Here is why live rounds were on the set of rust and many other movies.
You can tell when someone who has never fired a real gun before is firing a fake one. Mostly in how they pantomime the recoil (because blanks have almost no recoil)
But also it's difficult to not have them flinch if they aren't used to it.
For clarity let's separate the bullets into 3 categories. Dummy, blank, and live. A dummy round is a bullet without primer or powder, it's for close up shots because it looks like a regular bullet but is not dangerous.
A blank round is used when you need the gun to operate normally but not fire a projectile. This is still a dangerous thing as it was a blank that killed Brandon Lee because something had gotten into the barrel that was launched out when the blank was fired.
The thing is. Her not keeping the bullets properly quarantined is criminal negligence not manslaughter.
This woman is being basically sacrificed to save Alec Baldwin, who absolutely (by the design of the specific gun he was using) pulled the trigger or it wouldn't have went off.
If he had bothered to listen to his armorer when she told him to train more, he would have known that you can "fan" the hammer and if you are holding the trigger pulled it will fire.
If he wasn't pulling the trigger the gun would have only let the hammer travel to the closest click stop, there are 4 in that gun. In a western they sometimes show this where a person is pulling back the hammer slowly and it clicks multiple times
Also a possibility, Alec didn't like her and slid a live round in there...since he was the one holding the gun last and should know how to check the gun for live rounds.
I remember Alec being interviewed and he said he "didn't pull the trigger". As if guns just randomly discharge for no reason. He's a scumbag and a liar, I can't say he intended to kill that poor woman but he is most responsible and should get some hefty jail time for this.
Yes Alec is 100 percent at fault in my opinion and by law should be. I've been around firearms my whole life and I always check a gun myself to show clear even if the person that handed it to me checked it. It's gun safety 101. When a gun is in your hands you are responsible for anything happening. It's bs Alec will likley skate with a slap on the wrist and maybe probation. F him.
