    This piece has a sort of sad yet nostalgic feeling to it. It feels like it's a sort of "the calm after the storm" kind of music, like something terrible happened and someone is only just now getting the full view of the destruction "the storm" caused. Overall I feel that it's a great piece; arguably one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Bravo, Eric Whitacre. Bravo.

    There are not many moments in the world that can have such an impact as to make feel like everything has come to a stop. This was absolutely breathtaking and you can feel the natural connection not just from those singing, but also from ourselves as we engage by listening. I sincerely hope this style of music survives throughout all of time, because it's far too beautiful not to!

    • @Liko81DJ
      @Liko81DJ 8 лет назад

      +Harrison Vital It is a good one. I think Whitacre has one better, in "When David Heard". The transition from the first "my son" ostinato into "Absolom" is heart-rending.

    • @hhvital
      @hhvital 8 лет назад

      +Liko81DJ You're right, but also in his song "Hope, Faith, Life, Love" the chord that builds up from the sopranos to the basses on the word Truth is absolutely phenomenal, I performed it for my school chorale and it was, there are no words as to how it was live, it just WAS, thats how it made me feel, and the resolve in that song is outstanding as well, I agree totally

    I first heard this piece when going through a horrific time in my life in 2007. What struck me is the how, under the correct circumstances, dissonance can sound almost erotically beautiful. I actually have the text from this song tattooed on my left forearm. That's how much I adore this piece.
