I get so many requests for photography feedback or photography critique, and while I'd love to be able to give back to all of you, it just isn't scalable! So in this video, I try to remedy some of that. Over on Twitter, I asked if you had any images that you wanted me to provide feedback on, and I selected a few of the hundreds of photos! You all are SO talented, and while I'd love to give feedback on every single last one of you, I still want to thank you guys for submitting anyway.
Let me know if this kind of video is something that you enjoy watching, and perhaps I'll turn it into a series!

I suddenly got so nervous when my photo popped up 😅 Great notes though! I completely agree about the timing on this one. I wasn’t ready and only juuuust managed to get this one haha. Gotta be prepared 💪🏼 Thanks Pat!
honestly such a lovely shot though fr! i loved it! thanks for putting yourself out there!
@@patkay Thank you! Happy to be chosen!
Never have I ever felt that a 43 minute video SHOULD BE LONGER 😅 This is a fantastic series, and I hope you would do more similar feedback videos Pat. I learned so much from the strengths and weaknesses of these photos based on your comments. Thank you.
4:32 you talk abt the timing here, but don't forget that he probably timed for the passing tram's gap to be centered
which sells it a lot more than the guy's position being a bit to the left
Idk why I got so nervous when you looked at my photos lol. I really appreciate the effort put into this video. Thanks Pat!
I appreciate the lesson Professor! Everyone loves to see "perfect" pictures and I love seeing what changes can be made during and after shooting to have a stronger image that can tell a story.
I really liked this kind of series. Hope you make more of this kind often. Thank you for doing this. I'm learning a lot from you!
learned so much from this. really like the format where you go in depth and give honest feedback/opinions. would love a series with some of them over nature/landscape photography shots!
I think these kind of reviews are more useful when you go trough a lot of pictures and you give quick comments and tips about them, and when there is picture that can be good or bad but you think it deserves more attention you can spend more time on it. Having said that I'll give you anyway a thumb up to support the channel and time you put on this one.
thanks for your opinion! personally, i really don't like giving quick comments about images because that's not real feedback. in my opinion, it's better to go deep on a few than to go shallow on many, but hey, we're different people. i appreciate you taking the time to give me your thoughts on this anyways!
@@patkay of course, I thought it would have just been more considerate for the people who spent their time answering your post with their pics, but again it was just a suggestion I know other people might and should disagree, but to give you a bit more context, the reason why I think these kind of videos are useful is that some of the stuff you say will resonate with me, next time I'm out shooting, and If you have said more times the same things about different picture, they usually stick more into my mind.
I love this kind of feedback videos. Feels like I'm in a class, learning and taking notes of what you're saying
Congratulations, everyone! Awesome work, Pat! Please make a series out of it! It'll be very educational!
@pat_kay some scammers trying some BS here, man...
Like the honesty and peace that you bring to images. Just figuring out the next thing to add to underwater imaging and i'm liking this whole street challenge. Thank you. Appreciated
I really liked the feedback format!
I think it’s really helpful to look at practical examples and think about it. What’s good in it, what could be improved. I think that’s a good way to improve. Thanks for your time!
Great video! Learned so much by just getting to know how you would do a certain photos differently and the minor details that we can pay more attention on. Definitely hoping for a series Thanks!
Great!!! I learned a lot in these 43 minutes, thank you so much and yes: please make a series out of it! I could watch that for hours - it makes you think, makes you see, makes you feel - what's all in it for you in photography ...
Educational as always. Would be great if you can make this a series especially specific to portraits.
Thanks for the tip to under expose when using hard light. I love the look of these images so I will try this technique next time I’m out shooting
sure thing! i hope it helped!
I love this idea! It’d be amazing to see other examples in different categories!
let's see if they're videos worth making! at the minute the response hasn't been all that great. so time will tell
I'd love this as a series!
This was great. I learned a lot; if I learn just one thing, then it's worth it. The best advice I got from this video is to go hard on the light... to 3 to 5 Stops. I'm trying that out tomorrow in Brussels. Thanks Pat.
Great video, you should do more of this!
Really enjoyed this, thanks for doing it!
I know it'd be a completely different type of video for you, but would love a desk/setup tour!
Learned alot just by listening to you. thank you for doing this with your precious time
I love these long videos!
they're fun to make! just old me ranting about haha
Thank you! Never stop learning. :D
Leaving a comment and hitting the like button - great type of video that supplements your awesome stuff. Still cheering and hoping for that podcast =)
haha maybe one day. i honestly don't know if i'd be able to just talk about one thing for a long time by myself 😂
Thanks man, I had learned a lot!
Holy moly what an awesome long video!🎉❤
thanks for watching it all 😊
Yayyy love this!!
Loved this one.
i realy enjoyed a lot this video.keep continue this series
thanks for watching! 😊
more vids like this master pat! keep up the good work :>
Want more videos like this ❤
I love the feedback and love the idea of having challenges.
LET'S GO PAT!
YEW let's go!
Ohhhhh I would totally submit for a Portrait Critique!
keep an eye peeled on my twitter incase i do one!
This was very insightful! There were a lot of images posted in the tweet, I kept checking it and it just blew up 😂
I would love this to be a series. A very crucial part of learning is by getting feedback from someone who already mastered the craft.
honestly, way too many images and perhaps in a format that i'd change next time if i decide to do this again! thanks for watching.
Oooo notifications gang checking in! It would be an honour to get my photos critiques is that for the Patreon members 😮❤
i used to do something like that for members, but the numbers are a little bit too low at the moment to have something fresh all the time, so many if it grows!
no time to bend down to shoot pk.. running in slippery ice roads and family leaving that light spot.. also what up vish
ohey issa wild Ben
haha sure sure. where are your crampons mate
Great insights to think about 🤔
hope you got some takeaways!
was not expecting to be #1 LMAO solid video pat!! i love how you pointed out the one thing that drew my attention to that image as well! still irks me that he's off-center sometimes haha!
haha it just came up as the first one in the recommended, so there ya go! glad we align on the feedback hey!
The timing of the train’s movement was exquisite. The gap between the cars is precisely centered. I’d imagine that was the goal of the composition, and the position of the people in the street was simply ancillary.
This is nice… keep it up 👍🏽 sir
thanks for watching! 😊
After such good comtent ,i feel guilty not leaving a comment.
Come to Vero
Ι dont always like to follow the advice that a photo should have to have a pronounced subject. I like shooting more abstract things too that are intentionally not easy to understand. It is fine to break the rules
What should I do for you to review my photos? :O
just follow me on twitter, because ill be notifying there if i decide to do another one of these!
@@patkay thanks!
Are you on VERO? Yet?
👏
🙏
what i dont understand is you're saying okay, prioritize the picture so there's a strong focus... but what if the focus is to tell the viewer that the this is what this place has.... the focus are those elements, those houses, those towers, not the people or the person. sometimes you just want to know what this location looks like and the landscape of it, if you evaluate the picture using this criteria where there's always a human subject or the priority is on one single thing you will make the mistake of missing the point entirely. isn't that myopic? i'm not a photographer or an artist, but i feel like these artistic shots use a lot of patterns and techniques, but in my field, technique should never supersede the organic structure. that is, you should let the structure emerge from the problem that you solve and not force your own expectation on that problem because in doing so, you're biasing yourself to one path rather than attempting your best to deliver a solution in an effective way. in other words, what if the point is sophistication? i can look at something that's sophisticated and find it pleasing, i love staring at landscape, the stars, or even map. these are examples where there are plenty of details an many things to unpack which is the complete opposite of a single-subject shot. i dont agree that you have to force these techniques on an image and take away from the organic vision of the image from the photographer's frame of reference. does every shot have to be novel to make it interest??? i dont think so....
I would totally buy this course if I didn't live in the fastest growing city in the U.S. and have the privilege to learn from someone similar who shares these same values..Im SUPER lucky, but im sure this course can help those less fortunate to be taught!
#ontheflyphotographyguy
Seeing these images, I know why mine didn't get in 😆 Damn I'm so bad 😂😂😂😂😂😂
haha there's a blessing in that though! if you see a level of quality and you don't think you're there, then you've got something to aim for 😉
@@patkay Of course, but at the same time I'm sad cause I live in a small "hole" (cannot even use the word town) so I guess I gotta give up on street 🤷♀
noooo not even a scrollby on my images :(
haha sorry. there were just too many!
This is a great video but im kinda disappointed to see just one style of street photography. No use of layers, or people up close. Think Alex Webb or Daido Moriyama. Nor different kinds of patterns synonymous with street photograph like juxtaposition. Its like everyone is copying your style and you're encouraging your viewers to do more of that.
Agreed
@@devincutter_Depends on how you see it. The photographer pool is from his viewers so they probably sent him something he would like which is in his "style". I can see this being a good thing since he's a teacher/mentor to a lot of his viewers and they are able to emulate him.
Awesome Pat!
Thank you!
