DANGEROUS Fuel Spill and Tough Lessons: New motorcycle rider in the RAIN:

- It had to happen sooner rather than later and this week we've had some really bad wet weather. It brought some new challenges to my riding but luckily I'd got kitted out with new riding gear with the advice from via-moto.co.uk/. This gear was chosen by myself and bought with my own money. Then something unexpected happened.
Visit our sister channel all about our motorhome adventures @stchristopherofatlantis
To stop visor steaming up on inside rub a pickled onion on it won't stop the misting but will give you a craving for a pork pie😂
This is comment of the week!!!
@@bikerofatlantisI agree that’s classic
@@bikerofatlantisDid you not condition your leather jacket with beeswax?
Misting up washing up liquid good on inside of the visor you can blow bubbles as you ride down the road get rid of the onion smell too
Every time I leave a petrol station I drag the soles of my shoes on the floor to remove any fuel that I may have stood on
Andy. As a new biker myself of six months at the age of 64 I’m looking forward to your journey towards you getting your full licence. I occasionally rode my mates bikes in the 70’s without a licence, but circumstances meant I went straight into cars and never really thought about taking my test. Best thing I ever did though and I love the freedom it brings when your on the open roads. I think you will find that moving up to a bigger bike will make things a lot easier for you, especially the height you are. I didn’t enjoy the initial CBT on a 125cc. I found them too small and snatchy. As soon as we moved up onto a Yamaha MT07 for MOD 1 stuff it became so much more comfortable and enjoyable. Anyway got through both MODS first time and I’ve already bought and owned a beautiful Triumph 660 sport which I then traded in for a glorious Honda CB1000r. It is a thing of beauty. So much power when needed but such an easy bike to ride and handle. More power to you matey and keep Claire involved in this adventure as she is brilliant to watch as well. Loved your travel vlogs as well by the way, especially the ones in Northumberland where I live. Great motorcycle riding County by the way.😊
Hello. We loved beautiful Northumberland
Thanks for watching our videos
Love the biker advice. Stay safe. Hope to see you in the road 👍
Yeah you did the weave wrong. You should go on the outside of the two rows of cones not down the middle.
Just remember for the wet keep the bike more upright use counter balancing and go slow leave more space around cars. The more power you have the easier it is to spin the back tire. Smooth inputs on the throttle and brakes. I think you have abs so that might or might not help depending on how the computer is programmed. Personally I would rather trust myself over a computer but it is what it is. Good luck. You are a brave man trying to commute on the bike in the UK. I ride mine in fair weather almost exclusively. Rain gear in the saddle bag just in case I run into something that wasn’t forecasted or on long distance rides.
You’re spot on regarding filtering crossing white lines however I never filter over double white lines in queues of traffic ie road works on fast bendy roads. Always get Diesel on roads around fuel stations, people overfilling tanks. You can’t see it in the dry but it’s still like riding on ice. In the wet it rainbows.
Take super care on roundabouts near filling stations. Avoid turning on white lines, mini roundabouts, grates & manholes in the wet.
hi thanks for watching and this advice, it is appreciated 👍👍
You have to go around the offset cones
😂😂👍
Love the idea of your being interviewed by your wife. You two clearly have a great relationship and it’s lovely to hear your progress revealed through your conversations. Also super impressed with your steady, diligent approach to learning this new skill. It’ll serve you well.
Hi Steve, Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Just so you know, as a seasoned motorcyclist, if you ride in proper rain, no matter what you wear you will get wet eventually. The cheapest, driest option is waterproof plastic stuff like the yellow shit.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Yes, the yellow shite is good, like an oilskin, I have a grey suit out of the same stuff, seems to have shrunk over the years lol.
For the cone drill, I suspect you have to go on the outside of the cones rather than the inside which it looked like you where doing in the video.
The path you took you could have gotten through the cones going in a straight line, if you go around each cone on the outside it will increase the difficulty quite a bit, and you'll be able to track your progress much more accurately.
Just finished watching your first few videos than you uploaded this one, perfect timing!
Hi. Thanks for watching and this advice 👍
Was thinking the same
Your head should be literally 90° looking into the turn, don’t look down. Keep the revs up & trail the rear break. When you come to a stop keep the bars straight & look ahead. Best of luck with training, it brings back memories.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Very nice kit, hmmmm, I might take a look at that, I need new winter kit. Mine is looking a bit worn, well very worn. It wouldn't win any fashion competition. Always nice to see how your getting on with your riding. My first time out today for 2 weeks due to work , whoop whoop. And the sun is shining 🌞☀️
Hi. Enjoy your ride out. Have a great one 👍👍👍👍👍👍🏍️
Re - filtering anf overtaking. On broken line you are perfectly fine if you see it safe. The only thing I disliked about it on last video was the approach to the kerb island. I would just slot behind the car, not trying to sneak in there. You won't get stuck for long, get past it, and off you go. Some people don't like filtering, but each to their own. I'm fine with it.
Re- Pinlock - it's like a double glazed window, isn't it. But it has to seal well to perform. As you took the pinlock out, you would have noticed the see-through sticky O-Ring. When you install the pinlock, you ought to inspect it, and verify the seal contacts everywhere. If there is a gap, it will fog up. If you need to close a gap, you can rotate the pins that hold the pinlock. They are slightly excentric. In rain I would not ride with cracked visor. I only do that as I come to stop.
Hi. Thanks for watching, this is great advice and it is appreciated
👍👍👍
Hi good stuff mate, do your self a favour get a side camera Which record from Front and rear at the same time, And will attach at the side of the Helmet , i have one and has helped me a lot watching it back Especially from rear. I have a TECHALOGIC DC-2 PRO.
Hi. Will look into this, thank you 👍
I started riding again about 14 years ago after not touching a bike for 30 odd years and I have always lifted my visor up a little to help with condensation, keep up the good work you’re doing good 🏴👍
Hi. Thanks for the advice and watching
We are in Wales at the moment 🏴
Those pinlocks you are having trouble with, not many people realise those pinlock pins are actually little cams that can be rotated to tighten up or loosen the pinlock lenses. Doesn't really make all that much difference though, I still have to leave my visor slightly open in the rain 😆
Hi. Thanks for this 👍👍
This comment is spot on. I had the same issue and my parts guy rotated the little cams where they hook on the inside nubs to get a tight seal.
Hatched road Markings! Legal or not, I understood that you should treat them as a Traffic Island and not Ride/Drive over them but, as I said, Legal or not, here is a big reason to really be cautious. The reason you want to over take in a single file lane is "Normally" the traffic has slowed to a crawl or stopped. This normally means that further on down the road is some kind of obstruction, you know this and so do the car drivers, who are probably locals and know of a short cut to get past the obstruction, this may well mean that they will do a U-Turn in a place where it is easier not to do a three point turn, like a place that has Cross Hatch Road Markings for turning into a Supermarket, just as you ride past!
The fact that you are questioning yourself and situations is a good thing!
Indicators, a little orange flashing light on your light cluster?
My 1981 Kwak 750 LTD had self cancelling Indicators, I don't know how far back that little trick goes back
Bike Cleaning, I found the Best thing is a "Good Wife", but don't DON'T, let her polish your Hand Made leather seat!!!! Don't ask...

Hi, I am 68 and have gone back to riding after 40 years. I have a Royal Enfield 350 Hunter. Your journey into biking is so enjoyable to watch. Love your enthusiasm and commitment. Your wife’s comments adds a special ingredient to your channel. Looking foward to more progress and advice from viewers.
You have a beautiful bike 👍
Thanks for watching
Riding in the rain, as you have discovered, needs a lot more concentration. Everything needs to be smooth, clutch, brakes and acceleration. I did smile when you said about the waterproofing qualities of leather....or not! Leather likes to absorb water, so isn't ideal in the rain. I maintain that leather is the best for protection, having been bounced down the road on a GS550 chop, back in about 1992 (a car had driven into the back of me) and being able to walk away with just sore ribs. No armour, just padding. Textile jackets are very advanced now but I am old, so stick with leather and wax cotton. And ex army waterproofs, although the Oxford gear looked pretty good.
Diesel is the blood of Satan. Hit a patch once and slid sideways into a roundabout!
I have always maintained that slow riding is where the real skill is. Nothing more satisfying to me than to be able to control a bike at walking pace, especially if it is a big cruiser. It could be that I am just naturally a slow rider, or 'sedate' as my bike club used to refer to my riding style?
I am enjoying your journey. Always happy to see another person getting into biking.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day ☀️☀️☀️
SOME PEOPLE ADD A BUZZER TO THE INDICATOR CIRCUIT THAT YOU CAN HEAR. ALSO I DID MY CBT AND GOT A SUZUKI MARAUDER 125. I FOUND TRYING TO DO SOME OF THE SLOW SPEED VERY DIFFICULT AS THEY ARE A SMALL CRUISER. MOD 1 IS ON A 650 STREET BIKE WHICH IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM YOUR KEEWAY 125. I INTENDED TO GET A VULCAN 900 BUT AFTER I DID MOD 1 I ENDER UP GETTING A STREET BIKE (ER6). That was me though fella. KEEPS YOUR REVS HIGH, SLIP THECLUTCH CONSTANTLY (BIG NO NO IN A CAR BUT STANDARD ON A BIKE) IT WILL FEEL WRONG AS A CAR DRIVER. YOU MAY STRUGGLE WITH FIGURE OF 8
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day ☀️
This is great stuff. After 31 years of driving cars I’ve got my CBT next week. Really nervous about it all so these videos are of real help. It’s like a try before you buy! 😂💪🏼👍🏻
Good luck hope you have a good one 👍👍👍
The helmet thing is humidity in the helmet, some helmets vent better than others, my HJC RPHA70 is great at staying fog free in the rain, whereas my K3-SV is awful at it, nothing wrong with the Pinlock it’s just not a one trick pony it just helps towards keeping the visor clear
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
with the gear you have, you look like you should be sitting on an ADVenture bike, Maybe a Versys 300 or 650, Honda CB500X (I personally wouldn't touch anything European, I'd rather spen 2/3's the amount on a Japanese bike and add the reduced servicing and repair costs to the saving of the purchase price and get a second one for the wife after a year, rather than have a Euro bike spend more time at the dealer getting fixed than actually enjoying it)
👍👍
You are doing well,, on visor ,and pin lock ,, I just got the bike shop to fit pin lock for me they were ,, happy to do so for me , saves faffing ,,, . You will get used to filling up and service stations ,,, comes with experience and you are working well with that ,,,, practice makes perfect well done .
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
When it comes to pinlocks. Both me and my bud both had fogging on the pinlock itself.
And what I noticed is that very often it comes from us being a tad nervous and breathing heavy, he was completely new to biking this year. I had it when i started motorbiking and I get it everytime i've switched bike. Because i'm not sure of the bike yet and haven't ahd the time to build that trust.
So i'm thinking you as a relatively new driver i'm sure you get a bit anxious or nervous going onto the road, with lots of new things to see and experience, just check your breathing when it starts to fogg up, it might just be you unconsciously breathing heavy.
Good point
Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Btw....do you know about the local biker hangouts in Rotherham and Maltby... Nice bunch of lads n lasses
Need to look into those…
yep wet brakes... in a car they are out of the weather so don't get rain going directly on them and because the discs are much thicker, they retain heat for longer which helps to dry them out. on a bike they are getting water falling directly on them and cool off much quicker so they don't dry as well. it just means giving a little brake a few times before you need to stop, and that lets anyone behind you have pre warning that you are slowing down too, just like tapping the rear brake gently to make the light work before and after you change down a gear (because changing down & letting off the throttle can slow the bike much quicker than it can on a car)
if the weave (slalom) seems too easy, leave the cones where they are and go on the opposite side of them. if it's still easy, bring them closer together. the ones we do at bike night are spaced way to the left and right, it's almost like doing a series of U turns in opposing directions.
My 250 does an average of 32km/L with normal commuting, but my ride today was kind of slow & boring because everyone wanted to do urban speeds on the open road for some reason, so I got 37.5km/L (106mpg Imp)
Diesel... the best friend of boy racers with guttles cars that want to do burnouts. I sure is slippery, My first encounter with Diesel on the road was truly accidental. the car slid, I over corrected and spun around the other way and hit the curb with the rear wheel, it bent the wheel and the axle. not something I ever want to encounter on the bike. but at least I know what to look for now, I didn't back then!
pinlock. I know what's coming... the fogging! I keep the visor up on the first click when it rains, or even just first thing in the morning. If you're not going fast enough to get any air into the vent, the visor fogs up in seconds.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Well done Mate. Leather jacket and armoured jeans for summer.
Textile suit for Winter.
I think you've already found that you have to pay much more attention to the road surface when you are on your bike, including foot placement when you come to a halt.
I think comment of the week has to go to your Claire though.
NASA? How far you going, will you be back for your tea? 10/10.👍
Ride safe bud.
( Get some Heated grips for winter)
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day ☀️☀️☀️
The interaction between you two is great to watch. Keep up the riding and when you get to Spring next year your confidence will be sky high having negotiated a winter safely.
Fantastic observation about petrol stations, I always approach them with great care on my 310kg cruiser.

Hi. Thanks for watching and your comment. I never noticed in the car!
Keep safe
Your pinlock problem, before fitting smear a small amount of vaseline around the seal, I know who'd have thought vaseline had another use ;)
We didn't have fancy things like pinlocks and rain x when I started. We had a good old bar of shield soap, other brands are available and if you want to go up market Imperial leather, but only at Xmas lol. Smear the tiniest amount on your visor and it steams up no more.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Weaving: from what I can see you're going the wrong side of the cones. They're offset so you should be going left of the ones on the left etc. the way you did it, you could just thread the needle and go straight line down the middle. Saying that the weaving you were doing and some dry weather, I think you'll be just as comfortable.
Overall nice channel, good to see people begining their journey and not just showing off their 4th intercontinental tour of the year. You and your co-host also seem to have genuine chemistry and enthusiasm, I like it.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Just discovered this channel and i love it, thankyou for sharing. Im 57 and looking into getting a 125, maybe a KTM Duke, this is why i find these videos fascinating. I also found your other channel, me and my gf cant wait to get into bed at night and catch up with your camper shenanigans 🤪
Love this comment thank you
See you on the road in your 125 👍😊
points - yes you can cross into a hatched area with broken white lines and about the indicator, in law you do not act only on an indicator, if you are the other driver. If you pull out because the other driver / rider is falsely indicating, you would be prosecuted in an accident. However that said, self preservation tells you indicate correctly. I broke my neck of femur / hip on diesel coming off at 31 mph on my push bike. It took me 5 months and an operation to get back on the bike and 5 years before I could no longer feel the effects at all. It has left me with my right leg being 17 mm shorter than my left leg, because it is so hard for the surgeons to get the connection angle right in the operation, whilst fitting the 3 canula hip screws. Best tip - avoid oil or diesel completely, I would say, if at all possible, especially in the wet. By the way, from a karate level training and safety point of view, you have obviously progressed well having belts and braces now lol.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Never thought of using rain x on my lids visor. The way most folks deal with the rain drops is to wipe the visor with their fore fingers (left hand normally). Your gloves may have different material there for this purpose. Drizzel is more of a pain in the backside for wiping away than a full-blown chucking it down.
Problem i can see with the rainx making the rainbow blobs as such would be due to the plastic. Well I'd hazard the guess.
So many different ways of doing things, but mines cleaned inside and out mild soapy water and dried with soft kitchen roll or blue roll.
Not had any experience with pi locks yet but would make my life easier instead of my visor and gecks misting over. 😂
Aye oils defo a bar-steward 😅
Have fun riding and awaiting the next episode.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
To protect bike through winter. Have it coated in acf50 be carefully though if it goes on brake discs they will stop working as it's that slippy and it's almost impossible to clean off

223 miles out a tank! That's really good. This time of year is pretty hairy with wet roads, leaves, and the dreaded diesel. Doesn't half make your arse grip the saddle . Good man, keep at it .

I got that rainex stuff and I find it’s completely useless
Also keep up the videos, really good

Great video.
Keep doing what you are doing.
As I've said to you before, it's all about time in the seat. Keep at it, the more wet riding, the better.
Loving the practice 👍
Sounds like your pinlock isnt adjusted correctly. Adjust the tabs at either side to make sure the seal is tight to your visor all along the seal.
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍 Will try this. Have a great day
Your personalities and transparency is great, no ego just honesty. You are doing really well , thanks for the journey content. I am experienced rider but can relate totally.

You are bang on about the hatchings. Try and avoid them cos they are full of mank. I’m enjoying watching you learning. It really takes me back to when I was learning to ride.
Don’t even ride or have any intentions to start riding (Mrs said it’d be the end, of what I’m not sure 😂) but this is really interesting to see your journey 👍🏻

Hi. Thanks for watching 👍 have a great day
you are spot on with the hatched area and overtaking. It’s very much legal, and my instructor whilst doing my DAS pointed out that it’s great as it gives a nice safe space to filter. Need to be much more careful using it in the rain though white lines can be very slippy.

If you want to learn slow speed skills look for "doodle on a motorcycle" she does a whole series on slow speed turns etc in a carpark with cones

@@bikerofatlantis you too
Can you not get it hitched up to the back of the Motorhome?
Already looked… yes yeah!
Hi mate, for your mod 1 slalom, the cones are in a straight line and about 4.5m apart I think. Still fairly simple if you keep it tight though
Just getting into biking myself at 40, have just done my mod 1 a few weeks back :) and have a mod 2 lesson soon.
Ride safe
How was your mod1, think I’ll do mine hopefully before Christmas
Stay safe
@@bikerofatlantis It went well, I had a lesson the week before with another lad and we spent 3 hours going over all the manoeuvres (left that still not feeling confident on a couple of them) and then had a brief run through them on the morning. I was really nervous but passed all good 👍🏻
This time of year keep away from leaves on the road..treacherous chief. Don’t know if yours has them but heated grips are a must in the winter, Oxford do som e very good after market ones. Also have the same problem with my lid, and it’s a ruddy Arai Tour4. Keep riding and keep practicing chief…big bikes have self cancelling indicators, the marvels of modern technology😳. Ps you two are so funny on your other channel too. 👍.
Hi. Thanks for watching both channels and supporting this 👍👍👍
Not all big bikes have self-cancelling indicators. Leaving them on is potentially lethal. Practise, discipline and muscle memory. Always put them on. Even if you think nobody else is around. And always, always switch the buggers off again.
Morning Andrew,
Loving the new threads 😊.
Diesel must be a bikers worst nightmare. Also metal grate covers both, especially in the wet.
I am always more mindful of bikers at junctions when the indicators are flashing just in case.
Love how the channel is growing 👏.
Take care and ride safe.

Hi guys xxx Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day

Oh my god your giving me the urge to get back into biking after 40 years. Only problem is I would probably kill myself now 😂
Do it. Ride safe
Go for it, but have training , you won’t regret it!
Moto Jitzu is great! I’d encourage you to look at Dan Dan The Fireman.
Will look, thank you
@@mar0364 yeah Dan the Fireman is good, very good defensive riding tips
dont thk it matters whether you have a 125 or a 1300, boots are the riders choicee Andy. 😉
👍👍👍
Agreed, however, grippy soles are pretty important for when you're stopped on slippery surfaces. Probably just something to think about for the heavier bikes though.
You got to learn by riding more every day in town and long journeys . This is the best school.
Agreed. Using it most days
@@bikerofatlantis
Your channel doing relay great. 👍
Can’t wait to see you progress and enjoy your biking experience.
One of the "joys" ......not...... is when it rains heavy.
.
The rain runs down your tank.
.
And pools in your groin....!
.
No matter what kit you have. Wet undies.....!😅
😂😂 no one wants wet under crackers
Just some of my Tippy-Tips :)
Try not to stop then put your foot down, instead just before stopping put your leg out and 'step to a stop'...it's less panicky :)
Diesel spills are deadly, you'll mostly find them inside fuel stations and at the road outside them, roundabouts and bus routes, the smell and rainbow colouring is a giveaway, just stay out of it.
I would say don't change down to 1st gear when coming to a stop, it can cause your back wheel to lock up, especially in the wet.
Have a system in place for turns, ie always think 'do I need to apply indicators prior to this turn? (there's no point if there's nobody around to indicate to that would benefit from your signal) and 'do I need to cancel indicators after the turn?'.
Hi. Loving your tips and guidance. Thank you 👍👍👍
when it gets winter cold ( 0 deg ) you're gonna get a whole new level of "fogging", where actual ice builds up on your visor ( early morning is the worst ) as you're riding, if you notice the "just eat" guys they have the visor fully up, or use no visor helmet, there is a product called visin, its a heated visor insert, next step up from a pinlock...need deep pockets though.
Hi. Thanks for watching. Will look into this 👍👍👍
Nothing wrong with good boots on a 125. Having been in a accident I always recommend good tall boots to ride. Back protectors are usually optional on Oxford jackets. I would highly recommend getting one. Personally I won't ride without a back protector.
I have a back protector, agree with you.
Thanks for watching
Another lesson learned with the diesel and wet keep an eye out on all types of drain covers manhole covers that sort of thing they can be very greasy and any painted lines tend to be slippy when wet..Claire was on form with the gags again I really liked the NASA one will you be back for tea🤣🤣👍🏻keep up the good work Andy and stay safe mate👍🏻
😂😂😂😂😂 one of Claire’s best jokes!
Great vlog great progress. Loving the outfit wait till Claire gets hers. Go and get your pin lock sorted. That’s my expert 😮advice btw 😅
Hi 👋
🤞
Re -turn signal - you will have a repeater on your speedo dial, I Quick Look down after manoeuvre is a good habit, even if you end up with self cancelling. On those u turns don’t forget head and eyes the bars will always go in the direction you look, recall how you steer a van. another thing getting down to first at a stop is the target but the last of the priorities - the most important is to stop as soon as you can and if possible prevent a stall. Ride safe 👍🏻
Hi. This is great thank you for this. Advice greatly appreciated 👍👍
Brilliant - really enjoying following the journey. Keep goin! Starting myself shortly - CBT next week. Watching has really helped.
Good luck next week 🏍️👍
Hello, I’m enjoying your journey. Great videos. In the rain I find that Pledge furniture polish, together with a Bob Heath type wiper for your glove, works a treat. Seriously 😂Enjoy the ride.
Good old pledge 😂😂👍
There are mainly three types of pinlock lenses, 30, 70, 120. pinlock 120 seals the best. The pins in the helmet visor are usually adjustable by turning them which can add more tension to create a better seal against the visor. I’ve done my DAS training and passed my tests last December. Very windy and rainy, but passed first time.

Loving the content, watching your channel should be compulsory for all new riders, really honest and insightful. Everyone who rides a bike will know that you never stop learning how to improve your riding skills, and you never get tired of motorbikes (I currently have 3, been biking 30+ yrs and still obsessed).
Hi. ❤️👍Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
Try one drop of Fairy liquid on the inside of your visor and wipe it across the area you have a problem. Pin locks don't always work 1000%
Hi. Will look at this Thankyou 👍👍
I've just got myself a Keeway Superlight as my first 125 after passing CBT and I'm finding your videos really helpful. Keep up the good work, mate 👍
Happy riding
Dont know who the numpty was who commented on alpine stars on a 125 see if you want to dress in full race leathers lookin like a power ranger so be it its your arse its saving keep up the good work and ive got 2 v maxes 1200 150 bhp aff there buts lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s great that you’ve got sorted with some great gear, also the hatching description you gave is bang on. Most car wash stuff is pretty good, but make sure everything is well dried off, and I would recommend using a product called Moto Protect, it helps prevent corrosion and gives a great finish for the whole bike and helps winterproof your bike. Stay safe buddy, loving the channel 🤘😎🤘
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day 👍👍👍👍
Morning mate. I wouldn't worry too much about the indicator thing, we all do it! I've been riding over 50 years and, ride a bike with 'self cancelling ' indicators. I've recently bought a Royal Enfield meteor 350 and, for the 1st couple of weeks forgot to cancel the flashers 😞. Now I press the cancel button as a matter of course 😊. You enjoy yourself and, watch out for that Diesel!
Wow fantastic bike
Happy biking 👍
We’re liking the new channel :D but I’m too gormless and accident prone for a bike…. But with the van getting 28 MPG I can see the appeal 🤣 it’s a French drain :P.
When will Claire get her own channel? Carparks of Atlantis? 🤭
How about “What’s for tea Atlantis!”
Ice has zero grip.
The bike is likely to be fitted with budget tyres and brake pads.
Tyres scrub in but it's a compromise with endurance or performance.
Pads take a while to bed in,probably at least 500 miles to get 100% of what they can offer.
Don't fit different size tyres than specified but I wouldn't fit budget.
Same with brake pads, there's a world of difference.
Keep the 125 for a year at least for just around and about.
Running costs go up,twice the engine is fairly much twice the cost, not in fuel so much but just generally.
Hi. This is great advice, Thankyou
Thanks for watching
Love it thanks guys. I've had my 125 just over a month now. I don't get out as much as I'd like and am definitely struggling sometimes on the slower manoeuvres. I'll bet the commute helps in building confidence and muscle memory. Will check out the app you mentioned. Ride safe.
Hi. Keep practicing when you can
Happy travels 👍
Muc-off do a jet wash kit designed for Motorbikes (gentle enough to use on the Motorhome), fantastic! You're doing amazing for a new rider. Well done Andy. Thanks for the shits and giggles.
Hi. I hope I don’t get shits and giggles on the bike 😂
Andy be careful in the wet,, learn to smell Diesel spills, Leaves also slippy,, also Grates are very dangerous !! Keep it up though you doing great 👍
Hi Pauline. Didn’t realise until I slipped!! Eeek
Wifey when you told her you buy e5 most expensive lol
Great this channel your a natural
And e5 defnatly gets you more mpg I have tested
Especially in a car
Hi. Thanks for watching 👍 Have a great day
Hi Andy
Good to know you’re still managing to keep upright, I like you got into biking in my 40’s and like you I was more interested in the craft of riding, how it all works so to speak, one of the things I did get was Motorcycle Roadcraft the Police riders handbook, I’am sure others have suggested this publication, it’s very incisive and definitely worth the cost. Stay safe 👍
Ooh this sounds interesting. Will take a look
Try washing up liquid on the inside of your visor. Rub it on, rub it off. It helps with the misting.
Being a Vi tory rider,I do t have a visor 😂😂
I will try this, thank you 👍
Broken lines in hatchings are fine to ride through. Practice your safe filtering Andrew as for me personally it’s pointless having a bike and then waiting behind cars in a line of traffic. I’m a bit of a brand whore and always have Alpinestars kit but I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous as someone saying they don’t belong on a 125, good grief. Keep practicing Andrew you’ll have no problem with the bigger bike 👍
Love it 👍👍
Hi Andrew , love your enthusiasm, you can get an audible warning for your indicators to warn you that their on , and your brakes don’t work so well in the rain as there’s water on the disc ,so until the pads clear the water they won’t grip so well , keep it up me and wife are subscribers to St Chris 👍diesel lethal , don’t get it on your boots either they will slip off you pegs 🤦♂️
Hi thanks for watching and supporting 👍👍❤️
Loving your videos as can so relate as a new rider myself. Agree with you about hatchings and to be fair you've been driving a car for all these years, so you know your road stuff anyway! on my rk125, I find 2nd gear to be best for slow manoeuvres, and drills.. Its just smoother and seems to put more power to the rear wheel for those tight turns. Keep up the great work, and stay safe.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day and safe travels on your 125
Morning fella. You’re spot on with the lines and overtakes. I live in Mansfield and work in derby and regularly filter down sir frank whittle way which is this all the way. And I do it past coppers. It’s perfectly legal as long as you do it considerately and it’s appropriate. Well done with the practice. Not a fan of motojitsu but practicing is great. Fuel on the road terrifies me. Look for rainbow patterns on the water and ride appropriately. A shower is worse than long spells of rain because it doesn’t wash the fuel away. Like the Oxford gear too, braces are the best. Shiny side up 😊
Hi. Thanks for this 👍👍
Andy, you and management (the wife) are making a great channel. Hats off to going out in all weather's it will be great for your confid3n e and awareness. As for broken lines and hash areas, you are correct. You can legally enter that area to overtake and go by slow traffic. The fact you stated you are aware of the rubbish and grit that gets thrown into that part of the road makes you safer to do it and ride with extra care when you do it. Hats off to another great video. 👏
Hi. Thanks for watching
From me and the management 😂😂😂
Looking good! Diesel on the ground can be incredibly slick, bad enough in a car, lethal for a bike. You'll get the visor issue right, just fiddle with it until you find what works for you.
It was very slippy!! I don’t typically notice in the car. Thanks for watching
I usually do an extra press of the indicator everytime i cancel just in case, as i was told by my instructor that leaving them on for too long was one of the top reasons people were failing their mod 2 as it can cause the exact thing that happened to you. Im loving this series though 🤙
Good to know this, Thankyou 👍👍
Here is the deal with riding in the rain. After you spend a couple month riding in the rain, you get real comfortable with it and wonder what the big deal was.
I use to live in a tropical climate and had to ride in the rain everyday. Now I live in a dry climate and I avoid riding in the rain because when it does rain, the road becomes very slick from all the road contamination.
Damn good looking bike! Non self cancellation on a modern bike is a mystery. The mind blowing tech we have and yet a self cancelling is a luxury on a bike.
Hi. Thanks for watching and the advice 👍 have a great day
A bikes a bike Andy no matter what expensive stuff you choose to wear ! The cc doesn’t decide what not to buy or buy 🤣🤣🤣 happy riding .
Hi 👋 thanks
At least one other comment mentions keeping your handlebars straight when you come to a stop. I noticed during your stop exercises that when the bike stopped it was tipping over a bit and the timing of your foot coming off the footrest was a bit late, end result the stop looked a bit clumsy. From the other camera angle it was obvious that you were turning the bars slightly to one side as the bike stopped, tipping it to one side.
There’s a lot to think about riding a bike but when you master it most of it will become second nature 🇬🇧
Hi. Thanks for this. All this is useful to me
You're perfectly fine passing on the hatchings with broken lines, but keep to your side of them - all the road crud ends up in the centre of them, and that's not fun to ride on - remember, you're a bike and you only need a skinny portion of road to ride on - some good practice tips for filtering in narrow areas is to find a car park that has decent length painted lines (not the parking space lines, as they're only as long as the bike lol) and attempt to ride on the lines only, as if you're on a balancing beam, you can even incorporate crawling on the lines to help with slow moving manoeuvres.
Hi. I like this advice, thank you 👍
At the tender age of 53 I did my CBT last October and rode through the winter - you’re definitely going about this the right way. I got into some bad habits so recommend an hour on the road with an instructor occasionally.
Pin lock wise, I’ve not had this problem but it sounds like it’s not sealing properly. I used an alcohol wipe prior to fitting.
Hi. We are in our prime!
Thanks for watching. Loving the biking
Have a great day
I wouldn't worry about e5 either, did a 2600 mile tour on e10. 😅 my bike gets about 40 to the gallon, i'd avoid that petrol station in future, most are fine. Diesel will have you off, nasty on the road
👍👍👍
When you’ve got beads of water on your visor making it look ‘glittery’ turn your head 90 degrees and the water will just sheet off. Helps if you’re doing a decent speed as well 😊
Thanks 👍👍
Very good, love the interaction between you both and watching you on your journey into motorcycling. I've just gone back to it at 60 years old after a long absence (15 years or more!) so on my own learning curve again at the moment and taking it easy.
Sounds fab! Happy riding
Hi Andy, word of warning on filtering on broken line shevron,i did this and turned right without looking or indicating,we over her bonnet and damaged bike, police turned up and was not intrested she didnt look/indicate,said they would do me for dangerous driving if i went through insurance so had to pay for damage myself - dont do it!!
Hi. Thanks for this advice, it is appreciated 👍👍👍
Check your rain x, the one you had was for glass not plastic, it's not recommended for visors, you get a special plastic rain x for visors. Also try an anti fog for your visor,
Ooh good shout 👍
