Nice job! I love that you are jumping in and trying something that you don't know a ton about. As a, um, much older person :) who has made her own clothes since I was a teen, I love watching you figure things out. We learn by doing. I wanted to jump into the screen and show you little tricks...then I remembered I learned them by trial and error--and you will too.
I love your ingenuity, you just make it work. Don’t lose that .
Thank you! 💖
Pre-loved duvet covers are a brilliant way to source large amounts of fabric at a good price, and that one you found was really pretty! You did a great job of that dress, the sleeves are epic! Well done 👏
I totally agree! and thank you, they took a hot minute to get together but they turned out so cute 💖
Put safety pins on your list. You will be doing a lot of elastic and turning belts, ties, etc inside out. They also make a turning tool much like your bottle washer made specifically for inserting elastic. You’re doing great!
I have! I got a whole pack now. Thank you! 💖
Learning to sew can only be done by gaining experience by sewing. We very quickly learn what works and doesn’t work, the quirks of following patterns, and lots of problem solving. When you revisit your patterns with different fabrics, and different hacks, you will find them so much easier, and your skill increases. Dress patterns can become tops, tops can become dresses, you can do sleeve variations, skirt variations… Mark the changes you made on your dress, onto your pattern pieces for next time - saves time and fabric.
You are so right, every time I pull out that machine I learn 15 new things. Its so fun!
This is so true. 💯!!!
I'm on the start of my sewing journey too so I just had to subscribe....especially when I saw you have cats lol!!
Subscribed! This is the first video of yours that I've seen. The dress turned out so cute! I can't wait to go thrift some bedsheets lol
Thank you! and welcome 💖
Hey! I love your channel, just a tip, use a safety pin to push the elastic through, works better :3 Just attach it to the elastic and push. Your dress is so pretty, good work!
thank you! I couldn't find on in the house and had to improvise! 💖
@@heyhimadsI've been there! I pinned a giant one to my ironing board so I never lose it!
Oh well I love your videos and the cats are epic!
Thank you! They are pretty great! 💖🌟
I plan to thrift flip an old saree of my mother. Your video just floods my mind with so many ideas! Thankyou for the inspiration!
oh that would be beautiful! I would make a mock up with a cheap bedsheet before you cut into such a special piece of fabric. That way you know exactly what you want! 💖 happy sewing!
Oh right! A mock up is definitely on my to do list first thing tomorrow. Thankyou for the suggestion!@@heyhimads
this is great! Love your passion.
Thank you!
Subbed before you hit 1k!! Love your channel :) keep up the good work!

This is the first video of yours that I found, and let me tell you, I was SHOCKED that you don’t already have hundreds of thousands of followers! Your personality, your cats, your beautiful craftsmanship, I instantly subscribed! I’m looking forward to watching your channel grow 🥰

I love how the dress turned out! that print is gorgeous and the colors look so lovely with your skin tone!
Thank you! 🌟
It came out really well. I have to watch this again when I arrive home. It's hard to give it my full attention at work. 😊 Love that you used the library for your final reveal.
Thank you! Im so proud of this one.
@@heyhimads You're welcome.
I'm a sheet hoarder! I love thrifting them.
Great job on the dress!❤
I m becoming one too! and thank you 💖
Omg me too😅😅
I am just so impressed with your persistent attitude!! Your dress is gorgeous!! Congratulations! Keep making it will get easier! 😊
thank you! 💖
Hi, I suggest buying a seam gauge to attach to your sewing machine bed to help you be more accurate with your seams. Also place the sewing machine closer to you and parallel to the table edge so you are not so far away feom it and can be loser to your sewingb, it will be easier to pay attention to your seaming.
Awww I love this!!! I’m a beginner at sewing too so I love to see someone go through the irl steps! You keep it real and that’s so encouraging! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next! Sending all the good vibes your way! ✨
that is sooooo sweet! thank you 💖 its a learning process FOR SURE! Keep at it, I believe in you 🌟
It turned out so pretty!
Thank you so much! 🌟
I made pattern weights from rocks, scrap fabric and mod podge. Maybe you might like to make some. You’re doing great! Happy to join you on you journey.
Great Idea!
Such a pretty dress! Your learning is paying off. I liked your straw cleaner hack. If you double pin the end of the elastic at the beginning, you won't lose it in the middle.
The fix for the two bust pieces was creative. I'm not sure how you lost the gathers there. Another way would be just sew in a short line of basting to regather, either by hand or with the machine and then sew the joining point of the chest pieces again along the seam. You were still only working with the two layers so it wouldn't show as a repair.
Thank you!
and thank you for the insights, this learning process has been so fun and all the different solutions are welcome! 💖
@@heyhimads My pleasure. 💛
I love the end result!
Thank you!
Subscribed for your sewing ❤🪡
That is such a cute fabric and you made such a cute and comfortable looking dress! I can see that dress being so comfortable to wear while pregnant 😂 that air flow is probably super comfy in the summer, too.
Totally! Thank you 💖
Turned out very nice. Good work. Luv that u used recycled bed sheet.
Thank you! 💖
Just found you and am here to support!! :)
ahhh! thank you 💖
Your dress turned out cuter than the pattern picture. Good job!
Thank you! I love making small changes to help the final piece suit me! 🌟
Very pretty 😀
Thank you! 💖
Cool dress!
Thank you!💖
youre definitely goonna reach your 500 goal. aim for 1k! good luck
🤞 I think you might be right!
Very very nice, you did good.
Thank you! I am proud of it! 💖
Instead of taking it in you could have added an elastic at the waist along the seam, this would gather it where you want while keeping the gathered skirt effect. Also, for adding an elastic to the sleeve first join the 2 ends of the elastic, then sew it to the edge of the of the sleeve. After that, roll the sleeve edge to encase the elastic in there, you would need to pull on it as you sew so that it's straight with the fabric. Idk if that makes sense but there are youtube tutorials on this and its FAR easier than pulling and elastic through with bobby pins etc, especially if the elastic is long.
omg thank you! that makes so much sense! ill be sure to try it 💖
Cute dress! I also sew from thrifted sheets, tablecloths, shower curtains, tapestries and sometimes I thrift actual fabric. I recently found a huge bolt of dusty rose lace YEHAW! I'm currently working on a doily dress with light lavender fabric backing. I've been collecting doily bits and stashed them in several places. I'm sure I have enough for a dress (or 2) and some separates. Loved the video and subscribed.
thank you! DUSTY ROSE LACE! that a score. 💖
damn 511 subs? crafting world is missing out on you! subscribed. only kind suggestion is to see the inspo pic a bit earlier on so i know what you're trying to create when i click into the video would really improve my viewing experience. but loved the vid and excited to see more!
haha thank you for your kind words 💖 Ill defiantly take that into consideration for future vids!
Subscribed. Im a sewer and have been thinking about starting a channel but I'm a little nervous. Still learning so much myself. Been sewing everyday for the 5 years
DO it! If you feel good about sharing online I say go for it. Im still just using an old Iphone! 💖 I made a whole video about the first 6 mnths, and there are tons of others. Watch those and see if it feels like something you would want to do ☀
If I make it, Id add huge pockets in the side seams!
Oooo great Idea! 💖
Adopt the phrase ‘what’s the worst that can happen’ lol
I like it! 💖
you are ADORABLE!!
Thank you! 🌟

Thank you, super cute dress!!
No problem at all! 💖 and thank you!
Hallo :)
Fist of all I love your Video.
But I have to know what is the meaning of your Tattoos?
You seem super lovely but one of them looks like an 88 which does have a not at all nice meaning
Hello!
Thank you! and yes, I have a bunch of tattoos! The 88 is in honour of one of my close friends who was born in 1988. I also have a wine glass on that same wrist for another friend 💖
@user-cc8zk5no5d Hey, me again. I just wanted to say thank you for brining this up to me.
I was ignorant to the meaning of the 88, I should have at least done a basic google search before getting the tattoo. I want to let you know that within the hour of me seeing your comment, and me now writing this to you I have been to a tattoo shop to add another 8 to make the tattoo 888 angel numbers, my friend (who the tattoo honours) is a Capricorn, and 888 is also said to be ruled by Saturn. So I am able to honour her still, and not contribute to terrible racist dogwhistles.
Thank you again for saying something.
cute but needs a belt
How brave to do a dress with all those gathers! I hate sewing gathers and avoid them at all costs.
haha thank you! It was a task but I feel so much more confident now! 💖
