The opening part of this song is actually the First Hymn from Delphi to Apollo. I know this because when I heard it on a CD I bought I remembered it from Civ III.
The composer of this music (Delphic Hymn to Apollo) was a guy called Athenaeus in 138BC. Damn, I wish I could go back in time and tell him that people would still be listening to his music more than 2000 years later.
@@arvindhmani06 oh, four years and I still playing. My english is better now hahaha. I confess I don't like to attack the neighbors at first because I feel sorry, so I prefer civilizations that have better unity later like the Germans with panzer or the Russians with Cossack, but the aztecs are a strong civilization at first.
lol i used to use the game editor and give the greeks every trait such as industrialist expansionist etc etc pumping out hoplites in every 2 turns was amazing in capital

Thank you for telling his. I've always wondered the sources of pieces of civ 3 OSTs. Do you know any more?
My mind is blown. I love learning things like this, thanks for sharing!!
And then I suddenly realised that I know one of the oldest written songs ever through the last 20 years. Thanks for sharing this!
So, it turns out one of my favourite songs was composed more than 2000 years ago. Wow.
Not just the opening, but the climax, and most of the rest of the song!
When the ancient era music is *literally from the ancient era* it hits hard.
Whoever was in charge of this soundtrack was putting down HEAT

The mad ancient drum solo going hard outta nowhere: 5:29
0:55 이 음악을 들을때면 "음... 앞으로 어떻게 진행을 시켜나가지" 하고 깊게 생각에 잠기게 됩니다
I loved to play as the Egyptians. But everytime I tried to make The Pyramid someone else always finished it before I did. UGHHHH
I like to play as americans...for expansionist...(Sorry my english, i'am brazilliam)
Thats a good civilization to choose. Most people go for Germany if their way of winning is conquest, since they have the best tanks in the game.
Yes, the panzer is great. A great civilization in the beginning is cartage, numidiam mercenary is very good
@@MrBrightClone Also Aztecs, love exploring with their Jaguar Warriors, i.e. scouts who can fight

You can hear when the first stones were blasted to reveal the fire of civilization
