@@user-qh4dn8ke6x The sentences run concurrently so he's serving three sentences at the same time. That's why he's eligible for parole after 30 years. You need to serve at least 2/3rd of your sentence before you can be eligible for parole. "Life" is on average 70 years plus the 7 makes 30ish years. And "eligible for parole" doesn't mean "will definitely be paroled". In all likelihood, he will die in prison. Everyone thinks the system is broken until they hammer is about to fall on them.

for those who don't know, something interesting about the fucci case is that when she had the jar of stones for each of the stab wounds, she pulled the stones out of a bag and dropped them in the jar one by one. the court had to sit in silence for over a hundred clinks that let the horrendousness of the stabbing sink in. i just thought that was interesting.

I went to highschool with Jacob Morgan and my older brother was actually friends with him and to this day it disgusts me how his parents treated him. He had the mind and mannerisms of a child, he rode the short bus to school, he was in the special needs classes in B building, he went by monkey bc he liked acting like one, I could go on and on explaining his childlike mental state but I won't. My point is his parents forced him to watch his baby brother everyday KNOWING all that was wrong with him, KNOWING that he was obsessed with pyrotechnics, KNOWING that he was unfit to watch a child let alone a baby and then when the inevitable happened they swept the rug from underneath him and claimed he had no mental health problems. I think about him and this case often, he didn't deserve any of this

Just a note, but the video at the start isn't actually of a seven year old being sentenced to jail. It's actually him testifying against his mother. Here's the context.
The boy you saw was A.J Hutto, brother of Adrianna Hutto, and son of Amanda E. Lewis. One day, Amanda drowned Adrianna, and subsequently killed her, and when it was found out she lied, A.J had to testify against her, due to him actually witnessing Adrianna's death. Thanks to his statement (which, had changed multiple times during the investigation), Amanda is now spending her life in jail.

People are not detached rational agents. They usually react to their emotions rather than the facts of the case. If your child is a murderer, that's a harrowing fact to live with, so most people in that situation will desperately try to convince themselves that the reality can't be true so they don't need to experience those emotions. You can't ignore reality forever and remain sane, though, so most people eventually snap out of it. But trails usually happen too soon for you to see them come around

6:42 He deserved far worse than what he got, but I do have to point this out, given what I do know about how this works. Lawyers advise and coach their clients to show no emotion during the trial. Think of it as a poker face because that is what it is. If you show emotion and react to some things, the jury is likely to take notice and use that against you. If they don’t see it, and the prosecutor does, you are dead meat. It doesn’t matter if you are innocent. They will make an honest reaction to being falsely accused of horrible things appear to be damning against you. If the jury sees or finds out, it can easily be used against you. That is why lawyers coach their clients to show nothing.
Not many know about this. So, it’s just a bit of information over how things work in the courts for those of you who don’t know the details. Not an attack against y’all. Have a good day.😁👍🏼

How can emotions be used against them, if he looks innocent and shows shocked at the sentence isn't it helpful for them to trick the jury, at the least to side with them

    • @shadowdraco8660
      @shadowdraco8660 6 месяцев назад +6

@@nagahumanbeingzooofparticl8836 There are different ways a jury & a judge can react and interpret to the defendant showing emotion. Appearing shocked, angry, sad, happy, or anything of the sort can be construed in a negative way. Prosecutors know this and will take advantage of anything you give them. Sure, showing emotion has the possibility of helping you, but the risk is too high. A lot of defense attorneys don’t bother defending their clients like they should, so they try getting through the trial with as little trouble as possible. Them doing this leaves the door open for prosecutors to walk all over the defendant. They also try making their clients plead guilty no matter if their client is innocent. The system is overwhelmed, so the attorneys and judges typically just try pushing people through so they can move onto other cases. Sometimes, prosecutors are adamant about litigating the case because the defendant deserves no mercy, or they perceive it to be that way. Once in a long while, the prosecution is only trying to pin the blame for something on someone, so any sign which could be reasonably construed as proof of your guilt is bad. If you are convicted, then showing emotion might be alright, but it may be cause bad results when sentencing comes around. After decisions and sentencing is when I have normally seen well coached defendants show emotions. Keep in mind that I am not a lawyer. I’m going off of what I have learned in law and law enforcement classes with a teacher who was a cop, and from watching multiple trials. Some of those trials, I watched live. I remember watching the Amber Guyger trial in class.
There are exceptions to the unwritten rule, but I haven’t seen many of those cases. The only one I can recall is Amber v Johnny which is a good example of an exception to the don’t show emotion rule. In my opinion, highly publicized cases which involve prominent people are more likely to be exceptions. I may be wrong though about some things, so take it with a grain of salt. I always encourage people to do their own research so we all don’t get duped as easily as the media and government (both right and left), want us to be. You have a good day my dude, and I hope you have a good thanksgiving next week.😁👍🏼

But I have no doubt that there’s parents who really tried, putting in every ounce of everything they had to be a good parent and to raise a good and happy kid with potential and opportunities, as most parents do. Then having to live the rest of your life knowing the kid you tried so hard to raise properly intentionally took a life away from another family and forever destroyed the lives of everyone who loved them. Id honestly probably just off myself and hope it brought some closure to someone.

People with autism have a hard time thinking through their actions. A lot of what they do and how they react to things is based of feelings in that moment, most times they aren’t thinking long term. They have trouble communicating, processing emotions and things going on around them. This being said, that boy deserves an appeal. Obviously what he did was severe but I could tell just by the way he reacted he will not do well in jail, someone like that at least deserves a chance to be rehabilitated or even put under special care to help his emotions. It’s hard to see people that have no understanding of how these peoples minds work try this boy as any other person and it’s just unfair. Rest in peace to the little boy

Since the ages vary state by state in the US there really wouldn’t be a direct age for it but they likely follow a set of rules similar to that.

And honestly I think that is a perfect example of when mental health is the better sentence. He obviously is a pyromaniac and he needs to get treatment. So his sentence should be served in a mental health institue. Not saying it should be lessened. But if he is autistic, a prison sentence will only cause more harm and make him more likely to be a repeat offender.

I always felt that how you hurt someone you need the same thing done to you.. example you shoot and kill someone, same thing needs to happen to them, an Eye for an Eye, or "Treat others as you would expect to be treated"I am kind of tired of hearing "Mental Issues" being the cause for this unexeptable behavior

@@conner_H-TOWN I am the commenter's son and I'll be defending him on his behalf.
While murder is Unacceptable sending a child to prison is unjust.
Children are young and impressionable. Putting them in a prison would warp their sense of what's right or wrong and while prison is supposed to change and rehabilitate it would be different for the child.
Their morals or humanity will deteriorate.

@@tele8988 While that may be true you have to take into consideration the age and maturity of the children that are being sentenced.
Some did stupid things and others are down right sadistic.
It's very easy for children to change.
While it's hard for adults to change.
Life in prison gives them no time to change as a person.
Once a person is deemed as a murderer they can never escape the lable.
      They are ruined.
Society will never let them change even though that is the true purpose of prison.

@@user-uy5ml4gq8s you are correct brother but court will give them chance if they are doing well in jail and improving themself and children have different jail than adult. and if a mistake is done it can never be undone so ya justice should be done.

People that can murder are bad enough as sometimes there are circumstances we do not know , like sexual abuse by a relative, etc, but those that can dismember a body, should never see the light of day as that mind is more than disturbing which you cannot repair. I believe anyone can kill if someone is trying to kill you and you are fighting back for your life. Other than being in that situation which would need to be severe, could never kill someone. War is different.
