Why do we vlog? And is there a wrong reason to vlog? In this edition of Motonosity Real Talk, I discuss vlogging just for the sake of gaining subscribers or making money. That is, making videos specifically targeted to do these things without regard for what YOU want to do. Motovlogging just because you want to be popular or make money.
Is it bad? Do people do it? Where do you draw the line?

ME GUSTA, little heads up to, there's no money to be made on youtube unless your in the 500,000+ sub range with that traffic like you said. BUT it gives you customability to your channel as well as being able to appeal a copyright dispute. Good MotoVlog bro, plus these companies just take it all any way lol. Editing and entertainment is key and most of all having fun being yourself :)

Although it is nice to get some gas in the tank, sometimes I wonder what it would be like if the money was never involved. I'd still probably just be making videos for my brothers... but they would probably be more fun. The money has upped my effort on the videos, and I've learned a lot of editing stuff. For a poor guy like me, the money helps justify keeping the bike.

I couldn't agree more. I make videos that I like that are fun for my friends to watch. If other folks like them great. If you want't to make cash on RUclips get your cat do do a stupid trick. A lot easier than doing moto videos.

Ha, yeah! It would be a dream job to be able to motovlog as your full-time job! It's so fun!! Alas, that's never gonna happen. I would never be able to quit my day job, nor would I think that's wise.

I motovlog because I love to ride, talk and meet new people.. its a great way to make friends from all over the world that share the same passion that I have..the love of 2 wheels.. I am not set up on RUclips for making money..or I really don't care about sub numbers.. I'm not hung up on that..I just love making the vids and making friends along the way..the subs are just a bonus for me.. :)

Good job on this topic. I have no desire to be a YT partner; I just do it because I enjoy what I do & I like video-journaling my journey...say that 10x fast! I don't even know how many subs I have. And, yeah, I like being original; I can't stand how some vloggers copy other vloggers!!! That's why I did my 'dance your own dance' vid instead of the harlem shake...it's my own thing, my own idea...it's how I roll! =)

I have been monetizing my videos for quite some time now and have yet to see 1 penny of any sort of earnings. However, the friendships I have made everywhere from Austrailia to Canada, Hawaii to NYC, Washington to Virginia hold 1 billion times more value than any dollar made. I can go to bed every night knowing that there are people that will love my vids no matter what I upload no matter how frequent or infrequent I upload them. And I feel no pressure to have to upload them. That's why I do it.

Great Video. i started vloging to show all the youtubers around the world my views and literally views of the 5 boroughs of New York City. All the sites. I started 2 weeks ago and i love it. I have made many friends and it is becoming a passion. Hope you enjoy my videos like i enjoy yours.

I think the sub count is just an indicator of the quality of your content. I wouldn't change my videos to get more subs, but I think I'll gain more subs as I become a better motovlogger. Either way the goal should be having fun, and sharing our hobby with other people... not trying to earn money.

i had the same idea as you, i want to make videos as i learn, (getting a bike soon) but now i fell like i'm copying you, i don't want to do that but i still want to start moto vloging. Im not doing it for money or anything like that. And it that the SV 650 again?

Hey i noticed your breaks squeaked at 9:57, mine do that too.. i looked it up online and it says its due to slow braking (which you did) is that what is the source of it? i know there are a lot of reasons but i would like to hear your input on this and set my mind at ease :)

  • @Maghau6

Like, sorry to say this but I use adblock.. (I'd smash my computer without it). So i feel alittle bad when I watch my favorite motovloggers (including you), knowing that you dont make money of me. But like you said, you are not here for the money so that makes me feel abit better.
I agree that your how to video's are very good, but yeah.. you see where I come from with it :P Thats good :)

  • @Maghau6
    @Maghau6 11 лет назад

The how to do video's, I feel like everyone does them. and like, it's many people who has already done them and still there is new ones. That ''pisses me off'', seeing the same thing again and again :P And something I can tell you is that you dont make the money you see off your views or subs, cause many of them uses pograms like adblockpluss etc, and then I hear that you dont make money off it. But, it's nice to dont have spam comming too.. :P

I was Vlogging tutorials for computers on How - To, Then got a bike and kinda kept on going with the bike, Not How - to's But more on how not to, lol I got my bike in December started Vlogging with it in Jan 2013 And not a youtube partner at the time.
So in short i do it for FUN, And watch others to learn and of course for the Scenery.
I would say there is a lot of Entertaining videos as well as ones to learn from.
Being a partner is just a bonus if you get the chance, Great Topic!

Great topic. Also started off watching blinky for his intro to motorcycling vids. From there I found DS83, Chase, ZMagic, Billmaa, Midnight, and I was hooked.
Knew I recognized that road. Makes me miss UT. Austin is a great place to live.

I agree you do tend to see videos that have been re-done and yes that's their channel and they do what they want but my idea is BE ORIGINAL IS KEY and if your doing it do it for your sub's to entertain them and show them your perspective of things..not for money in the end if you do get money ok that's a plus...great topic keep it up

  • @TheBigGiant_SpaceChiken

I agree 100% with what you said. Plus if you vlog because you enjoy it, you´ll transmit that to your audience and they´ll connect with you as a person. When that happens, people will care about what you have to say. That´s one of the reasons I subscribe to your channel for example...I think you´re a cool person, thus I enjoy your videos.

  • @DearMajesty

Continuing from my last comment...I love motorcycles, cars, boats, planes, jet skis. I love helping people and informing people about these things. I'm more about riding style, proper riding techniques, how-to's, and how things work. I haven't made a video in quite a while because I haven't had a camera but hoping to make more soon...just crashed yday and it is fucking with my life.

  • @DearMajesty
    @DearMajesty 11 лет назад

I have never motovlogged, but I have made a few how-to and informational videos. I thought it would be cool to get a few subscribers and some views (popularity I guess..), but the videos I took were mostly niche (don't need to add to the junk on youtube + money is nice too). If I didn't think I could make a video that was unique or significantly improved on other videos on youtube, then I wouldn't put it up. I think getting subs and a little money on adsense was fun and cool.

people should not focus on the cash, people gonna make garbage .in the end ,look at the gaming side of youtube the big commentator most of them play call of duty and don't like minecraft ,what are they doing? playing freaking minecraft because minecraft has a big audience more money

  • @JustRide4Fun8

Great words man, totally agree with you .Motovlogging should be seen as thing you do with joy and because you like not just for fame or money, those two things will come later perhaps, but in the begining you should not count with that. Just my opinion btw these series are awesome keep the good work.

I choose to want a motorcycle, but being a college student in Canada, it's difficult. Won't be able to get a bike for another couple years :( at least the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter every day ;)
    btw nice video

Agree on main topic, but I think the harlem shake thing is something that ppl just had fun with. Also when ppl force things and topics that everyone is doing the ppl that sub notice I think. Eventually they will get weeded out.

On the topic of vloggers copying each others video topics, if I ever see another drift vs. gopro video again I'll reach through the screen and slap somebody. Good to see the SV650s back in action, thought you sold it.

13mordeth certainly only does it for the money. I subbed at first, but found his videos to be dry and repetitive. Plus he always talks about the "exclusive content" you can only get by becoming a member on his site. Annoys me.

They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, but I wonder if they say that because originality is so hard to come by or they are just too lazy.
