    Hey guys, I hope you enjoy the review! How have you enjoyed Dissidia NT so far, are many of you are still actively playing it? Let us know! ~Darryl/Lauren

      I LOVE THIS GAME! And the match making you say takes a long time, but it takes a short time on my PS4 and there aren't any problems in the game on my PS4. Anyway so yeah I'm having so much fun with Dissidia NT, and my final verdict on Dissidia NT is a 10/10 in my book.

    Its not a bad game at all but is definitely lacking a LOT in terms of single player experience (yes, some of us are not much into online play) and I miss all the RPG elements they took away...

      Arturo Escorcia i guess but said rpg mechanic's lead to characters being really really unbalanced to damn near broken

      Yeah agreed. Although I pop it in from time to time just to play gauntlet mode. This game could have been so much more but I enjoy the little bit of single player content we did get.

    I still miss ex ults...and the rpg feel. Also, I kinda like how dissidia 12 implemented its story as a prequel that was moderately dark. It was literally rouge one on the psp!

      Chauncey Hester exactly, the story was so fleshed out. Too. The story on NT is mediocre and if the memoria system wasn't there you could beat it in minutes

      I agree that I miss the EX Bursts but...could you imagine how annoying it would be seeing them all the time from enemies/allies and having your flow disrupted by the cutscenes? It would wear off fast in 3v3.

    • @xxvimilia
      @xxvimilia 7 лет назад +1

      Something Something I mean...it works in smash...just activate the cutcscene only for those unfortunate enough to get caught in the attack.

    • @somethingsomething9006
      @somethingsomething9006 7 лет назад +2

      Chauncey Hester
      I see that, but in Sm4sh, it can be annoying if you're not near the attack, and you just get roped it because super move.
      In Dissidia NT, you're supposed to work as a team. Wall rush as a team, chain bravery strings as a team, and HP attack as a team.
      If you wall rush someone, and your ally is at a killing blow, what is intended to happen is that they come and get a guaranteed HP attack due to your combo. An EX burst would have to only affect one person if you didn't want to break the game. It would also kill the team part because you could probably get easy kills by yourself. Imagine Onion Knight using Holy into Meteor and having such a big ass hitbox that it unfairly destroys the enemy team? It would be hype, but would it be *balanced*? Probably not. Hence why Final Smashes aren't in competitive play, EX Bursts and any free guaranteed damage that would do A LOT of damage would break that balance. They subbed that sort of thing in for Unique EX Skills which _can_ be broken (see Vaan's skill with high bravery) but still really turn the tides in battle.
      Remember, this is a game designed for eSports.

    I'm really loving the game. I've experienced almost no lag (much better than the Betas), and I find the core gameplay extremely fun. There's plenty of room for improvement, but what we have right now is very fun and interesting. Can't wait for more characters!

    I love Dissidia NT! I really am enjoying it! But I do have a few problems with it. Much I agree with Darryl said in the video!
    I'm a bit mad that Ace wasn't connected to the Story, it wouldn't add much to it, but I would really love him interacting with the other FF characters. Considering he's one of my favorites. But my 2 major big problems is one: The Summon Fights. Now, they can be pretty fun, however at the same time, they can be a bit TOO OVER POWERED at times. I feel that they didn't really balance the Summon AIs real well. The Summons can do so much shit and spam over power things at you at once! To the point its chaotic! But what's really sad about them, nine times outta ten, I just set back and let my AI party damage the Summons and finish them off. No kidding. You can actually just fly around and let your party members kill the Summons for you! Not to give too much away, but the final boss is a Summon fight, and oh yes, just like before, I just let my AI party members defeat him, because the fight was just TOOO ridiculous to handle. I hope Square updates the game and balance these Summon fights better. My second problem is pretty much what Darryl said. After you complete the (short) story, there really isn't much else to do afterwards. The game has really small replay value to it. Despite the Summon fights, Dissidia NT is pretty fun, its just sad there isn't much to do after you beat the story. Hopefully after awhile, they'll add more content to it. Cause this game is really fun and it deserves to get more things to do!
    GREAT REVIEW, DARRYL! I enjoyed it! :)

    GREAT review! I agree with everything stated here.
    I'm REALLY hoping they continue to support the game not just with characters but more content. We were given the bare bones of a potentially amazing game but it needs to be greatly expanded upon. We really only have 2 game modes: Standard and Core Battles. There's not even an actual training mode to speak of which is pretty sad. I love the game but there's a serious need for improvement

  • @haleyellis7939

    This is a review from a very obviously dedicated final fantasy fan and it does a great job of showing how character representation and the characters were handled but it does very little in explaining the gameplay. I don't know a whole lot about dissidia and I was hoping to learn what the game was like, but I really have no idea what it plays like even after watching this review. You mentioned different classes but didn't give any examples of what they could do beyond a single sentence. Or what battles are like. How big are the arenas? Is it a combo based system? What were those crystals projecting fields all over the battlefield? Overall the review was very in-depth about what it covered but I believe you should have covered more about what the game actually felt like to play.

    This review is excellent!! Some of the things you said i agree with completely and you are right on point with this review. For anyone still wondering about getting this game, this review will help you decide. He breaks everything down and fills you in with everything without spoiling much. This game is great, but it definitetly could be better i think. So hopefully, like you said and things you've mention, they do consider and make this game even better. Thanks for the review, keep up the great work!!

    Unfortunately this is more a Koei Tecmo production than Square Enix at all. FFXV got updates because the company cares about the brand. Koei Tecmo, not being that beholden to fans of the final fantasy franchise, may not be as invested in this games appeal beyond esports. Frankly, I have low expectations I'll add this to my collection unless they get ballsy and add characters I want to see that they likely won't add (Amarant, Genesis, Minwu)

    Awesome review. This game isnt perfect or on the hype level as Monster Hunter World or Dragonball FighterZ but for core FF fans and ever Dissidia fan (who wont stop moaning how the battle system is changed) its a solid fun game with lots of potential.
    I look forward to seeing how SE will fix this game up to be a E-Sports title since that is what they announced they want this game to be

    • @christopherdavis8290
      @christopherdavis8290 7 лет назад +3

      RasenRendan X the game is so much fun once you get the hang of the controls and lock-on system. That’s why it’s so unfortunate that it takes five minutes to get back into a match. They end so quickly and we’re left clicking thru a dozen menus. It’s the only thing holding this game back from being great in my eyes

    • @RasenRendanX
      @RasenRendanX 7 лет назад

      I agree with this. I said i had more fun playing Dissidia NT beta over FighterZ (tho i love FighterZ a lot and bought it). NT and Opera Omnia i got into a serious FF mood again. It was such a great feeling playing that beta.
      Im well aware of the flaws the game has tho but im not worried cuz they can be fixed thru patches and i know SE is watching and listening to feedback.

      I'm just salty cause I spent $80 on the game and season pass on what I thought would be a fun game to kick back enjoy a good story while spending 600+ hours level grinding and equipment and having fun customizing and trying different moves for my characters like I did in duodecim. But unfortunately it is far more streamlined and I hate having to play online matches to play the mediocre story.

    if they add a 1v1 mode in this game, then I'll gladly pick it back up. honestly I don't find the 3v3 battle appealing in the least. yeah I probably suck as a player, but I feel that this makes the battles to chaotic and I have to keep an eye open to all my surroundings just to make sure I don't get jumped by the other fighters while I focus on one guy.

    • @exia2321
      @exia2321 7 лет назад +1

      It's a team game. You're not suppose to focus on one guy. Everyone has a role to play. Changing the lock on system from character to proximity to listing helps quite a lot. But overall, this game wants you to have your area awareness on point. This is a 3D Arena Brawler rather than a typical fighter so yeah.

  • @exia2321

    Just a heads up, Tidus in this game revolves around his dash attacks. Even his unique ex-skill is meant to restore his dash gauge. That's basically why Tidus's other bravery attacks are pretty mediocre in comparison. Other than that. And lets not forget Vaan as a specialist can have 2 HP attacks at once and has a reason to keep using his hp attacks due to after hitting them a certain amount, they'll get stronger on their own. In return however, Vaan's Bravery attacks and unique ex-skill are pretty lacking. If everyone else was able to use 2 HP attacks at once, it would prob be pretty meh to deal with. Otherwise glad you did a clear and thorough review about the game. My only wish atm is for a spectator mode to be put in, but otherwise I definitely am loving Dissidia NT. Really glad I got this over DBFZ and MHW last month.

    Terrible. Such a huge waste of potential.
    Having to grind in meaningless offline or unrelated online battles just to unlock a cutscene in an non-interactive story mode feels like such a cop out.
    The gameplay is also wonky and feels unnatural. The characters don't seem to fight efficiently with the style of game and mechanics being used.
    Putting together such a huge ensemble of beloved FF characters and doing very little with them is a huge missed opportunity.
    I'd love to see a proper adventure with all these characters fighting along side one another, but unfortunately, to Square this is nothing but a gimmick.

    • @mrtoolegittoquit2

      saboteneko grinding in final fantasy....wherever did you get that idea?

    • @pandaeyez
      @pandaeyez 7 лет назад +2

      Can you not read? I said MEANINGLESS and UNRELATED.
      Usually, grinding in Final Fantasy games has a bigger purpose and helps you with the gameplay.
      The pay off in Dissida NT is pathetic. It doesn't contribute to much or help the game in anyway. Displacing gameplay and story/game progression completely shifts the focus and energy of the game.
      I hope that helped you to understand this time. Please read people's comments more carefully in the future.

    Despite receiving overall decent to positive critical reception, the game sold poorly according to the developers. They hoped that the updates from 2018-2019 would produce good sales, but when that failed, the game was essentially abandoned.
    Materia shares her name with the Lifestream-made stones from VII. It's a wonder Cloud doesn't even react.

  • @SenshiV
    @SenshiV 7 лет назад +2

    I haven't enjoyed that much.
    Some rounds, I spend most half of the time 'chasing' characters all over the field, to miss an attach, and continue chasing them all over the field again, I think dashing should be much shorter it's a little ridiculous.
    Other thing I don't enjoy is when all the characters suddenly focus on you, although that's normal, but handling defending yourself from all three opponents at once its a little overwhelming.
    Another thing I dislike is attacks that are 'position based'. This game has too much mobility, I am hardly ever able to land Ramza's long range magic attack (for example) since everytime it lands the opponent already moved somewhere else, attacks like those are too slow for how fast paced this game is it's useless. Having to wait for a perfect time to use it makes it an attack for an occasion and not something you can count on at hand, and besides, it's not like its a powerful attack either, it's a little worthless in the arsenal.
    Confession: It just might be me being a bad player, I am not used to competitive games. So you can say all that is jut because I am not a dedicated player, still, I assure you I have dedicated more time than I expected I would to this game.
    Stage I dislike: Midgard. It just have so many 'natural stage barriers' you spend most time getting to the other side of one of those obstacles when your opponent is already an another side of another wall, so frustrating.

    I can respect that Final Fantasy Dissidia NT is a solid framework for a good game. Perhaps I'm not far enough in yet, but it looks like summon bosses are Story Exclusive. If they added in:
    Multiplayer Gauntlet mode
    More Outfits/Characters/Weapons/Music
    1v1/2v2/Boss Battles
    I'd love this game.. But right now, it's exactly that, a fantastic framework for a great game.

      Ryan Tillett There's individual boss fights on two difficulties in Story once you finish it. And man, hard difficulty is nuts.
      Also, once you complete the story, there is a boss rush mode which unlocks, also with two difficulties.
      I suggest doing the hard mode boss fights individually first, as it also unlocks each boss theme for you.

    I will say this: I don't want story. What I want is character interaction in a grey manner. This game is melting pot of characters: let me interact in a less "I am good guy and you are bad guy" way. Odd bonding between Warrior of Light and Garland is adorable and show down between Shantotto and Ultimecia was amazing.

  • @HewleyxAngel
    @HewleyxAngel 7 лет назад +1

    I've been excited about this game since it was announced, since I played the first two games when they came out. I will agree with some of the story disappointing, especially in regards to some characters and setups like with Squall and Lightning. But there were some fantasic moments too like the aforementioned Ultimecia and Shantotto scene, but also some delightful surprises in some later parts.
    The only other thing I'd say is how responsive the controls are. Like I've never had a problem with input delay or frame rate drop, everything feels fluid and kinetic. Also agreed about the summon fight balancing, especially because the tutorial sets it up as being a place for vanguard characters, but the first fight I encountered was the hardest with Ramuh. Every other summon fight was a comparative cakewalk, but I got a lot of satisfaction from beating them, and personally part of that was that weird difficulty spike of Ramuh, so beating the other summons on the first or second run was an absolute rush.
    Anyway, I can't wait to see where they go with this game in the future and thank you for the review!

    I do wish that the Summon Battles are more engaging and less stressful; they're so unbalanced, especially when the ai won't always use their HP attacks. Regardless, I do love this game. I enjoy being in this universe and I can't wait to see what the future holds. *cough* Tifa *cough*

    I find the game very "MEH". It looks gorgeous and the gameplay is pretty solid. But its also really barebones in terms of content, and I find myself playing it less and less cuz there really is online ONLY. Also it seems like there is waaay less FF music in this game, which is a crime. And the rearrangements are OK but not great. I miss the personalized intros for each character as well. IDK, Im just hoping SE adds content to this over time...its the only way I could stay interested.

      Online only? There's six arcade modes with reasons to replay them, as well as several difficulties all with new rewards. There's also individual boss fights and a boss rush mode. Whether or not this is enough content for you... let's be honest here, that's more single player content than we usually see in the genre.

    "It might struggle as an e-sport"
    TBH, it WILL struggle unless they put up dedicated servers for Dissidia. As it is, unless I'm mistaken, it's a P2P situation and it causes lag with a LOT of people. Doing it LAN style will circumvent this for public events, I realize, but it's still an issue.

    story in games like dissidia nt or super smash ultimate are not a key component, its a bonus. i would never take points away from reviewing a slice of cake just because it did or did not have a strawberry on top.

    Love it. They could stand to add more things for lasting appeal as you said (hard to get skins etc, something for non-hardcore players to work towards), improve the matchmaking times and perhaps add some other online options, but other than that... it's a great game imho. In its current state, you just have to like competitive gaming, love FF, or both.
    I have no doubt they'll improve it with time. I've heard somewhere they're going to take the roster to 50 characters, so I'd expect some improvements along the way.

    in this game's defense, this was a JPN arcade game so that explains the lack of story mode. What is really sad is the online mode is pretty much dead in 2021.

  • @Rudajie
    @Rudajie 7 лет назад

    It's messy.. The honor code 1v1 battles online in custom lobbies are actually a nice mutual community event! That being said.. 1v1 heavily favors AOE HP attack characters (ala Firion). Obviously it wasn't made for that so if they added a 1v1 mode, they would have to rebalance the entire game. As 3v3 stands, it gets too chaotic and sloppy to be really enjoyable. It encourages ganging up and that's never fun. I've mostly enjoyed custom 2v2 matches, that feels like a good synergy. In its current state, a 2/5, rent it and we'll see where it goes.

  • @JettBlack-Music

    It’s a fun game when you are able to play adequately with the 3v3 format. Highly addictive and keeps you coming back. That being said, offline is noticeably missing content and it can use definite improvement. Objectively a 6.5

    what I mean is I've played in a one-v-one where the AI completely was just dashing around the map apparently not realizing that I'm there after I incapacitated them twice and they only have one life left they completely did not fight me at all that's what I mean and if you don't believe me you can see for yourself just play One V one mode inspiring and you'll see exactly what I mean the AI with just Dash around the map

    • @abysstruthpoet
      @abysstruthpoet 3 года назад

      It seems the ai are preset to fight one person and one person only cuts as your chasing one around the map your getting attacked by another the whole time which gets annoying when you only need one strike to.incapacitate the one running around the map

    Your review is very similar to other big journalist and pages, (around 7-8, some people 6.5 I think), for me the game is way to focus to enthusiast of FF series and not to a more general people. So I think SE will improve the game

    • @Mysterycoin1246
      @Mysterycoin1246 7 лет назад +2

      Juan Manuel Esis lol nah I think it's kind of both, a little unappealing to everyone. They made the gameplay mechanics simples enough for non ff fans to immediately join the fray, being that there are no rpg stats this time around, but the shitty story/memoria system would make anyone lose interest. at the same time it doesn't appeal to older fans because we know how a real dissidia should look. I think the turn based mobile dissidia is much more addicting. And don't get me started on the fact that you no longer get constant crits from riposte, counterattacks, sneak attack, and so on. I put down dissidia just like i put down tekken 7 smh. Why must my all time fave franchises release such shit right now?

      it feels terrible to play, and you have to play the single player or online battles to play the single player story stuff with the tokens. i just do not care for the gameplay and dont think this is a very good game, its clunky and lacks a smoothness that is just hard to forgive in this age of games.

    • @mrtoolegittoquit2
      @mrtoolegittoquit2 7 лет назад

      anthony sweat yeah most people said the Naruto to Boruto beta was ass cause the smoothness And mechanics....yet you play Dissidia and you'd be saying the complete opposite. Maybe it's where you start. I guess the old saying if you've never had something you'll never lose it rings true...

    This game has one of the dumbest balance matchmaking queues ever, how can some win against 3 human players with two cpu allies. The cpu are also usually easily killed off before the match even starts. This game could’ve been soooo much better if more it were balanced more. I give it a 6/10. Match making also take a freakin year

    I love the Battle System and the Game is absolut fun. The only Disappointment is the Storymode. I mean these Bosses are bad, I have no Fun with them and will not finish it. Will Concentrate in Gauntlet or local MP sicne I have no Ps Plus. I like the Game but the Storymode is not good. The Story itself is also boring and nothing special. Sure the Game has his Origins in Acrade and no Storymode but nevertheless.

    The game is shit solely because of the servers. Its a multiplayer focused game yet the servers are crap? What the hell are devs thinking. Thats the main issue. At least compensate with decent single player content. But no, an hour long campaign and very little customization. The game is decent at most but crap with the current state of servers

    Removing the story was a bad move. Paticularly when the previous games had fun endings and at least cute stroys even though they weren't very deep. Also taking out Tifa and Laguna sucks. Honestly everything about it seems like a down grade from the psp games.

    I always thought the PSP games were total dumpster fires, so the fact that this is more or less the Dissidia game I wanted with unique twists and turns of its own (the fact its now 3v3 for example) is nothing short of a joy to me. The improvements NT makes to the core gameplay far outweighs its shortcomings for me and I can't wait to see how they expand NT in both roster and overall content.
    That said, the barebones singleplayer, the grind barring story mode progression, and some odd issues with multiplayer here and there are some genuine concerns that should be addressed and hopefully remedied in the future. I genuinely care for this game and its overall lifespan and would hate to see this game die because not enough was done about it and/or it didn't gain enough traction outside of Japan. It's a great game and it deserves more than what it already has.
