@@ministereliondelatribudeju628 There's no reason for an agency to be famous. All that matters is that they do their job, which is to help get you opportunities and negotiate contracts.
Definitely, for the actors but there's a lot of other people involved in making a movie and the duty of hiring those people would usually either go to the UPM (unit production manager) or the producer who hired the UPM. And the UPM might discuss hiring decisions with the director and/or producers.
Hit the nail on the Head AGAIN! as a budding new CD. I have experienced all you have talked about when casting for feature films, proof of concepts and commercials. It's great when people understand the process and how many other factors going on behind the scenes and why actors should always bring their "A" game right off the bat. And I keep folks in mind who may not have booked the role but came close! I tend to watch for them to submit for other projects.
Hey Kurt. I just got booked on my first SAG speaking role. I never got a call back from my FIRST EVER (Zoom) audition and almost a month later I got an urgent availability check. Two days later I received an offer to play a different but similar role that had the same number of filming dates!.. I'm super excited and owe you a lot of credit!
@Madison Eklund yes proffecianal headshots are a most considering it shows u are serious for it an a agent or talent manager u need to have if u want those main roles ect yes they get paid a pecentage of what u make for that production
Wow, I do remember seeing you in "Cobra Kai" long before I came across your fantastic RUclips channel. You give very helpful insight & advice about the acting industry because I am currently fighting to break in and be a part of great storytelling in film.
Hi, I just had a few questions: 1). If the main character of a project is being cast through a public audition, how likely is it that other important roles in the show or movie be casted through this process as well? 2) How does the selection process work for a self tape and how does a callback work in those conditions? 3) If u are a teen actor, does a casting team contact you through your parents contacts or through your personal phone and such?
Thanks for this behind the scenes video! I always wondered how much actually went into the casting and I knew only a very little bit, so it was great the understand it :)
Hey, Kurt. Thanks for this detailed breakdown of how the casting process works. I took notes and will be working on my self tapes and audition techniques. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video
I've always felt that it's best to let the agent find you than to seek one out. You'll actually get a better agent; one that's better suited to your career path if you let the agent find you. Once you're on the casting sites all of the agencies can see you; look over your profile; headshots; resume, see what acting schools you went to and each agency usually has it's own specific criteria that they're looking for. They might be looking mostly for kids and teens or mostly ethnic actors or comedic actors; some of them love veterans and are always trying to add military veterans to their rosters or people that have a background in martial arts; weapons handling etc. If you put all of that stuff on your casting site profile the right agent will find you. Otherwise it can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack, having that profile completely filled out is like having a super powerful magnet.
@@neytiri.is.my.favoriteU 2 better keep me updated 😭, I’m also trying to get into a movie, I was gonna be in a Disney show one time I don’t rly remember what it was but I didn’t get accepted sadly lol, lmk if any of y’all get in

This really helped!! Thank you so much for putting effort in trying to help the fans trying to accomplish their dreams. Btw I think your role in cobra kai is really cool and well played!
That's not always an option. Sometimes you will be called in to audition in person but normally you get your two minutes in front of the casting director then you're out and the next actor comes in but sometimes they'll audition five or more at a time in order to see how each actor "works off" the other actors rather than in isolation.
@@hadialsayed2992 Before the audition you're usually given "sides" which is just a few pages from the script. It might be five pages worth of dialogue that you have to memorize before you get to the audition and SOMETIMES they give you nothing until you arrive for the audition, where they hand you two or three pages and only give you five minutes to go over it before you go in front of the casting director. And when you do go in front of the casting director it's not enough that you just memorized the lines and can recite them - you have to be able to bring that character to life in a way that SEEMS like you're just making the words up as you speak.
Same here, but you have to work with what you got my friend, thats what im doing in the Bahamas... but when you move you will have built up your amazing skills and be glad you you did it. ✊🏼👍🏼
Small indie films often use a combination of a casting director and an open call, in my experience. I'd suggest actors network and keep their eyes open. I will tell you an actor with a poor headshot or worse, no headshot is at a real disadvantage. Include a resume, please. I also like a video audition.

When the producers select the actor they want, is that typically when the actor receives a check avail / placed on hold? Btw I love your channel, keep up the great work!
One thing I do like about this industry is there's lots of different caveats to it. Example, I'm doing improv and I'm working on a job at a local theatre. Not an onstage job but still it's a thing. Much like this life, you won't always be center stage. To learn the different aspects is good. To enjoy what your part was is good. Without the idea that you were lesser without doing that.
