    Man I just finished adjusting my chain on my SCL500, I think she's officially broken in!!! Got so excited to see ya make a vid talkin bout my baby!!! I look at it this way in my newbie brain: if ya wanna cruise highways comfortably, bop around town and not look out of place, and confidently go over any terrain you encounter in the day to day: Scramblers the way to go. Its like a hybrid leaning into the style over niche practicality but keeping as much capability as possible. Want something like a cruiser but don't want something that weighs too much to handle and feels like your butts on the ground?...Scrambler! Want something that will easily take on the highway commute power wise but don't want a squid missile sport bike that explodes if it even touches dirt?...Scrambler! Want a style so unique that your insurance company doesn't know what to classify it as at first?...Scrambler! hahahaha Jack of all trades, best at none kinda bike. And the SCL500 specifically just an insanely awesome beginner bike, cause you get to peak into all the moto styles on a very forgiving platform with more analog tech (cable clutch/throttle/no tach) to teach you how to be a great rider and become "in tune" with your machine and skills while throwing just enough in there to keep it fun and safe (slipper clutch and ABS) Will it hit insane highway speeds? Nope...but Iven got mine to 100mph which was enough to give me a sense of what a sport bike missile life is like. Can it go full on adventure off road like an ADV/Supermoto/dualsport? Nope...but I've hit some dirt trails and half the parking lots where I live are gravel and I laugh at the guys on sport bikes and harleys too afraid and heavy to even pull in! Which gave me a taste of what the ADV/supers/duals offer! Yall get the point ^.^

    I bought a WR250R to test the waters. It came with the original setup plus a SuperMoto setup, tools, battery tender, floor jack, etc. Then I’ve dropped about an additional $3000-3500 in mods. All in I’m around 9k.
    It’s a solid keeper. Ok at everything, excels at quite a bit, more trustworthy than Tonto, surprisingly up to it off road, but it lacks the thrill factor. This thing will not scratch the itch but if Armageddon hits this is the bike you want in your stable.

    Scrambler for more style. Dualsport for more offroad capability. Supermoto for more cart tracks.
    I'm 5'8"/30" inseam. I have 2 Suzuki DR650s and a Benelli Leoncino 500 Trail. All are on DOT knobbies/semi-knobbies.
    I'm also shopping for a Triumph 900 Scrambler soon, and plan suspension/power/weight-shaving mods for it.
    The main differences between scramblers and dualsports that I notice in riding are travel, clearance, weight, weight-bias, and power. Dualsports generally handle technical terrain easier under a mortal.
    Dualsports like my DRs CAN be biased more towards pavement than stock, and scramblers can be biased more towards dirt than stock. Their tendencies generally remain though.
    Both types of motos are some of the most fun you can have and still keep your license...without doing track days. Any of my motos could cross half of the USA in a day. DRs might be a little easier though, simply because Safari offers a HUMUNGOUS fueltank for the Mighty DR.

    Are the service intervals slot shorter on the wr450f B's the wr250r. 16,000 vs whatever the wr450f is? Will I have to constantly rebuild? Or the yz you have now. I am leaning towards the Honda Grom but feel like I'll get tired of it really quick but like power. Any help would be great.

    As someone who has ridden Dual Sports on the street plenty of times, the braking performance kind of sucks too. Another downside to them. But yeah they are light and fun to ride, the torque is awesome. Narrow seats aren't the most comfortable for anything more than 30-40 minutes of sitting.

    • @Gofr5
      @Gofr5 10 месяцев назад +1

      100%. I love my 701 SM, but I cannot stand the seat on it, and I already have a seat concepts comfort seat on it. I just need something better for my rear. It's why I'm looking at mid weight and maybe some large ADVs. My butt won't die, I can do some touring, and I can still do the very light gravel road offroading on those bikes that I do now. I only wish I could afford to have more than one bike at a time.

  • @robbyclark6915
    @robbyclark6915 10 месяцев назад

    Well, someone like myself isn’t the slightest bit interested in riding up staircases or through the woods with no roads or anything. I’m far more interested in staying on the pavement and taking the occasional dirt road trip and that’s as adventurous as I care to get. So a Scrambler checks the boxes far better than a dual sport and SMs have taller seat heights and are typically not as good a road bike as well. But what it really boils down to for me is STYLE. I love the looks of a cool scrambler bike and I don’t care much at all for either of the other two options.

    I dont even know what the difference between dual sports and super moto is. Im a noob, this is my first season, Im old and Im starting on a125 because everything else was stressing me out. I love adventure bikes but I have to admit I am not the adventure guy at all, I think I just love the idea of it, if that makes sense? I hope I will be able to do a license for a bigger cc bike once i feel more comfortable. Anyway, liked the video and understood the difference between 17" and 21" tires, so thats cool. Prolly will go for a scrambler type bike (is the yamaha xsr considered a scrambler?). Have a great day!

    • @EagerMartialArts-cl7vd

      Suoermoto basically is a dirt bike with street tires.
      Dual sports are neutered kinda crappy dirt bikes with a headlight and blinkers to be street legal.
      There is overlap.
      A scrambler nowadays is pretty much just looks. Yes you can ride em on very light trails but you can ride any motorcycle on those technically.
      I like the looks of scramblers and would get one to ride on the street just to look cool.

    Honda is now importing the newly redesigned transalp into the USA again after decades. It’s not the greatest color option they force USA buyers to get but the engine and frame are so much better than the old model that was continually imported and sold overseas in Europe and other places. If you want something great on road even for light touring but do some off road I think that would be a better buy than any Scrambler. Higher clearance. A proper 21 front tire to go over obstacles without breaking your color bone trying to use 17” tires and glide over gigantic street potholes that would send any tiny 17” wheel street bike into wobbling fits. 😂 And you can subdue the power to a 250 lol. In Europe they have license restrictions and you can get a map for transalp to reduce its power output from full 100% balls to the wall to “A2” license restricted power mode. And you’ll pay only $1000 more than cyclecruza YZ but get a full 755cc modern engine. 😅 and since it already comes with ADV tires you don’t have to buy rims or new tires so that probably makes it slightly less than the YZ all up but you’ll be tourer/adv verus supermoto. But a new color dash and rider modes up the ying yang over the YZ and no changing oil out every week 🎉

      @@CycleCruza Your a good man Cyclecruza. I suffered a motorcycle accident last May and now my parents won't let me get a motorcycle until I'm moved out on my own because they don't want to go through the pain and stress again, which I understand. I want a supermoto man. I had a Honda Navi, then a Kawasaki Ninja 400. Good times man..good times.

    Scramblers were invented half way through last century before dual sport motorcycles were a thing in the market. That’s why Scramblers are still a thing. Not because there were better but because they are the grandfather to modern dual sport motorcycles. But why have a scrambler today. Scrambler was taking a street motorcycle and removing all the parts and modifying it so it can go off road as well as on road back when that was the only option available to a rider.

  • @TamaHawkLive
    @TamaHawkLive 10 месяцев назад

    I personally would get a scrambler over a supermoto just for the comfort and real utility. Unless you're wanting to do real mud trails and rock climbing, for basic on and light off road applications a scrambler would be better, but a supermoto definitely wins in the tire department if you catch a flat and have to field change one.

      He runs Shinko 705 tires I believe. There are some other options available too. Michelin Anakee Adventure, Pirelli MT 60 RS Sport Corsa, Continental TKC 70 Adventure. There may be a couple others, but those 3 plus the Shinkos are the only ones I'd be looking at for my 701 SM. Personally, I'd pick the Pirellis or Michelins. The Shinkos are good value too though.

    It’s cool if you never sell the SM but can you take down my info so that you can at least holler at me first when/if you ever do? Please??? There’s literally no downside unless you just don’t want to do it the I guess lmk but worst case scenario something has changed and I can’t buy atm, but ideally you get to sell your bike seconds after deciding to do so lol

    90% of "adventure" riders spend the most time on forest roads and unpaved rural roads - NOT demanding trails. Scramblers are the perfect "gravel" bikes! In addition, 90% of ADV riders should be taking the "bypass" on the worst trails anyway - since they are WAY beyond their skills, especially on overpowered and overweight adventure models. Super-Motos are better for taking a beating! The only small SM left is the KLX300SM.

    I feel like current scramblers are just there to appeal to the hipsters who like that 70's stylings but with modern reliability, they're pretty terrible at off-road and way too heavy. If you wanna go off road, you need tall suspension, high ground clearance and a light weight motorcycle.

    • @CycleCruza

      💯👍 You hit the nail on the head. Its more about looks than function with a scrambler.

    • @michaelbrinks8089

      A true scrambler is more than just a looks only bike...It's for someone who mostly rides street but also wants some off road capabilites. Like to be able to go down rough gravel/dirt country roads & light off road when needed.
      Scrambler = 75% street 25% off road
      Supermoto = 50% street/ 50% dirt
      A sportbike, cruiser, chopper is going to suck if you live down a gravel country road.
      A supermoto will do rough gravel country roads better than scrambler but the scrambler will be better suited for long 75mph rides on interstate.
