    Safety warning: Be careful. Ask for help if you need to. These are heavy, and you may have to lean in, or get into a strange position. I accept no responsibility for injury caused. You decide. They are quite heavy considering the position you putting your body in. Go carefully please.

    Thank you for posting this video. I have just bought a 2011 C-Max instead of a van. I'm an ageing plasterer with 6 years left before I can retire. I can easily get a 1.8 plasterboard in the back with room to spare. I just need a roof rack, bars and a tube and I'm sorted. Thanks again, your video made my decision easy.

      Great I'm glad you found it useful. I could not find any seat removal videos when I got my C-Max and it was most frustrating. They are still heavy enough but I clamber into the back ok. I remove them twice a month of average. It is getting easier lol.

    I have the C Max. The first time I tried to get the seats out. It was on a very hot day and what a struggle it was. Had I seen this video then it would have saved me a few gallons of sweat! Any one trying this. Listen to the warning, They are heavy! But what a great idea to be able to take the seats out. I took an old chest of draws to someones house and was only able because of this feature. I watched someone out side of Argos with a fridge on a sack barrow scratching his head because it wouldn't go in the boot of his big flashy car. I could have got at least two in mine!

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  8 лет назад

      Thanks for your comment Paul. I made this video because every video I saw seemed to skip this bit - I presume because they found it tricky. I take these seats out at least twice a month now. Getting the hang of it, and it's easy when you know how. As you say, just be careful of your back/twisting etc. They are heavy.

  • @GrahamFoulston
    @GrahamFoulston 8 лет назад

    Hi Laurie, we have a PT Cruiser and it has exactly the same - and I mean exactly the same kind of seats even down to the strap to hold the seats in the upright position. Like you I struggled for ages trying to manoeuvre them and get them out of the car for the first couple of times. I then read the manual. From the side door, fold the seat up and disengage it, go in through the hatch at the rear, drag the complete seat out through the rear as it has tiny wheels in the bottom of the seat which I din't know about - it was so easy after that and not uncomfortable or awkward at all. The only thing I would say is that on the Cruiser the rear seat is divided into two rather than three and the larger of the seats is really heavy so is best to have two people to lift it out if possible rather than the one although I can just about do it by myself. ..........Graham

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  8 лет назад +1

      +Graham Foulston Yes this isn't too difficult but I gave safety warnings just in case. I don't want some idiot trying to blame me. Same reason I give safety advice when using modelling knives and sprays.
      It was funny Graham that I couldn't find any tutorial videos on YT. They all stopped short of the actual removal saying it was tricky. I read the 45 degree angle bit online, and then it makes it much easier. I guess you also prove (with me) the moral of the story is to read the instructions lol. Laurie.

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  7 лет назад

      Ah, well I believe the bungee clips onto a headrest support. First you have to raise the headrests slightly, and then you can clip them on underneath the headrest on the metal support strut. That should stop the seat falling down. I forget how I found that out now lol.

    QUESTION - .....I am looking at MPV's as a cheaper alternative to buying a van. Reason being is, I'm in a band who travel across the country playing multiple festivals. My question being, if I removed all the back seats would there be room for a small double mattress, say a futon sized one where a max of 2 people could sleep? Pushing the 2 front seats as far as they will go forward too.....I really like the look of the C-max's out of all of the MPV's I have viewed online.
    Hope to hear from you soon

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  7 лет назад

      Depends how tall you are. I'm 5ft 11in and I would have to sleep diagonally. So for two people it would be difficult unless you were both about 5 1/2 ft.
      S-Max might be better.

    Hi, I've been looking at a 2007 C Max but couldn't get the red levers to remove the seats to even budge. I tried this when the seats were bolt upright, do the red levers only move at 45 degrees? It's the only thing keeping me from buying this car

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  7 лет назад

      Yes the 45 degrees is critical or they will hardly move. Once you get to the 45 degrees they move a lot and the seat will easily lift out. Once out have a look at the mechanism and it will make sense. It's a safety thing that they only release at that particular angle. Watch the seats as they are heavy if you are twisting to get them out. Hope that helps.
      I love my C-Max - one of the best cars I've ever had.

    Hiya, looking at buying a cmax too. Does this mean that all the seats are removable therefore leaving a flat bed in the boot? Looking for a 'normal' car to use occasionally as a campervan with a foam mattress in the boot. Don't suppose you know how long the source is on the boot? Could you lie down in it comfortably? Thanks.

      You can easily remove all three rear seats. You could put something in there to sleep on but I am 6ft tall and I would only fit diagonally with the front passenger seat pushed fully forward too - could be done. S-Max might give you more room or a Galaxy.

    What about the one in the middle? Same thing?

    Thank you.. With the seats out and the passenger seat moved forward and folded to the front as far as it will go. Do you know what the measurement is from the back door closed to the back of the front seat. It's so difficult to get boot measurements - car reviewer's, "professional", are a waste of space.. Cheers

      In my 2007 car I manage to get a 6ftx2ftx2ft box into the car as you describe but it is angled upward slightly in order to fit behind the passenger seat. Really a few inches less say 5ft9in would be better. Hope that helps.

      @@Calvertfilm Cheer's.. It's so difficult to get simple measurements of load areas.. I'll go view one now as I'm thinking of buying.. Thanks again..

      @@richard8241 No worries. That's why we put videos up to share knowledge. There wasn't such a video when I needed one. I love the C-Max. Been with it for 60,000 miles now.

    I really needed to put a fridge in my C max. Didn't know that I had to hold the seats at a 45 degree angle

      I don't know for sure but I would have thought it might be. Perhaps someone else will read your comment and respond for you.
