@@Smbizmd Notice how they very quickly removed the brake and launch track a couple months ago, but are still yet to touch the top hat at all? It’s staying, at least in some capacity.
I actually preferred the smaller hydraulic launch of Stealth to this - Red Force didn't quite have that completely overwhelming, take-your-breath-away launch that the hydraulics give you. It was also a bit shaky on the launch (not painful, but distracting), and the extra height wasn't all that noticeable, strangely.
Glad you enjoyed Red Force, personally it's easily in my top 5. I don't think my breath has ever been taken away like that on a coaster before riding this. Frustratingly I only managed rides on rows 2 and 5 however even those were incredible. Best part was that the LSMs could be heard from our hotel in Salou, and I was awoken by it rollback testing at 7am!
The original rendering also showed Intamin over the shoulder restraints and 5 car trains with the first and last car seating 2 riders. However, a later rendering showed 3 car trains.
While I will certainly miss Hydraulic launches, LSM launches are still thrilling and are very reliable. I wish that hydraulic launches were more reliable than they are, but nothing lasts forever.
I like this ride, but it didn’t make my top 50 steel coasters. The launch is one of the best magnetic launches, but can’t compare to the intensity of hydraulic or air launches. There’s also some unexpected shakiness. The restraints are fairly comfortable, but the trains seem much bulkier than Top Thrill Dragster, with no stadium seating, limiting visibility and making you feel more enclosed. The views and airtime at the top of the tower are both great. The ride is too short, and the brake run is really oddly configured. Overall an impressive coaster for the European audience.
@@ken.f.c.1977 Yes - sorry, I think maybe there's a misunderstanding? This is a very unique ride for Europe, it's more than a 100 feet taller than the next tallest European coaster. Most visitors to Port Aventura have never seen anything like this, whereas the US has several coasters like this (Kingda Ka, formerly Top Thrill Dragster, SFMM Superman), and many coasters over 300 feet (I-305, Fury 325, Millennium Force). So for a European audience Red Force is great. In the US it wouldn't stand out much.
I rode this yesterday. It was awesome. The launch is an out of body experience and the whole ride from start to finish gets your heart pounding like no other coaster could. I went in expecting this to be the best coaster at PortAventura Resort and it met those expectations.
If Cedar Point does switch the hydraulic launch on Top Thrill Dragster with the same LSM system found on this ride, do you think Six Flags Great Adventure might one day do the same thing to Kingda Ka afterwards?
PortAventura + Ferrari Land very much had a "home park" feeling, I went in mid-June 2022 and nearly everyone there was either a school or a teen who was a local, so there was loads of queue-skipping. Red Force's single rider line was a good example of this. Yes, it is supposed to be at the end you jump in it, but people just walk around the edge which tbf, I can see why, that line is a joke of a layout. Anyways, ride go fast, I smile, I queue for the rest of the day. Subbed!!
Hopefully, this is the start of the LSM revolution. As an Australian, I was sorely disappointed by Steel Taipan's launch (it is Mack, however) but I loved Superman Escape's launch. Imagine the history of Intamin launched roller coasters in the world. In 2003 and 2005, two similar strata coasters were built, Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point and Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure. Fun fact, Red Force has the highest AVERAGE speed of any coaster in the world. Between the start of the launch and the start of the brake it runs at a whopping 144.7 feet per second average.
2 1/2-hour wait during my visit. I hate this park’s operations so much. That said, Red Force was a lot better than I expected. I liked it even more than Ka or TTD - not because of the launch but because of the airtime over the tophat and down the drop.
It's not quite fair for people to say coasters like this are a one trick poney: they have the biggest drops in the world and this one is straight, unlike TTD which is down and KK; (the latter of which is trimmed on the top, crapping on its record breaking drop) and so rough it actually is a one trick pony imo. But Red Force looks like it has an elite drop of about 338' with nothing more than a 90 degree left turn after it gets vertical and stays that way until it must pull out if the dive. It's drop might not be as good as a Giga, the staggered seating B&M hypers, Skyrush or El Toro, but it's better than any strata. Between TTD KK and Red Force: I'd say a front row ride is most important on KK since KK sucks unless one is in the front car.
