Man, that guy (at 2:00) sure was lucky the medic was able to drag him behind a bulletproof bush. Too bad the medic can only perform so many miracles and he died anyway. Lol.
This show ran 2 years longer then US was actually in WW2. Watching all these episodes its like the war never progresses Didn't notice the medic was Robert Duval until the daytime shot where he speaks to the German guards riding the bikes
Glad to see Hanley got his old helmet back, it's more practical being less reflective & lets him blend in with his squad more so he doesn't get pegged as an officer by Germans.
Medics aren't supposed to engage the enemy unless they're protecting themselves or their patient. They're supposed to stay out of the fight until they're needed. In several episodes, Doc lamented the fact that he wasn't allowed to fight.
Combat! -"Cry for Help!" S05E14 - [1967] This is a very incredible and Beautiful story about Combat infantry Doctors. Actor: Robert Duvall plays a German Medic named Housman and does a pretty good job being a Doctor and Medic. The writing in this Episode is Tops. Somebody must of had a love for Doctors. Doctors are Special people and I believe the Lord God sends Surgeons to this Earth to help Stupid people who shoot at each other and have no respect for the living. Do we have to Kill each other to prove a point or Win a War? Doc and Housman share the Human need and calling of a Doctor. The last 5 minutes of this Episode is classic. I give this Episode 5 Stars *****...God Bless all Doctors and whatever Uniform they wear to help Humanity. Glenn E. Smith Jr. , Vietnam Veteran, 0427/2015, Monday
Even Hippokrates had been a Military Doctor. He became one after the Athenian Military had drafted him for field duty in the Peleponnesian War ( 431-404 BC ) No wonder he had created the special Oath formel for Doctors in this way. Only one knowing the hardships of War could had made up those lines. A shame Horst Buchholz was not around in the States Already in 59 he had played in American productions. Such a role as the Doctor had been up his line and back in those days COMBAT ! was done he had the right age for it. After all, here we have the usual problem that most actors are in fact to old for the figures they were playing. THE END SCENE with the bycicle riding patrol. the leader had a clear Austrian accent.
@7:52 That is about the third or fourth time that the LT has picked off a German on the run in the last two episodes. He can't shoot them when they are standing still but he sure can shoot them on the run.
Critics maybe that's his expertise! It's just a show the word is " entertainment!" do you know what that means? I hope so cause you need to do something else instead of being a expert critic.
Robert Duvall in this & he wasn't listed as the guest star in the opening credits? He was that German booby trap dude in an older black & white season & he was mentioned as the guest star in that, strange.
Morrow and Jason had a contract clause that split the opening credits exactly in half. There were 152 episodes. Also the episodes themselves were split in half for a Morrow specific show and a Jason specific show.
We use to have this guy in the company like little John we would be in the bush for a mouth & we were all dirty, tired and all he would do was complain
@9:52 "Es tut mir leid" translated I'm sorry. No matter what side of the war, it was hard to leave someone you knew just lying on the ground and knowing you tried but couldn't do anything to help. Yes the Germans had a lot of inhumane people, the Nazi SS for one, but they also had had a lot of human beings out there fighting as well.
It's always the same battle sequence. Germans in a line behind another log, machine gun that only hits the first guy in the fight, Germans don't protect flank, Americans move on the flank, Americans behind logs that can't be penetrated by machine gun, machine gun nest blown up by perfectly thrown grenades. At least this time no Germans stood up to shoot or ran directly into line of fire.
Seems like every Kraut patrol they run into has a machine gun. And yet they can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn. (yes, I know this is a scripted show. But lets have a touch of reality every now and then). I guess 600 rounds per minute is not fast enough for them. It must be the fear generated by Kirby and Saunders with their thousand round magazines.
If I were lt Hanley or Saunders, I would have a collection of German machine guns and a stockpile of ammo since they have defeated about a hundred machine guns by this time. In fact, I would start carrying a machine gun or two or three just to make things even. But alas, Ther is always Kirby and Saunders shoot continually from the waist dead on accuracy so I guess they don't need a machine gun. Just kidding y'all. I really like the show but it has to be said.
If you want to see an unlimited budget with loads of actual WWII surplus equipment used, search RUclips for the trailer of Tank Brigade, a 52-55 Czech movie about the Russians fighting the Germans. Awesome stuff. Check out the real Tigers and an MG-44 firing.
Depends on what part of the chest. If it was a sucking chest wound you'd be right. We had guys take incoming in the chest area & if it was't into the lung area or hit a major blood vessel quite a few kept on until Dustoff could come in.
What was the Littlejohn character all about? Not even comic relief value despite looking and sounding like the Jolly Green Giant. Would have been tempted to administer some in house friendly fire if I had been in his platoon. Combat quality sure suffers when Vic has gone off to play the tables at Vegas during his RnR time.
First time I have seen Robert Duvall on the screen without a credit.

O melhor episódio da série.

Chest wound and walking? That’s even tough to do with high dose morphine. I keep forgetting it’s tv. Very well done. It feels real.
Kirby was the best BAR man in the US Army.
Hes the only one who could get 30 shots out of an 20rd magazine. Lol
I love Hanley's carbine he used because it was light. Best served for squirrel hunting
This is called entertainment dick,. not reality watch the History Channel if you want real let
Robert Duvall in this one. thanks for posting!

War has been around a lot longer than doctors, goofball. You sound like a woman

I think that episode 14 would have been filmed around the end of the year. Maybe Vic Morrow was taking some time off for the holidays.
got to love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
英語の意味があまり理解できないのですが、素晴らしい内容だとおもいます。
Kinda wish I had an old black an white tv, would like to have rewatched season 5 with out color. Wouldn't that be different.
Yehh series like this should be in black and white because at night the woods or jungle in pitch dark it looks better and would look more realistic
Great episode,Hey Little John needs Smith bros cough drops, ☺🙄Ammo refill.
This is the episode where the Robert Duvall character creates the "Houseman Manuever". Well kind of.
Duvall was actually in three episodes of Combat. BTW, Duvall is 90 years old. Still hanging in there.
Meu 👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🤣🤣🤣🤣

I imagine that there were more than a few dead squirrels left after that .30 caliber stopped them from stealing tree nuts.
grabit1 - There's just that possibility he was.

Elsbeth, I wonder if wildcat has ever been to Hill 256.
Always search them, always.
JUST NOT! The SAME WITHOUT SGT. SAUNDERS!

Dont believe the hype about the Nazis, the allies did far worse war crimes
Sera verdad que los soldados americanos son tan buenos

They could have made a movie of it yet that was not the policy of the 60`s. Tv had to be promoted at that period of time

The German vs. American casualty rate was at at least 10 to 1. Does not seem very realistic.
Why did they even take doc along? All he did was put a bandage on a wound. Should have a machine gun team instead. Oh yea...I liked docs wisdom.

Yo!....excuse me, but if a guys got a chest wound how in the hell can he be walking around?....he'd be to busy bleeding to death.

+Ken Garrett He was "the big guy." He just sort of stuck around I guess. And since his actor was willing to continue appearing they didn't say no.
well aren't you just sweet and nice. what are YOU here for?
Color ruined this show, black and white ruled
