I always appreciate a real tonal demonstration by Quentin and not just the usual thrashing on chords like most guitar reviews
I realized how I differentiate instruments demonstrated on this channel: I listen to Quinton and Paul talk. The room is the same, the microphone positioned largely the same, and Quinton's playing creates good variety to understand the acoustic instruments demonstrated here. There are ways to create a context to figure out how an instrument sounds and talking is one way to do so. I feel this is one of the best channels to hear an instrument.
This Eastman is quite nice and should make most guitarists pleased they made the purchase.
One thing they should factor in. When you play in a room with other guitars hanging on the wall the sound goes into those boxes and resonates. Especially when the one in your lap is in front of a microphone. You really have no idea what you will hear at home. These demos are only good to a point.
@@markrobinson891 Good point; you're right. I've noticed this too when I play acoustic guitars in a room full of other acoustic guitars. That said, I've become relatively good at hearing an instrument's tone in a context like this. Now, does the instrument vibrate through its body? What does it feel like? Those are among some considerations for me that go into deciding whether an instrument is worth purchasing. Another, albeit vicarious, consideration is Quinton's reaction.
Considering that even the most consistently built solid-wood guitars don't sound exactly the same, I only comment on the instruments I've played or heard in any respectively posted video here. Ultimately, for me, I would have to play an instrument before I purchase it unless I place an order for one in which case I'm hoping that it turns out the way I hope.
Since I am nowhere near Bozeman, MT, the likelihood of me playing a specific instrument demonstrated in these videos is low. Still, I enjoy these videos a whole lot.
@@uvp5000 Same here to all the above. I recently heard Joe Bonamossa say the more he plays a guitar, the more it sounds like him. In other words, the artists make a guitar sound good. Hence kudos to Quinton. He’s got a sound all his own. He picks the right licks to bring out the best in each guitar.
Hi very nice eastman e3de sound is just as good as a taylor or martin 2000euro at half the price
It sounds great and the Ovankol looks gorgeous!
Great voicing of the guitar, Quinton! Thanks, Paul and Quinton.
Another fun and informative episode of the Paul & Quinton Show. Eastmans are truly great guitars. I have an AC508CE and a AC822ce Koa LTD; anything similar by Taylor or Martin would be two to three times the price. While their price make them practical, it also makes them one of the best deals in the guitar making industry.
Thanks again!
Excellent. Now you're talkin'!
I really like the open pore matte finish on this model. It must be cheaper to produce than the gloss nitro, but it is so thin, it really let's the wood ring through.
Eastman a byword for QUALITY AND AFFORDABILITY.😎😎😎
Eastman make great guitars. Eight years ago I bought my first acoustic. I really wanted my dream guitar. At that time this was a Gibson J-45. I went home with the J-45. I bought it with my heart, but my ears told me to buy one of the Eastman guitars, which was 66% of the price of the J-45. I don't regret the decision I made, but when I need a great back-up guitar, or just something else to enjoy myself with, like a parlor sized couch guitar, I would definitely look at Eastman.
I love how Quentin demonstrates the guitars
$930 across the border here in Saskatchewan Canada. That sounds great man!
I appreciate these videos. You have given examples of guitars I would have never seen. And I have learned a great deal.
One of these days I will get up there from Arizona and hopefully buy from your shop.
Thank you
I thought Yamaha was the best bang for the buck..... than I played a Eastman, wow 😯
Would be a nice compare between this E3D and the Taylor AD17 .... they were similar prices not long ago, but the Taylor is more expensive now. I have the AD17, paid like $ 900 US...
Sounds great. Very open. Interesting hollow tone to it. Great flat picker there. The second demo shows its limits. The opening sound was impressive. The later bits you can tell it lacks real dynamics. But he had the body moving a lot more. N itd be a great busker guitar.
CAN YOU GUYS DO THIS GUITAR VS MARTIN D10E. IM TRYING TO DECIDE
Lovely guitar 😍
Nice one Quentin.
Looks a good dread. I was interested in their SJ200-type jumbo, sounds and looks fantastic
Solid looking guitar
Looks like its gonna be between Eastman E3De and the Alvarez Md60BG or the Recording King Rd28 for me to decide. I really like the unbound fretboards though
Ebony fingerboard always a huge plus.
Did Quentin ever buy this Eastman e3de for his camping guitar
You guys have a Recording King on the wall in the background but you never demo Recording King guitars on this RUclips channel? Why?
I own this guitar and really like it. But my one is a bit smaller than my other Eastman dreads in both depth and width. I did a video on my channel called Eastman Shrinkflation about this. I would be interested to know if mine is an exception or have Eastman made all the E3DEs that bit smaller, maybe to go along with the pickup? To play mine back to back with my E10D it does sound a bit more delicate with less size and bass overall.
Let’s see some other very popular brands like some pro series Takamine! So many musicians plays them do let’s see.
They are a great guitar maker. Right there with Recording King. Great video. I'll have to check out that model now.
Only that Eastman HANDCrafts the guitars with individual luthiers and the factory is without noise, a thing made by hand, hard to find these days ... the machines make a good job to multiply a product but an acoustic guitar is more than a product, should be an art creation ... so, really appreciate Eastman and love my E1D, didn't understand the hype about Eastman until I've got one...
@@77guitarts22
Yep, they are very nice guitars. Recording King also makes their guitars like Eastman does, the Chinese made guitars, I would definitely be happy with an Eastman too. The one and only one thing I don't like about the Recording King is the neck shape.
Only someone with more money than sense would take an 800 dollar guitar made of solid woods camping or talk about it nearly every video. for some of us an 800 dollar guitar is a very big expense.
Spot on, my friend!!!! There guitar guys seem to lose all sense of reality.
Agreed...!
Good for fingerpicking?
Whoa dude. $800 is a lot for some. I assure you for many losing an 800 instrument would be devastating just like the 2k - 3k one
Quentin has a great playing style.
Can't do China...where possible, I limit those buys. But that is a solid price for that guitar.
China has no need to spend resources on an armed conflict in order to take over the world. They’re doing just fine as is. But this is about guitars. Yamaha’s very nice “Red Label” are made in both China & Japan. The Japanese are better and they’re not evil dictators. But this is about guitars…
You're both wrong, China actually is going to pick up where we left off in Afghanistan, they are also committing genocide of the Ugar population, also Japan exploits their population too. All capitalist countries are bad AND so is the US imperial forces. But in the end its a guitar and Eastman makes fine instruments whether or not u consume them or Martin is arbitrary and just capitalism(which is exploitative) no mattar what.
@@angelg8445 Once again, it’s about guitars. But then how can any conversation, movie, comedian…infinity not be politicized? Sorry to go down that rabbit hole when…it’s about guitars.
@@markrobinson891 Some folks believe one country is the good guy. It's global now...I don't like it either but this world is banker owned. Enjoy playing I say! Cheers
@@hr2186 “You’ll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others, Potter. You don’t want to go making friends with the wrong sort…”
Can you make review of Furch Vintage D3?
That's not a cannon...it's nuclear!
The top is Sitka Spruce, not Adirondack.
Thanks for the clarification 3CM - Adirondack didn't quite compute given the price! I was thinking I should be able to notice Adirondack vs Sitka, but never been too confident in distinguishing woods just by listening - perhaps this should be the subject of a comparison, i.e. "guess the top wood" (presuming we can find instruments were this is the primary variable) . . .
So did you buy it!?
@@acousticaddiction7719 - so I went back to the store to play it a bit more, and I was seriously considering just walking out with it as a camping guitar- but I decided to sleep on the idea a little longer - then we had the long holiday weekend, and the evenings turned so cold that it appeared our Montana campfire playing season was coming to an early close. If it warms up, I might very well head back to the Villa for this one :)
Quinton, thanks for the reply. I could tell you really liked it is why I asked. I’ve almost pulled the trigger on this model but haven’t brought myself to do it yet.
I still have a Mitchell dreadnought cutaway at 425 dollars that lasted a year before becoming unplayable and the D string tuner key broke off.. it's sitting against my grandmother's old wooden trunk, which by the way looks great, but won't play a tune either..
I was curious when i bought it, how long a cheap, er i mean inexpensive guitar would last.. A year. I might make a hot rod out of it..
the next step was larger.. i bought a Mexican Taylor 214 ce DLX in December of 2019, making it a pre-Wu guitar, lol..
Happy Camper.
Lol all of my guitars are 'insurance guitars'.
It demonstrated it's "dread-cred".
I could hear m6 GPC ovangkol with built in reverb…I am split bet this y 00018 y00015 sm
Nice guitar, I absolutely hate tortious binding though, its hideous
Taste is totally subjective. I love the dark color binding vs contrast light colored materials. D-18 looks better to my eye than the 28. There ya go.
Don't buy it then.
Tortoise binding is my absolute favourite 😅
I'm not a big fan of Eastman but I definitely like that dreadnaught! That sounded pretty good. Great tone!
No fan of Eastman? Acoustic or electric? I have two acoustic Eastmans, and they are great! Hand build, great sound, nice woods, what's there not to like?
It's the China thing huh...?
JUST GOT ONE OFF AMAZON FOR $325.
I would say quality more like "Martin"
You strike this guitar way too hard dude!
Nice demo guys, I just dont buy Chinese
Over and over when I see these Music Villa reviews Paul never seems to know the exact specs of the instruments. How is that possible? How about do your homework and then fire up the camera?
Agreed...!!
