Apple Store - oh sorry, the sensors show there's been water in your laptop. $1500.
They change the board because corrosion will still occur over time even if you don’t see it.
well, fun times that the new button press to wake on the macbook fucking M1 ... it turns on .. even if you are trying to wipe down the keyboard. Fucking horrible feature.

I am trying to get my test Big Sur a PFS volume set up for Apple certification support professional training so I can get a job with Apple. I’m blind and using voiceover. I’ve called Apple, but The senior advisers I have spoken with thus far really weren’t to confident in their abilities.
1. Take power out
2. Power it down.
3. Turn it upside down
4. Leave it around 48-72 hours (do not do anything during this duration.)
5. Take it to an apple store

Power it off, open it up, hit it with a dryer, clean with isopropyl 99% and a toothbrush. Reassemble, replace broken components - speaker, mic, screen, audio port etc
They told me to buy a new one or £900 fixed fees! And I went home and fix it myself!

@@kaismap No, it’s not, but it’s got a medium size wet dot on the screen, and one of the charger input is not working! But everything else is fine!

You didn’t mention if the tech had ever found any corrosion or water damage to your laptop. The videos are painfully silent on this.

Wow I wish I saw this back when I had a little splash on my laptop. Not sure yet what is wrong with it. It’s in for repairs. They will let me know if it’s water damage or not.

I don’t trust apple stores. I rather go to a small repair shop. Apple will tell you you need to buy a new one.
No I don’t think so. If you just bought the puter like if it’s within 2 years from 5he date you bought it, it’s not going to cost you.

Okay so my M1 MacBook Air got liquid damaged last year in 2022. So Last June. I never got it looked at so at this point,my keyboard is sticky now but it still works fine. However the keyboard is annoying. Should I try to get it repaired at this point or get a new one and retire it?
Always bring you divice to a repair shop. Because liquid damge can have long term consequences like. If you have apple care you than its woth it to repair. If not its probably gonna cost you a lot of money than better buy a new one

Thanks mate. I spilled water on my 2021 M1 about 2 hours ago and I freaked the hell out. I’ve done everything on the list and even better my housemate had the screwdrivers I could use to take the chassis off. I’m either super lucky but I fear that the damage could be a lot worse, guess I’ll find out in 2-3 days…

@@TechWithEmilio Hey! i spilled about a gulp of water on the right side of my keyboardand speaker of my mac air m1. i tilted it sideways to get the water out of the surface and pat it with a dry towel. i turned it off between 10 or 15 minutes bc i had a meeting and i panicked
and i accidentally turned it on for about 4 or 5 times now because of the new power up feature by apple just by pressing any keyboard. But i immediately shut it down afterwards, will that affect the recovery days? ill leave it for about 48 hours till it drys out

@@TechWithEmilio It's going well. There appears to have been no major issues with it since it happened. I got as much water off as I could with a microfibre towel after I pulled off the chassis and avoided using it. It was turning on so I thought it might be OK.
I took it to a guy in Canberra who can repair them well as I was scared of corrosion, he managed to fix it up and only charged $100 which was so good. I had to buy a hard drive to back up my data in case it died on me and quickly backed it up.
This was all on the 17th of April and it's now 11th of May, I haven't had any issues with it since.
So I'm either lucky or the worst is yet to come, only one way to find out!

Hey my laptop isn’t a MacBook but I have a question, I spilled cola on my laptop, I shut it down, I put it upside down in a tent position and there wasn’t any instant affects. I need my laptop in 1 or 2 days what should I do?

@@sedbaka Works perfectly fine actually but the keys are sticky even now.
I have a similar problem. For now there is no stickiness but I did spill some directly onto the track pad.

@Yuki Shuzi it’s still up and working just took it inside ejected the dvd in it wrapped it in a towel and didn’t plug anything into it for the rest of the day
My computer is making weird fan noises after i spilled liquid on it
I spilt a tiny bit of coffee on the mouse pad part of my MacBook Air 2020 about 45 mins ago. I screamed, quickly wiped it off, turned it over in tent position and turned it off! But it kept on turning itself back on! Eventually, after I force quit every thing that was open, I was able to shut it down(I hope it still is!). I also wiped with ever so slightly damp (really not wet at all) kitchen towel a few times to make sure outside completely dry and not sticky). I’ve left it to dry in the tent position now, turned off , but worried because it was turning itself on that will have caused permanent damage. 😢

Hi! my macbook was closed but i spilled water on it but it wasn’t a lot that i thought it would be, i dried really quickly and i’ve left it to dry on its own, do you think it’s still safe for me to use or would I have to go to the apple store and check for damage?

did you get a mark on your screen?
Just lift it upside down and suck the water out using mouth, then put a paper towel on keyboard, close it, turn upside down and leave it for a while.

My Macbook turns on but shuts off in the loading screen I plug in my charger it shows me that it’s fully charged

It shut off by itself. Fan is going, so we will leave it inverted for now. They tried to turn it on but no luck. Fan is running though. Told the girls to just leave it alone - also we took immediate action to drain it and we did blow dry it just a little bit on a cool setting to push the water down and out

@@ultsarin Hello! Yes, as a matter fact I was indeed very lucky and my MacBook still works. Although I should mention that some keys are kinda weird when pressed, but essentially it all works the way it should!

I used a wet paper towel to clean mine and a few hrs later after trying to use it the screen kept turning black, and now when I open it there’s a part of the screen that’s brighter than the rest, i think there may be water in the screen

I spilled a latte all over my keyboard during a zoom class and i panicked for over 5 minutes (i was still in zoom), before shutting down the laptop and turning it upside down, but then a few minutes later i found out it hadn't fully shut down! i immediately called the apple store but im so scared, the macs only a couple months old. any hope?
eeek, doesn't sound good Michelle Tan. There is hope...but it's coffee so that stuff may stay in the mac. I'd recommend getting the apple store folks to clean it up. Hope it all works out.

I spilled water on it during a teams meeting so took me a good 5 mins to turn it off. But I had inverted it and soaked the water with paper towels. I closed the lid and decided to put it in the tent position again but unfortunately the laptop turned on again. I turned it off immediately and have left it in tent position. I will keep it for 48 hrs and update. I hope it is fine. It's a fucking expensive Macbook Pro 16 which cost almost 2k. 😭
Update: it’s been fine 😅 luckily nothing happened to it

@@apurvaagarwal1209 after 60 hours it worked fine, but the backlight didn’t work and it was really hard to see. Apple store said the display bar and logic board were broken (costs $800 to fix). We took it to a place that could fix it for $300 but it’s still being repaired
I haven't subscribed for apple care previously but since it was just two months from purvhase. I subscribed it for 100dollars and I am sending my laptop tomorrow to apple store. Will keep updates

I didn’t get a chance to turn off my lap too it was on sleep mode and it just turned off before I can get water out and I put it upside down
I was using my Mac. It was working for like 20 mins . I didn’t think it was a big deal. Till it turned off a couple of times.
