Well at least him and moody ended up recovering, it’s also possible Prescott was already fed up with the phone and decided to destroy it even after Mickey decided to do the right thing since he is one of the outliers of the Gremlin race, meaning he might do something like that on his own.
9 year old me is loving this. I like this idea a lot, always love to piece canon paths together in games like this. I think this works quite well, especially since the Thinner “bad” choices made sense plot wise and are relatively explainable: -Clock Tower: Mickey is still new to Wasteland. He’s still scared and confused about his surroundings. He doesn’t realize the potential of paint yet, so when the enormous, psychotic clock robot wants to kill him, Mickey chooses thinner out of fear for his own life, something he knows will destroy the tower. -Moody: I think simply, this was an accident. Mickey, mischievous as he is, would take an easy solution like Thinner without a second thought. He looks pretty unaware to Moody being there in the loading screen art. I think this works character development wise too. We know Mickey isn’t a stranger to using the brush like a toy to awful consequences, so something like this would really compel Mickey to respect the power of Thinner and to use it only when necessary. Also it’s hilarious to think such a blatant “bad” choice is canon -Telephone: I feel either Mickey didnt understand what Prescott meant by “getting his wrench back” and unknowingly gave him permission to take it by force, or he saw through Prescott’s threat and denied him entry, but later, after Mickey left Wasteland, Prescott went back and tore the telephone apart on his own. It would explain why Gus “never hears the whole story” and why Mickey wouldn’t know. Prescott did it after Mickey and Gus left him be. Plus, this definitely feels like something EM2 Prescott would do -Skull Island: ignore/jam is definitely non canon. I’d say Paint would be canon solely cause I feel the dialogue in EM2 implies more pirates are out there than we see, and also, it would fit better narratively. The last time Mickey jumped to using thinner to solve a problem, he made a safe fall on an innocent pirate, greatly injuring him, so I think Mickey as a character would trust that Paint would save the pirates and get it done right. -Hook: I would imagine, as hard as we have to squint, the “Thinner/Free Sprite” path is canon. Knowing Hook is missing in EM2, the Paint path is very unlikely to be canon. Otherwise, I feel Hook would still be around, plus Pete Pan would still be busy fighting Hook up until Mickey returns to Wasteland. Knowing neither is the case tells me Mickey defeated him, disassembling him on board the ship so his clothes are recoverable. -Pipe Organ: I’ll have to see it in its entirety, but I took Rolly’s dialogue as taking place when the Pipe Organ initially forced the ghosts out of the manor before Mickey arrived, not Mickey further enraging him. I can’t speak for whether or not fixing/enraging the Pipe Organ is canon tho. I’d assume fix? As for some other stuff: -I’d say side quests like Ortensia’s Locket are super subjective in which path you take and we can’t really nail down either or. They have little bearing on the plot or events in EM2, so it’s pretty personal. My guess, most of them are Paint, since many of those choices are very cut and dry. Examples being give the grieving toon his dead wife’s locket back or keep it for yourself/sell it for a measly profit. Knowing who Mickey is in the sequel, it’s pretty unlikely he does Thinner in most/all of these. -Given that he’s allowed to work on the projectors, I’d imagine Mickey canonically found Small Pete’s ship log, but I have a feeling he held a grudge of some sort. Knowing he’s willing to help whatever plan the Pete’s were plotting in the cliffhanger, I think it’s either Small Pete never truly befriended the Gremlins, or he did, but soon had a falling out with them. Perhaps they accused him of sabotaging the projectors? -I think Mad Doctor fight can go both ways, but I feel Thinner is a little more likely to be canon, solely cause I feel Mickey saved all the Gremlins in canon, and as such, those he saved in Lonesome Manor would help him during the fight. As such, Mickey thins out the machines. It also fits the situation. There’s no merciful, redemptive outcome using paint here, no reason to show restraint. Thus, Mickey goes out of his way to trash the doctor’s abominations to the fullest with thinner. Not to mention his own personal experience as one of the doctor’s victims. -I can’t imagine the Throne Room not being Paint. This choice has direct result on Oswald’s last words to Mickey before the cutscene where the Blot rips him and Gus away for the final boss. It’d be pretty inconsistent if, in one moment, he’s telling Mickey off for being the destructive, selfish person he always knew he was, and the next, he’s swallowing his pride to accept Mickey and start over. -I think Shadow Blot Thinner is canon for two reasons. One, Mickey looks very disappointed after winning with Thinner, like he was convinced beyond any doubt that there was no other option, and at this late in the game and with the experience he’s had with the brush, id assume he’s probably right. And two, it makes narrative sense. Mickey had every intention of destroying the blot, and since he believed the shadow blot was indeed the true blot before Oswald told him otherwise, I think he’d opt to destroy it. Plus, the redeemed Shadow Blot is nowhere to be found in the time between EM and EM2, as well as during the entire plot of EM2. I find it unlikely a friendly Shadow Blot would ignore Wasteland when it needed help, plus I have a feeling the Mad Doctor would seek him out to control or capture him, and from what we know, he doesn’t at all. Thinner makes the most sense. Just my two cents. Good job!
I'm really glad you mentioned the fact that Hook can just be broken into pieces instead of fed to the crocodile. I'd hoped FungusNitrogen would mention it in the video as a possibility, but maybe he just didn't know you could do it that way. I agree with you that it's way more likely they'd be able to recover his clothes if they're just laying on the ship as opposed to being at the bottom of the thinner sea, even if both endings involve the clothes being thinned out
extremely good insight on the game here. i never even thought about Pete Pan being in EM2 implying that Hook's path was Thinner. also, i chose not to do some other side quests like Ortensia's locket because most of those side quests would just be based on "did Mickey do it or not?" those quests are optional but i wanted to do the ones where the player is forced to make two (or more) different choices
@@dilloncooper600 that's a good point, i did know you could destroy Hook by smashing him against the walls over and over. i mentioned this briefly by saying that there's 3 ways to go about his boss fight while showing the cutscene for Hook falling apart

Mickey and Gus have an exchange about how it would drive ANYONE mad, and then Mickey says maybe he should have redeemed the tower instead of...well...and then they get the hell outta dodge without another word.
yea the ones i always thought for sure were cannon thinner path were the Clock tower, Moody, Hook, and the Pipe organ. i used to get sad over them but now i just find it morbidly hilarious that one of the paths you can do in EM2 is tricking Smee into going on a wild goose chase looking for Captain Hook knowing full well that he’ll never find him cuz he’s dead, like it’s really funny how despicable Mickey has to be to look Smee dead in the eye and say NOTHING when Smee proclaims his quest to go find hook when he’s the one who killed him💀💀💀

Even though we don't have any installments after EM2 to cement which choices are canon, I still think it'd be super cool to have a video discussing and speculating which choices are most likely to be canon for the second game's story-line. I know the graphic novelization was never officially translated from the original Italian to English, but fan translations exist here and there
I think that too, he just Live on that mountain helping People with his friendly brothers that were in Fact created from the Blot because The others Were working for mad doctor, etc. So i think all those painted enemies Were spared and now lives on that mountain with a workshop
It was always very easy to feel bad about the world considering Mickey was directly responsible for it being so terrible in the furst place. Anything less than Mickey cleaning up his mistake would just not sit right.
If Epic Mickey 2 ever gets a chance at getting remastered like the first game, I think it'd be cool to have certain events change depending on the save data from the first game.

Considering one of the ghosts is trying to help make the blots nice, and clarabelle has a garden of spatters she keeps around, I'd assume the paint path would be Canon for the blot fight, allowing the blotlings to be more friendly thanks to mickey reforming the major form of the blot. As for dark beauty castle, i don't imagine mickey would want to make the castle even more unstable then it already is during that part of the story, so he'd repaie the murals to keep the stability (and as a psudo apology to oswald). It could be argued that the Teddy Bear screeching Sam took is Scurvy Pat’s. The bear is identical which while it could just be another one of that same bear I don’t see why it can’t be the same, which would imply Mickey got the bear for him. I also think it’s safe to assume Hook was fed to the crocodile and that the clothes you find were just an extra set, as it would be unlikely he’d only have one set of clothes.

neither Mickey or Gus were in his house when Prescott disassembled the phone so they wouldn't know, also when you go back in and get the gear from the phone's corpse Gus says something like "i wonder where the phone went, but it left this gear" like he's oblivious to the fact that the phone was disassembled
What the hell I had no clue you could even give Tiki Sam two of the masks. They were so easy to find that I just assumed he wouldn’t hand the wheel over unless you brought all three to him.
About Moody getting the safe dropped on him being cannon... He has always had a hard time remembering things, which was part of the mission to paint in his house, so to say that Mickey dropping the safe on Moody is not cannon...
I like doing the paint path as much as possible so some of those things on the thinner choice I may alter to fit in with the game. Maybe the quake in epic Mickey 2 caused the pipe organ to break along with causing moody to get hurt That's my opinion anyway.
i don't know honestly lo i guess if we ever get around to AE2 then we'll probably have to figure out what's canon in AE1 so the events of AE2 actually make sense
I find it funny as hell that mickey walked into oztown and when he realized Oswald was living in his house, dropped a safe on a pirate and assassinated his telephone
good idea, i forgot to mention him. i feel like Mickey didn't give him his ship log since he's working by himself in Rainbow Caverns which might imply that he was banned from working at gremlin village or anywhere that has a lot of gremlins, which Rainbow Caverns doesn't. also he's very abrasive towards Mickey and Oswald which could also be evidence that Mickey never brought him the ship log even though he asked him to
Mickey ordering a hit on his phone being canon is fucking hilarious
