I helped install cameras in the mint and museum in 1976 basically my first job after high school. I got up the attic and nooks and crannies.

Well produced, and very informative video. I have a nice 1883 CC GSA Morgan in my collection. Great little piece of history!

its crazy to think at one point those seated CC morgans were once literally worth 1 doller. but when you do the math 1 USD in 1866 is equal to 19.16 today according to inflation.

    Why Grover Cleveland was anti-silver?

    • @goober208

      He was invested in lead

He was anti-silver because of all the silver found at Mt. Davidson. There was so much of it, it brought the price way down. The government was basically forced to buy it and coined it into Morgan silver dollars which were not needed at that time.

Grover Cleveland is the reason labor day exists. He sent 100's of US military troops to bust up a railroad worker protest about unsafe and unfair working conditions. 12 of those men died. Other state's officials and parts of the government strongly disagreed with the presidents actions. Grovers party pretty much turned against him, and the government gave Americans labor day as an olive branch for what happened.

Nearly as much value was struck in gold as in silver.
