BOTH radios are extremely popular and in-demand right now! If the radio is sold-out, keep checking! They get new shipments every week or so, but have been selling out as soon as they arrive - you have to be fast!

The KG-905G is currently sold out so I got to looking around and came across the Wouxun KG-V98. I don't see a whole lot of videos on it besides from overseas. What are your thoughts?
Thanks
Been almost two months and still have not received my order.
Yah, thats what happens when something is extremely popular and demand outpaces supply.

NOPE! After waiting about three months, I just got my KG-905, today. There is NO SOFTWARE DISC included. I am seriously pissed because my computer cannot download ANY software from the BTWR site. How can I get a software disc for a KG-905?
I have the Wouxun KG-805G but I still purchased the 905G. I will use a magnetic mount antenna on the 805G in my truck and carry the 905G outside my vehicle. I'll use a USB power cable to power the charging cradle on the 805G in my truck. Love your videos. It is impossible to keep a straight face listening to you. Keep up the great work!!
I like the way you present the u tubes, your humor is excellent and dry lol . I like the ham slap . Our local hamsters put together a GMRS repeater system that is reaching about 100 miles and add more repeaters it will cover most of the state of eastern Washington. Any way I really like. Your channel . With love from a bed bound 80 year old
This IS the best handheld GMRS for off-roaders, the simplicity of it is what makes it king, and it has the quality feel of a commercial radio someone would use at work, FJB !
I'm brand new to all of this and after watching your videos and appreciating how you don't waste our time with silly entrance videos and useless information, I got this radio. Just received it today. I can't wait to start learning more. Thank you.
Hey Randy, thank you for these videos man. I just bought the KG-905G and the KG-1000G. Dude, you don’t know how happy I am that I stumbled on to your video. Was looking at another brand. Glad you brought up the super heterodyne issue. Again thanks sir.
I have both the KG-805G and the KG-905G! Love them both. The 905G definitely feels more rugged and does not disappoint! Both excellent radios!!
OK, I am sold. I ordered the 905G and with the little money left over after renewal of my GMRS license (still full price) I ordered the 805G. Had to wait a few weeks for both but on June 9 they shipped. Appreciate you sending me the permission for the repeater. Originally ordered the Baofeng 5X GMRS and very glad I cancelled that defective version 1. 5X version 2 will ship in mid July per the manufacturer. I will take quality over cost.
I just ordered one of the 905's today. Happens the place is like 10 miles from me. This will be my first radio. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the videos.
new GMRS operator, got my license 3 weeks ago.
got lucky and found your videos
just ordered the KG905G.
Thanks again
New to the channel, first time commenting…trying not to be a dick. I was just thinking maybe you could use the timer for dead reckoning navigation. But, I don’t know…thanks for the infotainment…comedic timing is amazing.
A stopwatch feature might be nice if you are doing check-ins with a partner, rather than say “top of the hour” check-ins. Also, I’m new to learning about two-way radios, so, your youtube channel, reviews, humor and “on air” personality is absolutely great. I enjoy watching. Keep up the great work. Don’t want to waste any more of your comment space…soooo…I’ll…just say…thanks. And leave it…at that☕️😀🖖🏼
These videos are the best. This guy is a national treasure!
For my birthday, just bought a pair of the 905s based on your review. Thanks for the review. Would love to wheel with you one day - I live in Corona.
My social network and I just purchased 8 of them because of your video. We purchased them 20-August-2022. We all dig them - performance, build-quality, and FPP programming is super easy. I only purchase and recommend transceivers that are Super-Heterodyne with effective front-end filters in order not to get desensitized, cross-modulation, nor frequency drift in close RF environments; hence, when we are in a group and communicating with our other group at a different location, we don’t block each other out. Thanks!!!

Bought one because I saw your review of model KG-805 and this model just came.. Just got it 2 days ago : ). Thanks for your informative RUclips posting. -M.
Based on your trusted review bought 2 for my son, who has his GMRS license. I also commented to BuyTwoWay I bought because of you.
Thanks !
Look. As a ham operator I come here for abuse and I expect to get it. Please don't fail me again. Delivery of my KG905G is expected tomorrow. I do think I'll get another antenna for it. I think more folks should realize you can put a decent mag-mount antenna on your vehicle's roof and, with an adaptor, plug that antenna into your handheld. Really improves an HT's performance in a vehicle and you can always slap the original antenna back on when getting out for a bit of trail walking. (See what I did there? Threw in a little ham-speak just to go 4-bying in your head for a minute.)
GOD!! YOU HAMS AND YOUR ADVICE!!! JEEZ!! Oh Wait
Geez we're tired of your advice.
A fine job you did. Evidenced by the fact they're sold out, and without doubt, the waiting list is getting longer and longer. Nice presentation. Take 2 :)
The timer and stop watch feature can come in handy as 2m/70cm repeater's have the 3 minute time out.
When its your turn on the net for example, having the timer keeps one from getting long winded and running the repeater out. You can either have your info shared in under 3 minutes, or at 2:55 say 'Standby', unkey resetting the repeater, and go again.
Its also nice when having a longer QSO. Set the timer for 10 minutes, then you don't have to worry about giving your call every 2 minutes just because the other guy is.
Did I just out myself as a ham?
Just ordered two using your affiliate link. After having bad luck with my Radidodisuttistrrsy GM30s, I'm excited to get some better radios. I mentioned that a Cub scout dropped one in some water and it seemed fine, but maybe that's why I'm having issues with it now. Can't wait to get the kg905g's
Received my new 905g yesterday, Monday. Thank you for the video.
Well Randy! My kg905g gmrs ht radio is on it's way, will be here Saturday 10/15/22
Will be watching you my friend!
An entertaining channel for sure. I have about a dozen HT's, a box full of FRS's, and just ordered the 905. Just had to have for the collection and had a bug today to buy another radio. Thanks for your good work!
Great videos man! You speak NORMAL “engri” without all the nerdy tech talk like we’re all a bunch of radio engineers out here in “utub-land”!!!
I'm pretty sure that I had two of the first 200 radios that landed in the country. I had my two 905's on Saturday and had tons of fun playing with them. Novice, first time radio owner, I thaink I made the correct choice!
Good GOD man I almost clicked off your video until you said " I don't care what others think" You sir then had my attention.... lol
Glad to see GMRS getting some new gear.
I just bought a second kg 805g 2 days ago, then saw this video today.... argh...the bigger battery and extra weather protection is worth the extra money. Oh well. Love all the Wouxun products.
Ready to buy my first GMRS radio. Looks like the KG-805G is in stock again, but I'm going to wait for the KG-905G. Thank you for the information.
You sold me so I bought the 905G to go with my 935G that you talked me into before. Oh, can't forget the Bao-thong UV-9G and the Radioditty GM-30 too. LOL 🤣
Thanks Randy I bought a 905g because of your video 👍🏻😎
This might be the new hobby that I didn’t know I needed. Also, I fart like a Clydesdale.
Some reviews complain speaker volume is too low for Jeep use. Do you agree? Thanks.
I do not agree.
OK. I asked your thoughts on another video about your recommendation on which GMRS radios to get and this video answered it. Thanks.
I love watching your videos on 2X speed.
Ah... The 10:13 mark of the video instantly brought back some great childhood memories of holding the flashlight for my Dad. If I had a nickel for every time I heard "Focus you piece of shit!" Good times... good times.
Bang, TAG FILLED.... I was at the barbor shop a few years ago, a kid said "daddy don't miss when I hold the light". (Daddy and the lad left kinda quickly). Lol....
Hahahaha. I can’t even... hilarious video. It felt like You really wanted to say “Baofeng”. LOL.
I would need them to bring back Radio Reference for these... I have so many GMRS repeaters programmed. I can drive from MN to KY and be on the Midwest linked repeaters.
I do love the Wouxun battery life. I picked up a 3200mAh battery for one of their other radios and it’s great. Even the standard 2000mAh ones are good.
Really enjoy your videos. Have learned alot. You sure don't make it easy to pick a radio. There are so many.
I have two of the BTech v1 GMRS radios. I’m impressed with there performance
I just want to say thank you for all your knowledge and input thank you so much you make this hobby so much easier to watch your videos thank you partner
Stop watch timer :
Use it to tell how long it was in the Lake.
Or....
To time how long it takes the Basement Dwellers to hijack this vid and push their Kool-aid.
Or, it could be used as a reminder to put one's call sign out on a more regular basis to satisfy the FCC fan bois
Stopwatch could be used to calculate the distance of a repeater that signals contact.🤷🏻♂️
I dig and appreciate your delivery, keep at it.
Does the KG-905G have NOAH weather or can it be programed to get NOAH? If not would like to see Wouxun swap the timer for NOAH lol.
Enjoy your channel and have learned a lot about GMRS.. Thanks!
I really would have liked to see a demonstration of the stopwatch timer. Sounds like a super great feature to have while on the trail. Sad hams would kill for this feature on their expensive Yaesu radios.
🤪😀😂
Our expensive Yaesu's DO have this feature :) FTM400xdr and FT3/FT5 to name a few
I suspect the stop watch is used to land nav between two points.
Randy, A stop watch feature might be useful if your walking and want to know how much time you spent walking with it.
Nothing but the best for Les.... Thank you!
I have a GMRS license and as you stated navigating the atrocious FCC site(s) IS the test and proves those capable to be worthy. What is the battery life [in hours] of these 905's with their 2600mAh cells? Guessing screens that are larger backlit like UV9G-Pro draw more than the 905? Really dig your channel.
When you say you have reached out 26 miles is that radio to radio or is that transmitting through a repeater? I have the midland MXT275 in my truck, now just wanting a hand held to use around the house and or while camping. Treating the unit in the truck as a base station for who ever is at camp. I see you could reach out 69 miles away to hit a repeater but wondering how good the range is while not transmitting through a repeater.
Dang, they are backordered. Thanks for the vid
Just order it any way there good about getting stuff out.
@@bev8200 that's good to hear
I use my stopwatch feature on the 905 for when I use my Roger beep, and time how long it takes the Sam hams to freak out on me.
Which model number mic do they use?
like phones i upgrade every couple of years. so ill wait for the kg1005g 🤣
FCC application has been filed. I ordered the 905G and a programming cable. I have a repeater about 30 miles from me. Confident I can hit it. Thanks
@NotaRubicon Productions Can you confirm if the Wouxun KG-905G is capable of receiving commercial FM Radio reception as the KG-805 can? or perhaps via the programming cable capable of receiving broadcast FM stations? or is it just limited to FRS & GMRS reception?
THEY sent the RIGHT GUY the FIRST Radio! LOL Mr. GMRS!
Love my 905's!
Is the 905 a true 5 w or is it like the nine G4 Watts
Got mine last week. Nice radio for sure - really robust. Really annoying that the charger cable is different from the 805G and there is no lighter or USB power adapter for plugging the charger into the car
That was my question. So, the input voltage of the new charger isn't 12V like the 805G?
Would be nice if there was a battery case too.
The only thing that always stays the best if audiophile headphones.... anyways, will you talk about the baofeng uv-5x?
If you own one of these KG-905G radios, check the Rx frequency on RPT-15. The two I bought from Buy Two Way Radios were set to 462.5000 instead of 462.5500. This bad value seems to also be baked into the programming software defaults.
I own two, and both are set correctly for RPT-15.
Stop...watch...watch...stop...? For the life of me...Oh yes...a cooking timer!
Maybe if you’re out hiking or camping in some remote wilderness and see a grizzly and it decides to charge you from 75 yard you can time how long it takes for it to reach you!? 🤣
Recently subscribed and have now watched a few of your vids. I am officially entertained.
Super informative and funny as hell. Thanks, and great work!
Hey hey..love your videos! I'm new to the whole GMRS..just received my sign..my question to you bc I haven't seen it yet...is what is the best antenna for the kg-905g? These are the ones I just purchased. Main use is wheeling in the woods with our jeep friends. Is the stock antenna best or should I upgrade to a better one to get better transmission through the trails..trees..ridges.
Ext.
Thanks
DJ
I have a [QUESTION],
Specifically about the V.O.X. & operation with other loud noises. Will the VOX key the mic because of other loud noises and is there a way to change at what decibels it picks up noise?
Based on your wonderful video's, (and thank you) I'm about to buy a couple of them for me and my dirt-bike buddy but am worried that even with a headset inside a helmet that the engine noise would be constantly keying the mic. Any way you could possibly test this for me with a pillow or something? (could make a fun video, different extreme testing for in the field)
Mine doesn't seem to save my squelch adjustments. Is this a problem with the kg905g?
Any special antenna mods?
Good review Randy! You’re making your UV-5R jealous! 😎
How about a comparison between them?
2.5k views but no likes? Dubya tee eff😒 i liked it😊
Just backordered 2 of them. Wanted 2 nagoya antennas in the same order to not pay shipping twice, but cant backorder those.
I gotta stop watching your great succinct videos out of order, as I just ordered the 805G on sale (Backordered), ...but I'm new to all this so it should still work to get me started while still being compatible with my Midland FRS's.
you sort of got my attention with it being able to withstand water from powerful jets , But a stop watch timer?! IM IN!
as always, Thank you for your reviews and information
Good review. Your presentation style always cracks me up. Keep up the good work.
I am interested in getting this radio. Any opinions on a good aftermarket antenna to extend range?
I live in Northern San Diego county & within about 20 miles or so of Palomar Mountain.
How do you get into the Palomar Mountain Repeater? Frequencies & tones?
I’m really enjoying my pair of Wouxun KG-805G’s.
Thanks for another great video! 👍🏻 Cheers 🥂- John
On the KG-905G what does the talk around option do on the programable P1 button ?
Just bought a twofer of these radios and I'm a little disappointed in their performance. I've been using Motorola T200 radios and they'll work for me out to about 0.45 mi in my suburban neighborhood. Tried out the KG-905g radios these evening and they maxed out at 0.60 mi. This is line of sight along the same path with both radios. Used a higher power channel on both the 905g and T200s. Am I missing something here? For the price, I expected much better performance.
Granted, the build quality and customization of the 905G are far and away better than the T200. Just wish the range was better. Also, it would be great if it had NOAA capability.
Love the channel, btw.
If you are getting only .60 mile LINE OF SIGHT, then you're doing it wrong or something has gone horribly wrong.
@@TheNotaRubicon After rereading my above comment, I was somewhat deceptive. I meant line of sight distance, as the crow flies. There is some topographical relief (30 feet), a few trees, and homes between the two points.
I just started watching your Videos about a week ago and love them. Also you remind me of Griffin Gluck from the movie 'Just go with it'.
I got mine Monday (3/8/2021). Have you heard that the tight knobs is consistent? Is it a feature or an issue? Mine are not tight and feel like any other radio. Other than the normally higher quality that Wouxun is known for. Very solid radio. I live in a mountainous area. Doing a range check today with others.
The tight knobs are a feature for me! havnt heard anything else about it.
How was the Range Check?
Can you charge the battery separately from the radio? (So you can be using the radio with one battery and be charging a different spare battery at the same time)
Yes!
My friend just bought two of these and he is still trying to figure out how to program repeaters in them. I told him the instructions are so easy anybody can do it I don't know why he can't figure it out.
What? No flashlight on it? That might be a deal killer. But, then again, it does have that stopwatch....
Can you listen to non gmrs channels with this radio? Like weather or emergency frequencies?
The radio is able to receive in the range of 400-479.995 MHz - using the software you can store up to 256 channels/frequencies and scan through them.
Were you successful in adding the channel(s) tones or frequencies for weather or emergency channels?
Does anybody wants to buy my KG-805G with extras 😂😂 , I want to buy this new radio that just came out 😅🤣👍🏽
Missing from these videos is a critical factor: charging the unit when AC is not available. Does the charging unit support USB? Is there a car cord?
No USB charge.
Have any of the Wouxun gmrs radios been ported to chirp?
Stop watch timer to help remind you when to send your callsign?
Thanks for all the reviews!! New to gmrs and your videos have helped out a lot. Thinking the 905G are the ones for me with being on a farm that can get extremely dusty at times!! Thanks again!
Awaiting the Lake drop test before I buy.....
Ha ha .
Or......
Ok, really I’m awaiting the non-Back order status.
Ordered the 905G today. Looking forward to using it.
Can you use the 805G battery on the 905G?
No.
@@TheNotaRubicon that was quick! Thanks!
Randy or someone like yourself (down to earth)
Just got the kg905g gmrs 5watt today-
9/20/22
Question, what is the power output ACROSS THE BOARD? CAN IT BE
COMPARED TO THE,
BTECH V2 5WATT?
thanks ever so much, will wait for a REPLY!🙋
Power output varies between radios, even of the same model, but yes, the power output of the KG905G is comparable to the V2...
It is also important to bear in mind that power-output is not the most important factor in fars. A good, properly tuned antenna will impact fars more than the difference between 3 watts and 5 watts.
@@TheNotaRubicon do you believe as I do that the 771g is the best antenna for the V2 and kg905g unit?
Wondering if you have had any experience with swapping out the antenna on you HT’s? It seems from your videos that you have not found a need to.
Thanks for your great Vid’s!
I use a few different antennas - see this video for how to squeeze-out a litte more distance from your hand-held: ruclips.net/video/HI--NFhU6VQ/видео.html
I hope you'll dive into the full features of this radio and esp, how to save new channels to other channel locations, rename, etc., from the front end. Easy w the software.
Not able to find this radio anywhere . . . on backorder?
Quick question for ya, are you able to change the roger beep (noise) on the kg-905g
Yes! You can change it to OFF or to ON .
@@TheNotaRubiconyes, but are you able to customize the beep at all. I assume not after doing all my research and playing around with it. Thank you btw
Great video Randy, as always. Couple of questions. Is the LCD screen multicolored? Does it receive FM radio? Do they make a battery eliminator like the KG805G? Thanks!
Single color LCD
No FM Radio
Yes! The Wouxun ELO-005 Battery Eliminator works with the 905G
Awesome! Thanks Randy!
Good stuff here. 👍👍😎🇺🇸
CRAP!!! I just ordered my KG-805G and is getting to me tomorrow.
send it back
Ya gotta take your show on the road!!!
The timer is to remind a user to identify every 15 min.
