    I had stage 3 testicular cancer last year. It spread to my lymph nodes and my lungs. I was devastated. I remember I checked myself one day, and I was fine, The next week, I had a pain in my testicle, and one day later, it ballooned in size and got hard like a rock. I knew something was wrong. I went to the Dr and sure enough, it was cancer. I didn't have the RPLND surgery Tom talks about but I had to do Chemo for 3 months and it was the worst experience I ever had. Apparently, the chemo got rid of everything which I am very grateful for but still under watch from my Oncologist for another year. I know what he means when he says hes a different person, I feel that way also. The old me is gone and have a new outlook on life. If you're a male, DO NOT ignore any signs of something wrong down there, Just go to the Dr.

      Had the same stage, chemo length, and spread almost 10 years ago. Had to get part of my lung removed though. The chemo gets rough, and the brain fog after completing chemo can last pretty long. It took well over a year to feel like my brain was close to where it was before. I used to get pretty frustrated and upset about that. Now, I'm probably in the best shape of my life due to how health concise I've become. It does change you, for sure.
      Definitely wish I checked my balls though. Kids, check your balls.

      @@NocturnalXS Wow. Yeah thanks for the info. My feet are still numb and I hope they will get better soon and I get random pains in random parts of my body and it always scares me its cancer again or something. The more sleep I get the better and I notice I drink a lot of water still. How often do you get lab work done? Im getting lab work and a CT scan every 6 months still.

    I had testicular cancer and spent 4 months of doctors telling me it was everything but that. Because of it I had stage 2, in my lymph nodes. Chemo happened but it gave me a sense of purpose.. a sense of life. I’m sorry Tom went through the pain of surgery to check if it spread when it just took a CT scan for me.

    I had testicular cancer at the same time Tom did and also went through a RPLND. He was treated at USC/Norris Cancer Center and I believe he had the same doctor--Dr. John Stein, RIP--the best doctor I've ever had. Tom was lucky enough to not need chemo but I did. I didn't have the enduring pain from the RPLND that he describes and I don't know anybody else who did but I did have other complications. For him, going with the RPLND was elective but gave him piece of mind that the disease hadn't progressed beyond the testicle. Otherwise, the surveillance protocol would've been brutal for the first few years and he would've constantly been wondering if the cancer would creep up.

    I had it in 2018 and I didn’t really get the full-on cancer “scare” because they made it feel like it was a routine kind of thing and super easy to treat. Like the only way to die from it is if you ignore it and don’t get treated, which some people actually do. I was more worried about long term effects from chemotherapy but I don’t think I really have any. Seems weird to think that I ever went through it. I had the surgery and chemo but no lymph node biopsy because the already found it in the MRI. But I was kicking ass at my very physical job only six months later.

  • @keneticchannel
    @keneticchannel 4 дня назад

    Testicular cancer is one of the most survivable cancers out there....IF you catch it early. Most of the guys who die from it are those ignore the symptoms, feel ashamed to ask for help, or are genuinely confused. And it's heartbreaking that that's the case. I caught my own symptoms suuuuper early because I was already kind of a hypochondriac with high health anxiety. My treatment consisted of an outpatient orchiectomy (the "shucking it out" as Tom said) that was about as invasive and routine as an appendectomy and I was back to office job work less than a week later. But the anxiety that follows any cancer diagnosis can put an immense burden on anyone. Every following scan brings back all of the feelings, even years out of being in remission. Sometimes, the actual treatment is the easiest part.
