This is a great discussion among highly educated historians.
As a big fan of both Drs Carrier and Bowen, I have to say at first I thought this panel was poorly booked. Carrier has written a dissertation and turned it into two whole books on the far more interesting era/region when the topic is science, compared to Dr Josh, who is an absolute knowledge bank on the prior era, but not specifically on science history.
Ironically, Dr. Carrier took it upon himself to include Dr Josh wherever he could in the first half -- total mensch move, and seemingly out of genuine curiosity.
Thankfully, Dr Josh is more engaged in the second half and the show moves along better with lots of laughs and even a visit from his killer Kent Hovind impression. Well worth a complete listen and so good to hear two of my faves together for the first time to my knowledge.
