I'm 62 and was and still into 2 tone, ska. I go to see local ska and 2 tone bands. Also have seen the selecter, the beat, UB40 live. I still have original badges, pork pie hat, ect... This was a great era for me, and as long as I live, I'll keep going to gigs. Love it.
I think that's the greatest. I'm 52 years old and I myself am into 2TONE. From 1979 till now I will forever be into SKA/PUNK/Oi! Cheers 🍻 from Bridgetown CA. SGV/USA 🇺🇲🎤🛠🎸✌️🙏🇲🇽
Hey, Roger, i'm 62 too, but i'm from East Grrmany, Wasn't easy, to find this brillant Music! But, 18:11 this will be always aTime of my Life! Greetings, from Torsten, East Germany!
I remember Christmas 1980 and totp I got my nan dancing to the 2 tone hits of that year and she did love Geno, now I'm a grandad and there's no way I'd dance to the crap that they listened to today we was so lucky back then!!
Lucky enough to be at the Lanch (Coventry Poly) when Two Tone was in its heyday. (1979-82) Saw the Specials at the Students Union! Still love this stuff.
My dad and my uncle brought me up listening to two tone music absolutely loved singing along to this music and now I have my kids dancing/singing the best music 🎶
Terry Hall is a master, considering his life experiences he battled thru and changed my life for the better. Their records take me back to my best days, Ghost Town and International Jetset. When he started up Fun Boy 3, he just cracked it. It wasn't until recently that I discovered the real story behind the "School trip to France". This guy was my man hero..Toyah had my heart.
I am leaving life with the joy of having been a teenager and youngster in the ‘80s...the best era for music...and the Dexys in my heart as the highest expression of human wonder... I love you Kevin...💋
I recall this being on Channel 4 one Saturday night in late 2000. These days we can watch this whenever we want online but 'streaming' was yet to come. What a buzz, footage I'd not seen since 1980. Happy times. All the 2 Tone bands had their own individual sounds and personality.
There are still one or two bands doing gigs, and loads of tribute bands around doing ska, 2 tone. Complete madness, ub42, the gangsters, the sound injectors, are very good. This music is still around, I'm 62 and still go to gigs.
Loved this era. I lived in London as a 13 year old kid who immigrated in Dec 79 from New Zealand with my family. I was immersed into SKA culture early 80s onwards. The music was phenomenal. I saw the Specials perform live back in New Zealand in the 2000s. Awesome show. Have always loved all the bands & music from this special time in English musical culture.
This is like the video tape that gets taped over time and time again with random bits of tv and self editing.. stop and pause to cut the adverts out... Kinda nostalgia in itself. I miss these times.
Used to be Ska club in an old community hall near me,it was fantastic! All like minded souls all appearing over the hill all dressed the same with our little pork pie hats, loafers, harrington jackets etc on,it was amazing!! Happy memories! :-)

Seeing Dennis Greaves singing in The Truth reminds me of a time I went to see Nine Below Zero at the Slough Fulcrum in 1980 I believe. They had just performed at Reading Rock and had grown a large Rocker following. Me being a Mod at the time, it was very disconcerting being at a concert surrounded by extremely large leather clad persons. But I must say, they were great as we all had one thing in common....the fantastic 9 Below Zero
GENO my fave Dexys song ever ......also have great memories of going to the fair with my cousin , and we saw Buster Bloodvessel there and he got on the same ride as we were gonna go on next , so we watched him on the ride as we waited our turn lol , great guy x
I never really listened to Geno until recently 4-5 years ago! so glad.. I hate when songs get ruined by over playing.. It properly makes hairs stand up for me... now I am old I totally love the lyrics too! wish I had a band with which to do a cover of it.. or similar
I was living in London in '78 and my girlfriend had an asymmetric haircut and black and white check dresses . I had spikey punked up hair and clothes. Mega time to be around. So many gigs around town every week... 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great times to be alive and the mod revival was a breath of fresh air for all us old ska two tone boys and girls 🛵 winters coming so the parkas be on 😎x
Saw 9 below zero supporting the Brian May band at Liverpool royal hall circa 1995 I snook in back stage after going around Liverpool on the lash I watched zero an Mr May rehearse and greeted my m8s as they came in after queuing for hour's they were well miffed!!
Great memories of the eighties great Ska and Soul.Great to see the Truth, I saw them play at Loughborough University supporting the Kinks, they were good...
In the 80s i was a teenager so i sort of grow up listening to all of the band's from the 80s but my favourite had to be ska two tone & in the early 90s i got to see madness at the first madstock & the second madstock & what a amazing brilliant crazy day it was it said in the local free paper at finsbey park that the residents through tha could feel a earth quake
''Geno'' got us all up on the dance floor .Even my mates who never danced before in their life's ..some were shocking but we laughed, as they joined us ,all of us had the best nights of our life's back then 😁Don't even get me started on madness/specials and lip up fatty 😂we took over the dance floor 😂😂😂😂😁😁😁😁
I knew a lad in the early '80s who was a big fan of The Truth. Every time we saw him in the street he spoke of this band, or he was on his way to see them live somewhere. He even said he and his friends at school would pretend to be the band on the school stage. Nearly 40 years later and I am finally hearing and seeing The Truth.
The sophomore effort of The Specials is one of the best second albums of all time, right up there (in terms of excellent second albums, mind you) with Led Zeppelin II, Countdown to Ecstasy by Steely Dan, and Bridge of Sighs, by Robin Trower. Yup, it really is that good. For a second album. Great fookin’ album, then.
The first 7" single I bought with my own money was Special Brew - Bad Manners, I still absolfuckinglutely love it and them. Madness was my 2nd bought single, then the Specials. The truth were bloody terrible.
I was born in '67 and lived through this. like you. My thoughts on reading the title of the video were: Dexys - Yes! Selecter - Yes! Two Tone - well, yes Specials - Yes! Madness - Yes! Bad Manners - Yes! The Truth - who?

Appeared at the magistrates Court wearing my tonic suit, the usher looked me up and down and said "young man ,you are appearing in court, not going to a discotheque " hahaha
Went to a rugby club meal and disco DJ never turned up one of the lads went home grabbed his records and played them all night with all the above music just a shame no JAM my all time favourite (great night by the way)
This is why we love music we grow up with it and it had and has meaning to it and story's of life as it was absolutely smashing🍺 chers too all the the great bands and fans

Dexy's, The Specials, Selecter, Madness, Bad Manners. Love 'em all and seen 'em all. Interesting that the two most fun bands are the longest lived and arguably the most successful though Whoever stuck The Truth on at the end needs his head read though.

I would rather listen to Justin Bieber than. The truth.Saw bad manners at the fleece & firkin, Bristol, around 98 I was scared Buster would fall on me (worth it)
Ha... well said. I was a bit skeptical of them claiming to be straight, when their name seemed to be such a blatant speed reference. These days I prefer methamphetamine to dexamphetamine, it just seems to suit an old guy better lol
Wish English Beat was featured. The Specials, "Rudy" is my favorite song by them. -Why does everyone hate The Truth so much? Are they too slick or something? They don't bother me at all

what a brilliant time for music we will never see anything as good again as the 2-tone ska era pure magic
The best music and atmosphere since the 1960s it was OK to knock about with black or ck

It was a giant AND progressive leap from their 1st album. Many fans didn't get it but those that did received a treasure of BRILLIANT Music.
I heard them in reverse order - agree fully with what you say. Dammers most certainly delivered with More Specials!
