That's a common occurrence. They time the coasters so they intersect in the lift hills. Because of this, on about half of the elements the trains will race each other.
I’m so lucky to have PA as my hometown theme park. My first ever invert coaster was Dragon Khan, not bad at all to start with. I totally agree about the park’s operations and the food. I hope they get better. Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!!
I'll be watching this on repeat until I get here in August. I'll only have one day here and I'm also bummed that the last train back to Barcelona leaves an hour before close, but I think the 12 hours that I'll be spending here will be enough to have a fulfilling experience.
I absolutely adore this park and have done many day trips here from northwest England as it's comparable in price to a visit to a southern UK park sometimes even cheaper
Reus airport is about 15 minutes away. It is small airport but a lot of UK airports fly to it. Might be useful to some particularly in 2024 when people are trying to get to Thorpe park for Exodus and Alton Towers for Nemesis 2.0
There are buses that take you from the airport directly to PortAventura too! That airport is actually used basically by people going to the park and not much else xd. In some years it's also planned to open a Tram-Train connecting the airport to nearby towns and obviously the resort :)
It's an amazing resort, and I definitely find this as one of my favourite theme parks out there, if not my favourite. I definitely agree that the food options aren't that great, but the good rides more than compensated for it!
Shambhala and Dragon Khan are it's own thing, Ferrari Land is it's own thing, Furius Baco is it's own thing. A lot of different themed sections to this entire place but that ride lineup is the always the main reason for me to go.
Shambala is NOT a "mega coaster", but it does have one of the best rides in the back car, especially the 1st drop. Great video, thanks for posting, especially the hotel info. I'll remember that in a year or two when I plan to go to Europe again.
I have been there for 4 days (including the arrival and departure day) in 2014, and we stayed in the western themed hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here and one perk of being a resort guest was that once bought, you could use your fastpass during the entire stay, so for 50€ we basically had four days of no lines. Does anyone know if it’s still like that?
As far as I know, now they give the basic express pass (just 1 express/ride) per each person staying in the hotels, and although that may be only with some kind of offer, I'm pretty sure it's the hotel policy they've got now.
Coming here today, gonna get there about 4:30. I only have one day at Ferrari land though (gonna be here for the next 3 days) so should I just go straight there and marathon red force (because it should be dead?) Ferrari land closes at 10 and portaventura at 6, so should I just knock out Ferrari land tonight?
You said something about running one train on their roller coasters during the off-season since it's not as busy. Could that mean that they run two or more trains during their peak seasons, indicating that the operations may be better than?
As noted in the comment, they sell a ton of Express passes in peak season, which causes the standby line to move at a slower rate. Not many people had them at Christmas.
That's not entirely accurate. The rides run 2-3 trains as often as possible. Problem is during winter the winds are so frequent, it's not feasible to run multiple trains in the vast majority of days. I generally go to the park in those days, and I am more surprised when I DON'T constantly hear the "Els informem que l'atracció Dragon Khan no pot funcionar a ple rendiment, degut a les adverses condicions meteorològiques" message repeated all around the park.
FUCK NO. It's my and a multitude of other native guests' favorite coaster. It's massive capacity makes it pretty frequent for operators to let the trains go for a second lap in less busy days.
I feel like if Universal take over and improve operations & food and add one more elite coaster and dark ride, an argument could be made for it being the best park in the world
My grandparents live in Cambrils, just a 20 minute drive from the park, so I have probably gone to PortAventura like a dozen times since I was a child. I have such a big attachment with it as it is a big part of my childhood, so I'm a bit biased, but I visited Euro Disney as a teen and I think it doesn't even hold a candle to PortAventura, unless you're a total Disney fanboy I guess.
Hi all! Many reviews i watch state that Woody Woodpecker is famous in Spain which is technically not true, it is "famous" only for being the mascot of PortAventura 😅 There is nothing outside the park not even in TV showing things related to Woody. I believe is a leftover from Universal's partial ownership that lets PortAventura have Woody as its mascot
yep, as a kif I literally thought that the park had invented the mascot and it appeared nowhere else, then my parents told me about an old series of cartoons staring him and I was mindblown xd
Europa Park wipes the floor with Portaventura and the visitors know how to queue up. Never seen any queue jumpers there whereas at Portaventura... well put it this way it needs dealing with badly.
I know it’s late but how early do I need to get to the station to make sure the Renee tickets don’t sell out and is the website the official one or a third party
I think the bigger thing is making sure you have enough time to buy the ticket and make it to the platform. I've bought them 10 minutes before the train departs and there were plenty of seats.
Ferrari land really does need another big coaster and a family coaster to be worth more than half a day of anyone's time. Portaventura park is a legitimately brilliant park. I feel it compares very favourably to Busch Gardens Tampa/ Williamsburg. I do think it could do with one more big coaster. Personally I feel that a large scale B&M invert or a B&M flyer (maybe in the Polynesia section?) would fit perfectly. Reliable, high capacity and world class attractions if the layout is done properly.
@dseggar RMC stampida would be cool but I think you'd be removing a mild thrill/family coaster which is something I think the park is short on as it is?
@@CanobieCoaster I've gone to all the water slides on Costa Caribe and damn, they're good. Just went a week ago and King Kahjuna is amazing. Do you think you could go there? Thanks and keep up the good work bro.
I think Polinesia getting a new ride would be a really nice option, as this and Mediterrania are the smallest areas of the park in terms of attractions (justified at Mediterrania though, as it is the nice restaurant and shop section).
While I loved the park (it's my 4th favorite in Europe), the biggest drawback for me was the single pathway that goes around the park. I've visited this park on busy days, and it was impossible to get from 1 side of the park to the other in any pace at all. There is just a single path going around the park, and in a lot of places it's not very wide. I'm sure this isn't as much of a drawback during a quieter day, but it really sucked for us.
When is the best time to visit Ferrari Land - apparently at the end of the day is quieter, but can you get a quick ride on Red Force at the start of the day?
Yes to both. On the start of the day the ride is easier to get in and and pick seats, to the point that the first time I went there I scored two front rides in a row.
Ferrari Land is getting new hours in 2023 where it will open in the afternoon and stay open later than the main park many days. That will likely impact the crowd distribution.
