How could you even say such a thing? Have you ever seen an angel before? How the heck can you possibly know what they look like, and how do you even know they exist?
Interesting variation/addition from 03:18 till 04:18. Have not heard that elsewhere. Makes it longer, which is a good thing as I wish it was a longer track.
It's the Theme of 'Bliss' from his musical "Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings". He wrote it for the musical in 2001 or 2002 then wrote it into the Wind Orchestra version of Lux Aurumque in 2005, then worked it into his new edition of the choral version only very recently (last year?). The original theme of Bliss: /watch?v=UWW78erAGHk Wind Orchestra version of Lux (2005 premier): /watch?v=0OeJykoENlc
I first fell in love with choirs in the video game Halo, when I heard Eric Whitacre Lux Aurumque it reminded me of that first moment. This version is my favorite right now :).
I love this version so much, it's the one I performed in high school. Beautiful sound, but as someone with perfect pitch, it hurt my heart to hear their tonality slide down half a step over the course of the performance. Still an absolutely gorgeous arrangement well executed!
The Watermelon At some point, you’re gonna realize how minute it is to complain about dropping pitch in an a cappella performance. Happens all the time in barbershop performances. As a guy with perfect pitch also, if the singing quality itself doesn’t suffer, who cares?
Edwin Cortez-Nunez it's actually not...maybe that little part was, but this is definitely "Lux Aurumque." I sang B2 for it my high school senior year, so...
"Seek thee the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near." Isaiah 55:6 KJV This ship is sinking, you are not promised tomorrow jump on the life boat of Jesus Christ while you still can.
Incredible music, titanic. This is a miracle of human thought. Surpasses Mozart's Requiem. Today I first heard her by chance at a concert in Moscow and found it here.
WHy would he present it as Lux Aurumque? I didn't understand that.. And yes, I always felt that version was underwhelming in the middle section, it's fairly better like this
Inserted part doesn't sound as same leveled music as the rest of composition originally scored. Harmonies in added part of primary composition are a bit too sweet and kitchy in my opinion and first, original version did not need any aesthetical decline in favour of wider audience or "better" reception.
Eric Whitacre literally looks like an earthbound Angel.
his voice however is not so angelica
?
Adrian Ornelas he looks more like Prince charming from the Shrek movies
How could you even say such a thing? Have you ever seen an angel before? How the heck can you possibly know what they look like, and how do you even know they exist?
Heaven must sound like this!!
Yes, and you're already in it like it or not :)
Yes. exactly!
Celestial. Heartbreakingly beautiful....
He’s blessed with his talent of creating such beautiful compositions, but he’s also blessed to work with a talented group of musicians. 😍
Mere applause after that feels almost obscene. Amazing piece of music.
I glad I've lived to discover this man's music.
5:12-feels like "it's OK, you've done so you can.... Come home"
Love of God ❤life of love ❤
Maestro ... with a Choir of Maestros
This was the ballad for my rookie drum corps show, and it always makes me cry :'( It's an incredibly beautiful piece
what corps did you march?
Carolina Gold. Its a DCA group
airborne592 thank you😊
No problem
Absolutely stunning vocals! Got the 'chills'!
despite the pitch falling...it's a spectacular performance!!!!
This is legendaryyy, 10/10, played in highschool
Beautiful, very healing, sound of heaven, joy, love, peace, perfection.
"We'd like to begin with a very simple piece.." Um, Eric.. It's anything but? It is extraordinary.
Great sounds
Bellísimo! ❤❤❤
Interesting variation/addition from 03:18 till 04:18. Have not heard that elsewhere. Makes it longer, which is a good thing as I wish it was a longer track.
It sounds like his 4th virtual choir song
This is actually Lux Nova if I'm correct

Its from the concert band arrangement.
Gave me goose bumps of how beautiful
The transition from simple 3:52 to cluster 3:53 made my hairs stand up.
I first fell in love with choirs in the video game Halo, when I heard Eric Whitacre Lux Aurumque it reminded me of that first moment. This version is my favorite right now :).
4:03 - 4:13 reminds me of Sleeps’ “give second sight” :)
Beautiful!!
The tone at 4:38 is exquisite
Love this song!! We did this and a few other Eric Whitacre songs in high school.
Perfection!!!
🙏❤️🇵🇱

The Watermelon same
ok

@@joshywashy3453 That sort of thing bothered me a lot more in college when my ears weren't wrecked by teaching middle school music. Lol
This is well known to happen. Any good composer can write around it, this guy is kind of mediocre.
First Soprano solo (1:55) is the second soprano from the end of the line before the camera moves out of her range. :)
Nice job!
She does a beautiful job, and I like the vibrato at the end of the high note.
I'll know in two days if our director selects a Whitacre piece for our spring concert.
Enamorada de éste hombre! una presencia y pasión inigualable! Bravo!

03:17 Amazing!
3:54 perfect!
What's the name of that chord

Tuve el honor de cantar esta obra con la dirección del maestro Martín Armando, en el inolvidable "Ensamble Vocal Daireaux"...
Dèja vù, i feel this song from epic movid or video game
Would have been nice if the camera person understood the parts better and zoom in to key vocal parts for us to enjoy!
This is Lux Nova
Edwin Cortez-Nunez it's actually not...maybe that little part was, but this is definitely "Lux Aurumque." I sang B2 for it my high school senior year, so...
Klank, klank, klank !!!!!
Chilling...
Yes this is Lux Nova
Deondre J. Jackson no, it's actually what he said it is.
Even BETTER! how the?......
IS THAT ERIC WHITECRE IN THE FLESH FOR REAL?
the fat controller laughed indeed
Prachtig!
Escuché el Agnus Dei de Samuel Barber interpretado por este coro, tienen unas voces privilegiadas
"Seek thee the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near." Isaiah 55:6 KJV This ship is sinking, you are not promised tomorrow jump on the life boat of Jesus Christ while you still can.
This was beautiful even though it was flat.
Just like your mom
I was trying to play along with a piano and realized it too
Because of the soloist in the beginning, unfortunately.
Is the solo at the start like a tone lower than usual?
very nice! wonder if he was not inspired by Allegri's Miserere?
I thought that myself c:
Miserere is brilliant
this is lux nova btw
Aji Setyo it's actually not...maybe that little part was, but this is definitely "Lux Aurumque." I sang B2 for it my high school senior year, so...
Incredible music, titanic. This is a miracle of human thought. Surpasses Mozart's Requiem. Today I first heard her by chance at a concert in Moscow and found it here.
Starts 1:20
1:23
This is Lux Nova not Lux Aurumque but only the middle section is different...
WHy would he present it as Lux Aurumque? I didn't understand that.. And yes, I always felt that version was underwhelming in the middle section, it's fairly better like this
Jakob Boers I've played this exact arrangement and it was titled as Lux Aurumque
I think it's clear. It is called Lux Nova because it is a new version of Lux Aurumque. I was also confused first.
You're actually all wrong...maybe that little part was, but this is definitely "Lux Aurumque." I sang B2 for it my high school senior year, so...
some one sung mode iso modo m44, is that in purpose?
on purpose
Someone has the score of that???

Skip all the crap, 1:29
Some people were flat lol... damn it was obvious as fuck
B
What I want to know is who are the trolls who downvoted this? They must reside in a special part of hell

Prachtig gezongen maar slecht camerawerk
Inmejorable status
they finish a half step flat lol
The original is better in my opinion, this one's chord progression in the chorus is a bit boring, amazingly arranged yes but a bit boring
Prachtig !
