This was the touring Glitter Band at that time and as such were asked by Gary's management to support him on this 25th Anniversary tour. Gerry and Pete agreed that John should come on and sing the bands hits that he originally sang on the recordings. It was not a get together for all the original members, it was a booking for the Glitter Band as it was at that time, with John guesting. Tony was at the Sheffield Arena show and came on with us at the end to sing Another Rock'n'Roll Xmas, as the band did at all the shows on the tour. Hopefully this may clarify the whys and wherefores, who's better than who and why this one was there and this one wasn't.......
Grear piece of glam history here.Just a shame the video wasn't clearer, but mustn't grumble, also wish Gerrys guitar was in the mix a bit better. It was a pity that more ex members didn't participate, especially Tony Leonard,as he sang with the band when they sang with Gary on "Another Rock'n Roll Christmas",and would've preferred him drumming with Pete, than Barry Heywood, who was a pretty average drummer.Great to hear Bill and Pete's backing vocals especially on "For Always And Ever".
It was probably a battle of Egos between. John Springgate & Gerry Shepard. To why they never preformed the entire 40 mins together.. as for Tony Leanard its a mystery to why he never appeared on stage as he was at the event i used to belong to garys fanclub & it said Tony Leanard was there.. it was the two original saxophonist that never showed up.. Im personally glad J. Rossall never showed up & I'm sure Gary & others didn't miss him ever..
@@fiendblastista1327 Really? I don't think that's the reason as you can see that they are friends in this video. I don't think John and Gerry ever clashed actually. They were always great working with each other.
Yeah they might off been friends but haven't worked together for ages & it showed. John springgate seemed to have a kind of Gary Glitter showman Attitude Gerry was good to seem like he was enjoying himself but quiter than John springgate
Beautiful leader Gary glitter ❤❤
I wish Gerry had made a 'how to play' video...very unique guitar parts. Thanks for sharing.

Why didn't John just perform the whole show with Gerry? Why only appear for a cameo?
Battle of Egos between Gerry Shepard & John Springgate..
