Thank you so much. One of the reasons I bought the car was that I thought the seats would come out, but when I tried it I thought I'd made a mistake. Now I know they're will, I can throw a mattress in the back and go exploring :)
I have same idea. Can you tell me, how much room is in the car after seats beeing removed? I consider this car or skoda roomster.I search cheep, spacious and reliable(i hope so :)car.
Thank you for posting this video. I have just bought a 2011 C-Max instead of a van. I'm an ageing plasterer with 6 years left before I can retire. I can easily get a 1.8 plasterboard in the back with room to spare. I just need a roof rack, bars and a tube and I'm sorted. Thanks again, your video made my decision easy.
Great I'm glad you found it useful. I could not find any seat removal videos when I got my C-Max and it was most frustrating. They are still heavy enough but I clamber into the back ok. I remove them twice a month of average. It is getting easier lol.

I am thinking to buy 2nd hand C max - and wondered if a full removal was possible -so I do camping van sleeping and take all my gear. Also thank you that you demonstrated in effective manner good quality image - and emphasized Safety before we remove the seats. well done , Many thanks, Greetings from Portugal
Hi and thanks. You can remove the rear seats easily but the front ones are bolted in as per usual. With the rear seats out you have a lot of room. I could just about sleep diagonally and I'm 6ft.
Excellent Video. Needed to get our seats out but was having a problem with the red clips. Watched your explanation and hey presto! they came out is seconds. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the feedback and glad it was of use. I couldn't find anything when I was trying, so I thought I'd do the video for people. Just that 45 degrees and hey presto they lift out fairly easily.
Thank (from the Netherlands!) just borrowed one of these to move an old steel desk that won't fit into the boot of a saloon ;-) You video spared me a lot of headache and potentially a sore back ;-) Keep up the good work!
Not long bought C-Max 2014 plate ,loaded her up and bang down went seats oooops.I'm happy I found your video ,now i can can use hook to stop seats crashing down . Also i got in car then removed the seats ,got myself a massive van or three four and five seater car . I took out middle seat because kids fighting as they do ,since removing central seat they stopped trying to bash each other . Boy and girl nightmare for us hahaha .
Same as a Mk 1 Renault Scenic; those seat are very heavy too. Useful video, thanks, as if rear seats remove you then have a spacious van type arrangement. Handy to know the C-max's seats can be removed.
Spot on mate, I've just bought one of these for work, and I had no idea about that bungee lol, I've been pulling my brains outs trying to figure out how to secure them when folded forward , I just hadn't noticed it at all!!!!!
Thanks for the reply. People hardly ever seem to pass on the instruction booklets, so without that it is not that intuitive. It took me tons of searching to get the answers, hence I thought I'd make this video. We're not the only ones - it has quite a few views lol.
I have the C Max. The first time I tried to get the seats out. It was on a very hot day and what a struggle it was. Had I seen this video then it would have saved me a few gallons of sweat! Any one trying this. Listen to the warning, They are heavy! But what a great idea to be able to take the seats out. I took an old chest of draws to someones house and was only able because of this feature. I watched someone out side of Argos with a fridge on a sack barrow scratching his head because it wouldn't go in the boot of his big flashy car. I could have got at least two in mine!
Thanks for your comment Paul. I made this video because every video I saw seemed to skip this bit - I presume because they found it tricky. I take these seats out at least twice a month now. Getting the hang of it, and it's easy when you know how. As you say, just be careful of your back/twisting etc. They are heavy.
Hi Laurie, we have a PT Cruiser and it has exactly the same - and I mean exactly the same kind of seats even down to the strap to hold the seats in the upright position. Like you I struggled for ages trying to manoeuvre them and get them out of the car for the first couple of times. I then read the manual. From the side door, fold the seat up and disengage it, go in through the hatch at the rear, drag the complete seat out through the rear as it has tiny wheels in the bottom of the seat which I din't know about - it was so easy after that and not uncomfortable or awkward at all. The only thing I would say is that on the Cruiser the rear seat is divided into two rather than three and the larger of the seats is really heavy so is best to have two people to lift it out if possible rather than the one although I can just about do it by myself. ..........Graham
+Graham Foulston Yes this isn't too difficult but I gave safety warnings just in case. I don't want some idiot trying to blame me. Same reason I give safety advice when using modelling knives and sprays. It was funny Graham that I couldn't find any tutorial videos on YT. They all stopped short of the actual removal saying it was tricky. I read the 45 degree angle bit online, and then it makes it much easier. I guess you also prove (with me) the moral of the story is to read the instructions lol. Laurie.
Thank you, that vas very helpful. Straight to the point and clear instructions. Even though I will probably just hook the seats and leave them in a car :-)
I wondered how to remove these for years! Nice vid. Also no idea about the bungee I've had them slam down on me loads of times on the way back from the tip!
Ah, well I believe the bungee clips onto a headrest support. First you have to raise the headrests slightly, and then you can clip them on underneath the headrest on the metal support strut. That should stop the seat falling down. I forget how I found that out now lol.
2012 C-max had same kind of mechanism. Thank you for the helpful video! My only issue with the removal was to tilt the seat slightly back before i could turn the red levers down. :)
Cheers mate - have been wondering for a while how the seats come out and never was able to figure it out till I clocked your video! Will utilise the skills for a bit of awkwardly sized exercise bike transport soon!
@@camdentown69 Oh sorry to hear that. I don't know anything about that particular model. Yes the 45 degrees is critical or they will hardly move. Once you get to the 45 degrees they move a lot and the seat will easily lift out. Once out have a look at the mechanism and it will make sense. It's a safety thing that they only release at that particular angle. Looking for a 'normal' car to use occasionally as a campervan with a foam mattress in the boot. Don't suppose you know how long the source is on the boot? Could you lie down in it comfortably? Thanks.
You can easily remove all three rear seats. You could put something in there to sleep on but I am 6ft tall and I would only fit diagonally with the front passenger seat pushed fully forward too - could be done. S-Max might give you more room or a Galaxy.
Thank you.. With the seats out and the passenger seat moved forward and folded to the front as far as it will go.
