I just bought one of these. A 2013 T5 non awd version. In the same day I test drove an Audi a4, a BMW 3 series, ford fusion sport, and Subaru legacy gt. The Audi had a CEL come on during test drive. Less than 60k on the odometer. The BMW felt great, but I'll always worry about oil consumption. The ford fusion sport is hardly even worth mentioning alongside these. And the legacy gt was fun but that turbo lag... Got into the Volvo and could feel the difference in seat quality. Its remarkable. The steering is so sharp the car feels like its handling on a dime. I took an empty roundabout at WOT with the over boost kicking and she didn't even squeal the tires. I'm completely smitten. Then you find out Volvo set a goal to have no deaths in brand new volvos by 2020, and achieved that goal and you know you're in something safe, well engineered, and fun. Really all around good value.
I had a Volvo and it DID SAVE MY LIFE!!!. All of my Volvos were supremely comfortable. Much more than my Mercedes and much better on a long trip than the Mercedes.
The overboost allows higher boost pressure from the turbo for about 10 seconds with a resting period that is determined by engine temperature and a few other factors. It takes about a minute before it comes back on. BT streaming and phone integration is there and it is very good. The Volvo's advantage is its price, the BMW 3-series is still the more dynamic vehicle and I prefer iDrive to Volvo's Sensus.
We are trying to get a 2013 S80 tester but Volvo does not have them in their press fleet on the west coast at this time. I will pass this request along to them and hopefully one will show up soon.
@@TigixPK if you are still looking. I have put 80 thousand miles on my s60 and have never had a problem. of course I take good care of it with often oil changes and use premium gas.
Jullian Victor Hey I don’t still have it but it still has been one of my favorite cars to date. Especially the way it drove, it was really fun to drive. I sold because I was needing something bigger but will probably go back to a volvo in the near future. I’m not sure about the new ones but my car held up really well and the maintenance was all basic and mostly covered during the time I had it.
It is a petty that he "forgets" to mention that the car comes with 5 years of maintenance, wear and tear, warranty and road side assistance included in the price. None of the competitors has that.
Put your seat bottom back and your seatback more upright so you can reach the wheel, it won't bang your knee on the center. Guys with a few extra pounds may tend to lean the seat back and wind up moving the seat track too far forward to be able to reach the wheel.
Lucky you Alex...enjoying a totally sweet V70R. Man I wanted one a few years ago but due to budget constraints had to settle for a C30. Now I'm in the market for a sedan and might be getting a 2014 S60 T5 Kpax, should be a nice blend between sporty and comfortable/practical. I NEED THAT INLINE 5 TURBO!
Interesting, and I agree a very nice-looking package. I would have looked seriously at this or other Volvos if they had a diesel or much more efficient gas engine. Went with the Golf TDI. CitySafety feature would be great for us rural drivers, if adapted for twilight and wildlife too.
very through reviews. theyre like extended, informed test drives. one day if you could review of the X1 it would be great because other one's ive found on youtube have been lacking, im considering that car with the 3.0 turbo because you can actually get one with that engine for less than 40k
Great, thanks Alex on Autos! Is the tech package worth it for a lease, you think? I am looking at the Accord ex-l, fusion, Mazda 6 grand touring, and the s60. The s60 has a good sign and drive deal now, but still a little pricy with the tech package. Have any recommendations?
Zev Mo Green I really hope you bought the s60, so much better quality and reliability. In Sweden, almost every Volvo got over 180 thousand miles on them, ive seen many go over 300k without any problems
very through review. thanks. I test drive one of these but went with an a4. If they put awd in the t5 back then I would've given it a more serious look but still probably would have gotten the Audi because of the interior and because I prefer German cars
basketball798 I don't recall a Toyota being comparable to this Volvo S60. I believe he was saying Audi,BMW,and Mercedes. You'll grow older one day, young grasshopper. But don't worry, the safety of the Volvo S60 will save the passengers from Honda and Toyota driver's.
This guy is one of the best reviewers, he talks so much sense! Not like the other guys which talks about stuff they dont know anything about!

Thank you! Finally a very detailed and useful review. I've been googling the web and couldn't find one nearly as good as yours - thanks again!

A real review with a lot of knowledge, very informative, you are the best car reviewer
One of the best reviews I've seen, thanks for putting so much time and effort into it. The trunk 'dive' really helped demonstrate volume.
Cheers
This is such a beautiful car.
Owned by a Chinese firm, but not made in China. Still in Sweden.
Probably far better than when owned by Ford
I am a fan Alex and great review, thanks to you.... I traded my VW Golf for 2013 S60 T5 AWD, love everything about it.
Thank you so much for the review, one of the best iv seen!! I just bought this car and have fell in love!!
stylist1285 I'm looking at the same car, how has the maintenance been? I have always bought Japanese.

Just wondering, do you still have this car, 5yrs on?

Luke USCG do you think the 2014 s60 t5 is a good choice in terms of reliability? I’m nervous because I’ve always had Honda’s
BMW provides included scheduled maintainance as well, and Audi flirts with it from time to time.
i have the 2013 d3, amazing car. not as fuel efficient as bmw 320d, but quieter in the cabin, stronger low end torque. and safe place to be,
Excellent review Alex!
How pricey is this to fix? I want to buy one to have for a couple years, maybe put close to 200,000 miles

Hi, good video reviews, I was wondering if you can review the 2013 Volvo S80 and C70 please. Also great review of the S60, very informative.

Awesome Review !! :) Volvo For Life !!
I just bought a 2013 s60 t5 and I'm getting 42-45 mpg highway at 75-80mph
Thanks man, great review!

Do you recommend the FWD w/ more options, or an AWD version?
I am quite partial to AWD in general, but if it were a choice between the nav system and the premium sound and AWD I would take the maps and tunes.
Great, thanks Alex on Autos!

Excellent review.
Very good review
why camera focus to his face! i want to see interior car.....
Are you sure this is not the t6? In our market the t5 is the 2.0. Not the 2.5?
They both exist
Frankly I think A4 cabin is less quality in materials and style than the S60--and for me the seating in the A4 isn't as adjustable to my liking.
....in addition to the s60 T5 awd and audi a4 2.0t
Fully loaded is about 33k
you probably thought it was a 2007 honda civic :)
love this car i would like to buy one but volvo has not in programm for italy!!!!
I tremble to imagine what you consider a good car, nothing personal
The 2012 s60 t5 is no good. Bad rings. Period
made in china
Eww just get 2013 camry se v6. Its faster AND looks good.

that car is bull shit
