Great video, loving the dynamic intros being used as transitions for each segments. Will one day get into the series, as I'm mostly all set of having each entry except the newer releases from 2023-2024.
Yakuza 0 is not only my favorite Yakuza game; it's also my favorite game of all time. Over 500 hours on PS4. The music in Y0 helped me in physical therapy after aneurysm in 2020, particularly Pledge Of Demon. Listening to that while learning to walk again in the empty halls of the physio will forever stay with me.
That’s an incredible story, thank you for sharing that!!! So cool that these games can hold such a special place because of stuff like that. Glad you were able to lean on this game to get through!!
I was thrilled when I saw that Like a Dragon was introducing classic JRPG combat. I played Kiwami first, followed by 0, and in both cases, I loved just about everything in the game EXCEPT for the combat. It just didn't click with me, and I want to say it felt sluggish to me for some reason that I can't really explain. I thought the main story and characters were really compelling, and that the side content was hysterical, so I trudged through combat sections to get back to that. Like a Dragon is sitting in my backlog, but I'm really looking forward to adding a combat system I like to a world/story/tone that I really enjoyed in spite of it's gameplay trappings.
I can understand that! It was a bit cumbersome for me to jump back into turn based stuff after playing most of the series as a brawler. I skipped over like a dragon in my series playthrough because I had already finished it, but played infinite wealth again (this is what inspired me to play the series). I really enjoyed the combat there, felt like a better version of like a dragon's combat. Hopefully you can get to it at some point!
I don't care where people start, I just hope they do. It's probably the best and most consistent series in video game history. I can't express my love for this franchise enough 😎👍
I beat kiwami 1 and 2 and then finished yakuza 0. I would say 0 is a very good starting point and makes the emotions with nishiki in yakuza 1 even more powerful and sad
I started with Yakuza Like a Dragon as it was given out through PS+. Wasn't sure on it at first but the story and job system hooked me. I'm not quite done with it, I think I have 4 chapters left. After I'm finished the story I'm going to play Yakuza Kiwami and see how I like the original style. If it sticks I plan on playing all of them. I also plan on playing the Lost Judgment spin offs, Infinite wealth, and Ishin.
Warning about Lost Judgment, it gives away a huge spoiler for the storyline of Yakuza: Like A Dragon/Like A Dragon 7 not far into the game. I feel it's best to play Like A Dragon 7 first.
I started with yakuza: like a dragon, the infinite wealth, and I did just fine. But I have since started the older games. Already finished 0, and kiwami, just barely into kiwami 2.
I definitely wouldn't recommend starting with zero like I did. It's hands down the best game in the series so everything else seemed so inferior to me by comparison.
I can understand that. Easily the best game in the entire series for sure. I think it set up the series in a really great way for me by getting me emotionally invested in Kiryu's journey that I wasn't super fussed about the rest of the games being better than 0 - which they certainly weren't! But I really enjoyed the ride regardless!
This was soooo well done! It’s the perfect guide for someone who hadn’t played a Yakuza game! Kudos!
Thanks!!! Hopefully this inspires someone to play!
I like your videos brother. Keep up the smooth attitude! Subscribed!
Too kind - thank you!!

Yeah thanks! I thought it would be a cool addition! Hopefully you can check these games out soon enough!
Great video man! Your enthusiasm for this series is really making me want to start this. Will def come back to this video as a guide ;)
Awesome editing, Erek! This is a well thought out video, and very helpful indeed! Cant wait to get into the Yakuza series myself 😎
Thanks dude! The remake of Yakuza 1 comes to switch in just a few weeks so I hope you consider grabbing it!!!!
@@ErekLadd My body is ready 😎
Hahah you added the dude in his underwear dancing 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video an agreed really loving this series can't wait to get into more of the series
No way I could make a Yakuza video and NOT mention Mr. Libido!
@@ErekLadd 🤣🤣🤣🤣 is that really his name 😂😂

I couldn't agree more to be honest. The consistency between games, and every game being GREAT is mind blowing!
My favorite Yakuza game is Like A Dragon: Ishin, the setting fits perfectly with a game series as unique as Yakuza.
Great choice! I'm hoping we get a translated version of Kenzan as well.

Totally agree. Yakuza 0 really set up 1 for me in a way that I wasn't expecting with Nishkiyama's story.

Yes this is true! Thanks for the heads up :)

I wouldn't recommend Like a Dragon as the First Yakuza.
It's a very, very tough Game that could scare people off
The selfish dead is not freedom
Just give me a list already
