- This is a Realistic Vlog of what a Japanese family eats for dinner in a week. We are a family of three: a three-year-old daughter, SUTAN who goes to nursery school, a work at home mom MOE, and a dad MOTO who is away from home on business trips during the week. They are not the Japanese food that is well known overseas, but the meals that the Kimono Mom family actually eats every day. They are not fancy, but cooking them with Sutan and Moto's health in mind is a blessing for Moe.

I love these casual videos. Beautiful with or without makeup, and without makeup, it's so easy to see that Sutan is already growing up into a mini Moe. There is something extra appealing about celebrities who aren't afraid to show bare faces because it feels more honest. Everything about this is so genuinely entertaining, enjoyable, and wholesome.... Sutan has such a sense of humor, Moe is incredibly resourceful with repurposing leftovers, and Moto comes home from being busy to spend quality time with them. It's kind of inspiring me to have a family haha😅

I only have one disagreement with Moto san. To me there is no gap between Kimono Mom and Moe chan. In my eyes they are both very beautiful and natural. Just as Sutan's true self comes shining through all the time so does Moe's. And the best makeup for any woman is a beautiful smile. Sutan's language skills are immense. It might be a worthwhile investment in some learning videos in English for her if you don't have them already. She picks so much up so quickly including her great grandmother's dialect.
Yes! I agree. Moe is the heart of the Kimono Mom character.. Moe does not need make-up as her natural beauty shines through very brightly. Kimono Mom is just a dressier (and more formal) version of Moe. Rather like a princess with or without her tiara.

I love how none of the *leftover foods* are wasted and that they're integrated as ingredients through out the whole week. And you can tell that it's a common practice in their household because Sutan it used to it so well.

In Canada a few produce items comes in bags, but mostly you select what u want and it is weighed at the check out. Some items sell each- like one avocado costs_____. You can buy onions, potatoes, apples, oranges, grapefruit, sometimes bokchoi, sometimes a mesh bag of garlic or avocado. If it comes in a bag, it sells for one price.
Germany too. And u can choose not to have package. Or there are reusable bags
The UK could definitely still get better at this. You can buy loose bananas but you can still get them in a plastic bag. Like, why? Same with a number of pointlessly wrapped fruit and veg. Just have a bag with you to pop the stuff in and wash when you get home.
The family is such a good looking family and it is always a crowd pleaser, especially Sutan. That little girl is such a ray of pure sunshine, the things she says and does. What is more incredible, being a person old enough to be her grandparent, is that she's mastered the eye and facial gestures that surpass my decades of experience. She is a sweet little angel with her smile.

What I noticed is your reaction when Moto suggested that you go out to eat. You looked and sounded happy. I love those simple moments that you can share with loved ones even just by eating out once in awhile, sharing a good meal without stressing out about cooking and doing the dishes. Hello from Germany! First of all: lovely video. :)
You asked about the supermarket situation in our countries.. here there are a few "cheap" vegetables and fruits packed in plastic.. but usually the good ones are just as they are and you buy them by weight. You can either bring your own bag or buy eco-friendly bags in the supermarket where you can put your fruits/vegetables in. There are also alot of packagings that are made out of recycled thick paper (so you can buy 6 apples in a nice eco-friendly packaging for example)
It's really soothing seeing Sutan grew up so well. I just noticed from the video that she's talking in more consistent full sentences, she grew up so fast. ✨✨✨

Nissei here. Love to listen to you speak to Sutan and watch you cook. The food, language, and interactions are very familiar and comforting. I lost my Japanese mom in 2016. Living in the US there are not many Japanese speaking people here anymore. I try to teach my sansei children the Japanese culture but each generation there is a "Lost in translation". I am happy for the experience but sad it's almost gone. Thank you for keeping the memories alive for me. ❤

Thanks for sharing. I miss Japan. I lived in Yokosuka, Japan for 4 years. Although it was by way of the military, it was an awesome experience. I lived in the community and had great neighbors, as well as coworkers. I've been to other countries and the one thing that will make life easier, is to let the people know that you are adjusting to their customs and way of life. 😎🙏✌️

I just love how the japanese kitchen integrates a lot of vegetables with every meal, it look so healty and delicious!!! Feels like there are so many options to create interesting meals every time 😁😁
In Canadian grocery stores, most of our fruits & vegetables are sold by the piece and not prepackaged in plastic, so you can bring a reusable mesh or cloth bag from home to bag them temporarily while you shop and check out :) Thank you for this super long video! I always love seeing what the day to day life of the Kimono family is like❤
Same in the US. You can do all your shopping without using any plastic at all.
in indonesia still have some plastic but u can get some of any vegetables all in one plastic bag… as u like so we can reduce a little bit of using some plastic bag..
In the UK many veg are still loose in supermarkets. But we are lucky to have street markets in many places where veg are cheaper, fresher and loose.
