Someone said to me once that a lot of bands put out their best first album because they had 20 years to write it. Then they get a year or two, while on tour, to write the second. Not so with Band-Maid, they improve every album.
Many Band-Maid tracks are very busy and it is hard to follow who is doing what during the track. Some editions of their releases have an additional DVD that contains their so called 'white room' tracks. These videos are set in a white room and they are instrumental versions of some of the songs on the release. Each song has 5 different versions: one focuses on each individual member and captures every note they play and the 5th jumps between the band members. I have found these tracks indispensable for seeing exactly what each member is doing, especially MISA.
The instrumental version of Giovanni is mind bending because it brings all the instrumental playing forward without the vocals and you realize that Kanami is a mad genius in her composition and playing skills (think a petite, Japanese Oscar Petersen for composing detail, when you see the score for this album, the guitar part has every one of those bazillion notes in this song). Even if you aren't reacting to it, have a watch of the white room instrumental, for the sheer amazement value.
Instrumental Maid Channel is legit. Fan based collection of Band Maid content. “Giovanni” absolutely hits different in the “white room” version. Kanami seems to write all these songs as instrumentals and Miku somehow adds lyrics to most.
Bandmaid writes almost all of their music after 2017 album Just Bring it. Kanami the main guitarlist start song writing and all member contributes to finish songs together.
This is another of Band-Maid's "OMG, there's a lot going on here" songs. They did release a set of 'White Room' instrumental videos for "Giovanni" with 4 'individual focus' videos to compliment the group video. Kanami has the desire to teach as well as entertain, and to do that Band-Maid releases their 'White Room' videos where you can watch each musician play their individual parts. Band-Maid has also published tab books and scores, often in limited collector editions for their albums. When Miku Kobato says that Band-Maid's goal is World Domination, it can be difficult for the average music fan to grasp just how serious these ladies take their pursuit of that goal. Particularly Kanami Töno, who seems to work 24/7 writing, composing, arranging, and practicing, barely taking breaks to eat and sleep. They have embraced the Punk Rock DIY ethic and they really are doing it all and making it work.
I believe I heard that Kanami was largely influenced by Chopin (she grew up playing classical piano). I don’t know what to make of it, but maybe that’s a useful thing for you to know.
Great reaction and when first listening to the album "Unseen World", it hits you with an explosion of music of different genres. From song to song, each one different and all unusually and engaging. Then you get to the end of the album and of the last three songs, "Giovanni" leads off with a feeling that you're staring into the abyss and not sure what's happening. Then "Ambition" sets you up for the final song as it grabs you with the inescapable gravity of the "Black Hole" and you're squashed. Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid.
If you something even more mind-bending (at least IMHO) try the live version of Manners/Black Hole (2 very different songs). As far I am concerned Black Hole is a masterpiece.
Comparing Band-Maid to Animals as Leaders! That's awesome! I think that double-bass pattern may be unique, because what other band gets to be hard like this and poppy at the same time? No band of guys has the guts to risk their "cool" rep on doing something like this (Electric Callboy sorta does this, but much more simple stuff, and they're not serious at all). And of the girl bands, only Band-Maid does this combination of hard rock and proggy stuff.
If you want a Band-Maid song out of their 150 so far to maybe, possibly have some valid criticism, imo, it would be their Collab with Tony Visconti, "The Dragon Cries." Otherwise, the other 149 are 9s or 10s.
Here is a suggestion: Compare PUZZLE - both of these are live! Acoustic version - ruclips.net/video/ayJtzPkgZTc/видео.html - Rock version - ruclips.net/video/zvuqmSQEnaA/видео.html There aren't any bad songs from BAND MAID. They are just different, something for everyone.
I believe the word is "frenetic." It's a simple lead guitar counter melody... if you slowed it down. Kanami apparently abhors the very opportunity for her to get bored on stage, and so insists on playing it at light speed. If I'm 100% honest, I think Kanami's ambition got the better of things a little bit on this one, but I gotta respect the work ethic.

So TRUE! In some parts, it looks like they sped up the vid. Of course they didn't, she's just that fast!
Life is so much BETTER with BAND-MAID!
🤘😝🤘
As a slow-brained non-musician, I had to listen to Giovanni quite a few times before I started to make sense of it, but now I love it!
The Maids are always on top of their game! 🍺😁🤘🏻🕊️

You really need to check out the instrumental version, it's like a whole new song! Instrumental Maid has some good stuff and seems legit.

That fast guitar part comes to the front on the instrumental version. Both are killer prog rock awesome.
To hear stripped-down BAND-MAID, try the acoustic version of SAYONAKIDORI, from their 2021 Christmas concert. This song is all light and love.

The "white room" instrumental version of "Giovanni" on the Instrumental Maid RUclips channel is the best way to view the Maids playing it.

You should see this LIVE! Every bit as great as the album version!!

White room instrumental ❤
Nice analysis, E-Law!
Check out the OMV for “From Now On.” Brilliant Band-Maid instrumental!
Hello from Dallas! And keep on rocking!
Finger exercises Band Maid style.
Hehe. But listen to them live.
There is also an instrumental version of the song... It will blow your mind. :)

Live is more better than this!

That’s just incredible consistency. Dang.
@E-LawReacts That's Band-Maid...
Good stuff
🤘🤘🤘💙💙💙

😜🦍🎸🔥🔥🔥
new song の Toi et moiをきいてください。
It seems that I didn't say it in vain: Akane Hirose is one of the best drummers in the world. :)
Nothing these ladies do is ever half way, its always 110%, i dont believe the phrase "that should be good enough" is even in their vocabulary

You stopped too many times. If you want to compare playing to other bands wait till the end.
Wait till he finds H-G-K. Another one of the ultra fast/busy songs that makes you really wonder WTH is going on.
