I believe that this episode shows that Crispin Cole is actually scared of Aemond and what he might do to him as well
The whole claim of Green is based on Jaehaerys law and tradition not misunderstanding
Jaehaerys' precedent doesn't really have anything to do with the matter. His precedent was rather one of agnatic male-preference primogeniture, i.e. that you search the family tree for males before selecting a female, hence why Viserys was made king rather than Rhaenys queen.
In this case it's simply a matter of ordinary male-preference primogeniture; even if the succession were cognatic their claim would be the exact same, regardless of Jaehaerys' precedent. The precedent set by Viserys by maintaining Rhaenyra as heir despite the existence of Aegon would essentially be one of absolute primogeniture, like in Dorne, which is what the Greens ultimately object to.
So the tradition part is correct, but not so much the Jaehaerys part.

It's not really about blood purity, Rhaena has valyrian blood from from both parents and couldn't claim a dragon, while rhaenyra's children and Alicents' children are half Strong and half Hightower and claimed dragons. So Jace's idea is quite smart
The fact that he (Jace) is the one that brought up the idea is actually an important note. He of all people would recognise that blood purity isn't all it is put out to be.
Blood purity matters you need Targaryen blood to ride unlike this show try to convince otherwise the less blod you have the less chance you have to claim dragon and get burned if blood did not matter Velaryons and Celtigars would ride dragons too but they can't even tho thye are Valyrians too .Jace is stupid ,why ? because he gave nuclear weapon to random people he don't know for sure it won't backfire

I admit that i haven't read the books (i love reading, but unfortunately G.R.R. Martin's writing style really isn't my cup of tea), but i watched some lore videos about "Fire and Blood" and as far as i understand it Alys is basically a witch...something similar to Melisandre in GoT (in fact there seem to be theories about Alys and Melisandre being the same "person"). So she's neither a ghost, nor a figment Daemon's imagination...she is physically there and Daemon isn't the only one being able to see her, because later on she'll apparently become Aemond's lover.

I think most of the lack of dialogue between the greens comes down to Otto being gone and Aegon, Aemond and Helena having the worst mother ever

Alicent and Viserys were such bad parents. Never taught their children with love. Viserys always just cared about his favorite daughter Rhaenyra. For Alicent, 1) she was forced to marry Viserys and had children she never really want to have 2) Her dad Otto was never a good parent figure either so its no surprise she turned out the same.

nope its simply due to some bad writing lmao. The show can do long great discussions, and great dialogue (alicent-gwayne in 2x6 and larys-aegon in the same episodes were great green conversations, and otto-aegon + the green councils in 2x2 were great, helaena and aegon in 2x1 were funny and had chemistry). And conversations with a bad mother are the best type of tv conversations, the show just lacks long dialogue scenes, helaena and aemond should've had a full conversation here and not just a cliché one line exchange.

Not sure how much it is or not it is SPOILER (!!!), because her actress reveal it in interview, but Alys Rivers is "someone... who's been alive for potentially 400 years." She was probably there, when Harren founded his cursed castle.
I must say I really like these fantasy-horror elements that second season have.

you're the only reactor i've seen who remembered that daemon specifically told blackwood to not implicate the crown in his "persuading" of the brackens.
2:36 Not only that but Vhagar and Meleys were the dragons of Viserys and Daemon's parents, Baelon and Alyssa Targaryen. So they would have flown together then all the time.

And not every Targaryen can be a Dragonrider, but every Dragonrider must be from Targaryen blood. So yes "dragonseeds" (Targaryen Descendants) can be Dragonrider with a lower chance based on their purity.

In the books the mother of the bastards of Corlys claims the father is Laenor and not Corlys. And Rhaenyra never was bi or gay, so thanks woke left for ruining House of the Dragon as well 🙂💪🏻 cant be enough white pale pure valyrian played by blacks and why dont make whole Westeros gay? 🎉
yes the lack of quality dialogue is the main difference between hotd and early game of thrones. hotd is scaling towards one-liner mentality and awe inspiring moments and monologues. that's why season 2 episode 2 was so good, especially the dialogue between rhaenyra and daemon. the characters find life through these conversations, that's why we cared so much for the starks, jamie, brienne and even the likes of varys, baelish, high sparrow... nonetheless, it's still a great story and rich interconnections among the plotlines that we have here.
Think about what a power couple Jace and Baela could have been if they hadn't been around the time of war.

You're so right about them undermining themselves by putting the slain Meleys on display! In fact, this whole conflict where each side tries to smear the other just make the whole dynasty look much more flawed. Jaehaerys and Alysanne managed to do amazing PR for the Targaryens, even convincing the realm to accept their incest due to "Targaryen Exceptionalism". Viserys for all his personal weakness ruled over a time of peace. Now the realm is plunged into war, the dynasty is showing off their worst sides and smearing each other, and they just showed the people how the dragons are only beasts to be slain.
I pity the ruler who has to restore the royal line's image after all this!
And I'm loving the appreciation for Jace here! He does have a problem with his temper, and can be a bit rash, but he's got a decent head for this, and the charm to win people over, and courage in spades.
You have to remember that a lot of these families intermingled with targarion so you could have Harwyn Strongs Line, which is Jace‘s biological dad, and somewhere in his family line. There could be a Targaryen‘s mixed in there we don’t know for sure, and then he’s got all of the targarion lead on his mother side, so yes, he can fly a dragon, other people out there may have the same sort of situation is going on where at some point or another they married in between targarion families or into other families all they have to do is be willing to die because sometimes the dragon eats you sometimes it burns you and then sometimes it bonds with you if you have charger in blood.
So the Regent role is always temporary until the rightful heir comes of age or the king recuperates.Alicent being raised as regent wouldn’t be a crazy ode until with Aegon is better of if he does Aemond comes of age. She couldn’t be the regent anymore because it’s his right in the line of succession the he gets crowned, but I guess he got Prince regent earlier even his regency is temp till Aegon wakes up.
Vhagar lived in peace when she was claimed by Leana. A lot of her riders have been war criminals which is why Vhagar has been in more battles and caused more destruction than any other Targaryen dragon. She was so hated by the common folk at one point that when she would arrive at kings landing, it would cause riots in the city xDD However the dragons actions only depend on their rider & it sucks seeing everyone wanting vhagar dead bcuz all she is is a slave to aemond. She is an ancient relic that holds the Targaryens so high in power. She lit Aegon the Conquerers funeral pyre and cremated him for gods sake lmao
Yes this show lacks interactions between Greens especially children like they are sibling they never interact Aegon and Helaena had really like 1 scene together and actors need to beg for another on stairs and they are f-ing married ,Aemond and Helaena are sibling too and this is the first time they interact which is ridiculous and she had like one line
You picked up a lot of things during this watch that took people who make analysis videos 2 or 3 viewings to catch like Alys disappearing and that lord Strong was looking at whatever Daemon was looking at not Alys specifically. Simon can tell he keeps seeing people that aren't there. There is some great theories out there as to who Alys is or what she wants, some think she is a Blood Raven type character who does messed up stuff but for the "greater good" to fight the Others, there is even a fun theory that she is on the opposite side working with the others. Gray Area channel even thought the reference of the barn owl was a nod to her actual house sigil house Mertyn of Mistwood Castle an ancient riverlands line. Or perhaps she is a skin changer that can turn into an owl.
Rhaenyra treat Baela as a dragon rider she is not scared to send her to death if she must and spare her son
Vahgar loyalty doesn't matter. Vahgar and Meleys were one rode by Viserys and Daemon parents. The dad rode vahgar and the mom rode Meleys, the two flew together many times. In the end, they end up fighting one another and killing one another. Dragons will fight to the death if they sense their life is in danger.
"the lack of interactions and dialogues between characters" agreed. i think this show is heavily carried by the actors performances and the way it's shot. got has some dialogue that is so unforgettable in the early seasons and really manages to make the character resonate through that. hotd lacks that a lot imo.. but the direction/music/performances are still there and the actors manage to convey a lot through the few-second times the camera might look to them.
As long as you have targarion blood, you can ride a dragon if there’s a dragon except you the dragon that Rena tried to ride would not bond with her so she will eventually find a dragon to bond with, but I’m not going to spoil it I didn’t just say that but that’s why they don’t wanna hurt your wrist it again because they almost lost her last time but sometimes it takes a little while for them to find a match between the dragon and the rider
I doubt it isnt that Rhaena can't claim a dragon. Its just risky for all dragon riders, there's no guarantee that particular dragon will accept you, that's why Rhaenyra is protective of her step daughter, she's a good mother but unknown Targaryen bastards would be easier for Rhaenyra to try im sure.
Glad u see that Daemon and Rhaenyra need one another, especially now that Alys is deliberately trying to screw up Daemon and turning him against Rhaenyra. Daemon was definitely freaked out and sickened by that vision of his mom, once he knew who it actually was. Daemon's mom Alyssa died when Daemon was 3 apparently, so makes sense he wouldn't recognise her. He isn't into parent incest lol.
Only reason Daemon knows he's the favourite son is due to Visery constantly reminding him. Which i think he clings to, his demons are eating him alive and his guilt over the Valerian women in his lives, especially his wives.
I think Alys Rivers is working with Larys Strong to weaken Daemon and divide team Black. I don't think the scene with the Riverlords was real. I think it was a dream planted by her when they spoke because it was exactly what she had said. It was meant to plant guilt and make him doubt himself. Her manipulation is meant to push him to the depth of that darkness he keeps sheathed within, as Rhaenyra put it, and divide team Black.
Alys was Larys and Harwin's milkmaid, so Larys has known her all his life. She's clearly a Greenseer, and possibly a Warg. There have been indicators that Larys is also. I think that she taught him, and is now working with him. Remember how confident he is that "Harrenhal" itself will "confound" Daemon? Because of her.
You're highly perceptive! That Alys scene definitely caused a lot of speculation about whether she's physically present or not, and whether she really disappeared or whether it was just the camera flipping. I also agree that it seems like Simon is looking either where Daemon is looking or where he senses something, but seems to be almost looking straight through her even as she passes. It's hard to say, and it's almost certainly meant to be ambiguous by the writers and directors. As someone else has noted there is indications that Alys is in fact present, but clearly also some indications that she's not. She seems to be rather ethereal, like a witch. There's a ton of speculation about her based on the book too, but I won't spoil anything. Needless to say you're picking up on the interesting things!
Criston and Aemond committed treason against their own king this is punished by death
Aemond definitely, but it doesn't matter because no one, not even Aegon, can punish him for it as preventing him from riding Vhagar in any way is tantamount to losing the war and issuing a death sentence to all the greens. Criston did not commit treason, he had no part in what happened to Aegon, and he may have saved his life when he came while Amond was standing over Aegon with his sword drawn. As for him not telling what really happened, no problem, he was in command of the battle, he was fighting enemy soldiers, he didn't have to look at the sky. So he can safely say that he thought it was Rhaenys and no one will accuse him of lying.
Alicent walking away from Aegon again, when he most needs her. I genuinely want him to win over the rest, but I don’t want Rhaenyra to lose 😩

Maybe the whole thing, about blood of the dragon might just be Valyrian propaganda as he hinted at. Doesn't matter If we go by the theory of the blood mages of Valyria crossing fire wyrms with wyverns to create the dragons (gaining both advantages of giant fire breathing beasts and aerial assault) or if you choose the vague lore of Valyrian sheperds found dragon eggs in the caves of the volcanic chain called the Fourteen Flames. From the moment the dragons were discovered or (created) they have been in the hands of the Valyrian freehold. Then the Targaryans survived the doom and carried out the tradition of keeping them in the family. Nobody has ever tried putting an egg in the cradle of a Summer Islander or a Yi-ti or Qarthi or even a Westreosi of non Valyrian descent to see what might happen. So just like Jace said, maybe it's all B.S. It's better for the Valyrians and the Targs after them. If people thought that only they can control them. (their advantage would be safer)

Moments later: "Mummy", as Alicent walks away without hearing. GoT would not exist if characters told each other what normal people would say to one another in normal conversation.
This is the cheapest of plot devices. Frustrate the audience because characters don't say the obvious to each other. Have people only talk in short dialog bursts at the moment an event is about to happen.
Ever wonder why, in action and war movies, the plan is only discussed _right_ _before_ the fight starts, but never in a an extended briefing _way_ before hand, when every tactical decision is fleshed out and explained in those kinds of situations long before they occur _in_ _real_ _life_ ?
Take any movie or series you've ever seen, fix communication so it occurs _when_ _it_ _normally_ _does_ , and you have no audience titillating story at all.
And that's why movies must not be confused with real life.
But GRRM and the GoT/HotD writers take this to ludicrous extremes to prop up wholly unrealistic drama. That, plus unjustifiably stupid tactical/battlefield decisions (Rhaenys re-attacks Vhagar, Khalasar attacks Night King's army, et al), and we wouldn't have these series...
Do past relationships count to dragons? Well dragons are more sentimental then say..crocodiles. But not much more lol. Their connections to the Targaryens are more magical then biological (well its blood magic so I guess its a bit of both) . If their rider feels camaraderie to another person, the dragon will share in that sentiment. And like wise if rider is inimical to someone, so will the dragon be.

Say what you want about Aegon, but this guy has made some great decisions in a month. For example:
1. Approved the plan to kill Rhaenyra. Yes, the plan was risky, but at worst the Greens would have lost one guard with questionable loyalty, and at best they would have ended the war in one day.
2. Appointed the best hand for wartime. As a result, Black lost all his allies on the coast and his biggest dragon.
3. Decided to pay for the work of the blacksmiths. Unfortunately, the self-righteous snob Otto ignored this order.
Yes, of course, all of these decisions Aegon made intuitively and recklessly. Yes, of course he also made some terrible decisions. But heck, he's literally yesterday's teenager, and no one prepared him for power. And even in that position, he doesn't whine about evil advisors keeping him out of combat, he gets on a dragon and flies.
When Rhaenyra opens her mouth in season two, I see a mother of five children, a nearly forty-year-old woman with a fine education, who has been groomed for the throne since childhood, and for all that, she is good for nothing. Honey, if your fool of a father didn't teach you military strategy, could you, I don't know, ask him for it? He never said no to anything, and he wouldn't say no to this. You had two husbands, both veterans of the bloody war, you could have asked them for help. Why do you literally offer nothing, why do you just walk around the castle whining about being disrespected? Why should you be respected? Because your daddy loved you?
So far I see two people completely unfit for the crown, but one is an uneducated teenager and the other is a mature, educated person who believes the throne is hers by right. That said, this "adult personality" can't get respect from her own council, and has done nothing so far that is smart, brave, strong, or diplomatic. She's approaching 40, and she goes off on a screaming spree as easily as her alcoholic brother half her age.
Why should I root for her?

People are starving according to show because Rhaenyra blockade which is stupid because KL is connected to land and Reach book wise writers forgot , but now Aemond closed gates so they will really starve so people are starving because of Rhaenyra and Aemond and he also cut off rat catcher so people will not fear them anymore in the end Aegon made the best decision out of 3 even tho they call him stupid .
When you were talking about wanting the greens to talk look at that last dinner, they had with visarys the end of the table where Rhaenyra was with her kids and Damon‘s girls and Damon they were all talking amongst themselves and eating and laughing and joking, if you look at a the greens end of table Ameaond barely said anything other than to be an ass you did rainier‘s boys Elena gave her speech and smiled at Jace for dancing with her but she didn’t say anything and so it was pretty quiet on that end and maybe they just don’t like to talk. I have met some people who are just like that families that are like that and it’s super uncomfortable for me to go with them places over to their home because I talk a lot. I am Italian I talk with my hands and my Never know how to fill that space it just hangs there in the air but I don’t want to look like I’m like battling for a year lol. Just a thought.

Team Green, A good filler episode that develop the children of daemon and rhaenyra more. I still don’t understand y Alicent thinks she should be in charge during war times when all she wanted has been no violence and restraint.
Team Black keeps taking L... they not won a single battle won, lost two dragons, vale doesn’t want to send their armies because rhaenyra gave them two baby dragons as a defense lol, daemon the great war general cannot muster an army and the river lands don’t want him because he idd the same thing in episode 4……..without corlys blockade the blacks have nothing going for them so far.
Corlys makes heir on a whim and what about people does not remember blood they remember name he is instead to Driftmark to pass to Targaryen now where in s1 he had problem with this inconsistent writing
