving meals and doctors offices..
Kingdom Come and the Amazing Spider Man covers are incredibly beautiful. I have a print of the fantastic four wedding that Alex made too thats dope.
Alex Ross is the Unreal Engine 5 of traditional art.
Alex is the best!
Alex Ross!! Es el Davinci de los comics!! Mi ilustrador favorito!
Any chance of a studio tour? I'd love to see more of Alex's collections!
i like his aesthetic. reminds me of 60s.
Long time fan here, 20 plus years, and I just want to say that if you ever decide to stop painting (please don't) you could make a living with your voice. Your wife must love that about you. I'm a lady, I know what I'm talking about.
That painting of Space Ghost is amazing ..
Finally a long video!!!!
Great stuff as always. Can you show us your action figures Collection?
"The Devil Boppin Head" on the desk tho..😅
Alex Ross sou um grande fã do seu trabalho sempre me inspira bastante muito obrigado
That voice just come along perfectly with your art 😂
Jerome Latif Sounds like Kevin Conroy.
Hey Mr. Ross I don't know if you answer the comments but if our do: What's your favourite currently running story from either DC or Marvel and your favourite from an indie company? Also, what do you think of Geoff John's work on Doomsday Clock and what do you miss most about the Pre-flashpoint era?
Btw. Your work is fenomenal and I regard you as the Da Vinci of the modern era. Thank you for all you bring into this world.
This is amazing work. Something that I struggle with when I make my own comics is how to handle the pencils after inking. I prefer to erase them all before moving on to coloring, but does this method with Gouache prevent you from needing to erase the pencils and simultaneously bypass the inking stage?
When did comics begin using digital art and how do I know which comics used digital art so I don’t buy them?
Awesome to hear a more extended thought on the subjects. Thank you.
Amazing work.
His artwork is totally lifelike and draws heroes the way they would look in real life.
gracias artistaaa!!
Is this just all watercolor are there oils in there too? With the brush other than airbrush in big areas
Omg I a huge fan of Alex Ross best artist reL tAlk mAkes his stuff beautiful!!!!!! Omg

I love your Drawings Sir
Shout out to one of my favorite things Ross did was the Darth Vader Vs Superman Pic with Sups hand holding the blade of the lightsaber no problem.
Amazing!
Por favor, venha pro Brasil! (Please, come to Brazil!)
His art is worth studying but when I first saw it I could clearly see he is using his face as a model, both formally and informally. The consequence of that is that all of his faces look the same and like him. I admit though I have had the same problem with my art but I am working to overcome it.
modern day fine art
What brand of Gauche do you use?
Wow, really nice work
