(most likely story writing and screenplay) and Columbia pictures (owned by sony and possible who did the filming), and financed by TSG entertaiment (use to finance 20th century fox movies and after the Disney takeover TSG sued Disney for breach of contract), i'm quite sure this movie was one of those leftover deals Sony had with 20th century fox to develop movies in the Spider-man universe.

Exactly, the people creating the products are the ones to blame. IMO, this goes with AI as well. I don't think using AI in art is inherently problematic, but imagine two scenarios. In scenario 1, you have a group of artists genuinely passionate about their crafts, and they are keen to think of ideas about how AIs might improve certain parts of their work. In scenario 2, you have a group of corporate executives thinking about how to use AI to reduce costs and maximise profits. I would say that in scenario 1, AI can indeed have merits in the creative process.

A friend of mine teaches in a leading drama college. Over the past few years he's had to put up with diversity hiring, affirmative action, pronouns, not being able to use the words 'men' and 'women' when coaching a choir, the cancellation of Christmas (Winter Festival) and lots of other nonsense. He told me recently that his latest batch of students, many of them from ethnic minorities, say they are not interested in the 'woke s**t' and made a point of wishing him a Happy Christmas as soon as they walked out of the college, saying, 'at least they can't police what we say out here!'.

I actually had the privilege to work with Dakota in one scene of 50 Shades - it didn't make the final cut, unfortunately. But, she was simply a delight to work with, and I never felt as though I wasn't important during the morning we worked together. As a veritable nobody, it was a nice surprise to be treated so well by someone who knew she was going to be a big name.
We're getting somewhere though. They may have a ton of money but, this stuff isn't bringing any money back to them. It's unsustainable to keep taking these losses. No, it is not ending. It continues to be a threat to everything that came before in every Western country, but especially in several English speaking countries, not the US. How it affects the entertainment industry is a thing, but on the whole, having income, feeding the kids, etc, rate much higher. My bet is that no matter how Hollywood behavior changes, it will only change enough to stop losing money, while behavior in those English speaking countries may spiral to a very sad and permanent place.

My observation is that things tend to go from bad to worse and that when people have finally had enough, the movement recedes slightly, but continues in the background until the population is "ready" for it. Putting socially conscious messages in films isn't inherently evil. I don't cringe at Star Trek IV's whale message for example. Nemoy and Shatner were both passionate about saving the whales and protecting the environment, it wasn’t some tacked on forced virtue signal by soulless corporate executives trying to raise a social credit score. The public sentiment on wokeness has been changing, which is a great first step. It’s been brought about because some brave people were willing to speak publicly about it, and they brought it to the attention of those of us who were less politically aware. For the majority of Boomers, Gen x, and even millennials, wokeness is antithetical to the western values we were raised with, so we naturally reject it once we understand it. We can’t rest on our laurels though, the whole enterprise needs to be fully discredited; if it is allowed to continue in education and other institutions it will only be back in a generation; even more insidious than before.
Woke is not ending. It's temporarily retreating in some areas of life. In time it'll be back in perhaps a slightly different form. The HR managers that bought it in will mostly keep their jobs giving preference to their ilk in recruitment matters going forwards.

We had a bout of it in the 70s then in the 90s and then again in the 2010s into the 2020s and each time it's gained 'permanent' ground. Political Correctness movements ask for too much at their zenith, so you end up with 'overreach' which is what we have now, there will be some rollback but not as much as some would like. This is the way. The thing about woke now, is that in my life I have not seen it have such a high for so long, for it to be as powerful as it is, and for the overreach to be so strong and lasting. I do think each wave of woke has been stronger than the one before, so watch out for the next wave it may crush us, or hopefully we don't have any more as this is the last.
I've noticed this too. There has always been pushback, but the Overton window usually still shifts to the left's favor. For example, pre-Roe v. Wade, abortion was dominantly seen as morally wrong and just another form of murder, or at best a necessary evil to save a mother's life from eminent death. But since that decision, people have deluded themselves into believing it was a "constitutional right" and treating as a minor clinical "procedure" as long as you don't think about the tongs, dumpsters, and demographics involved. Of course the decision was overturned, but 50 years of this has turned into a much more normal thing with most states now allowing it with a collective amnesia, forgetting that another human life is involved. Enough that somehow, an invidual is not supposed to have a right to life, but does have rights to anything and everything that is less than equal.

If they could just use ESG funds to replace the money from the customers they scared off, there wouldn’t be a need to perform layoffs or for studios to shut down at all, because those actions insinuate a lack of income. The misconception that these studios don’t need the customers money because of their ESG backing has been proven wrong time and time again, and people need to stop peddling it. If these studios don’t start listening to their customers and are going to keep doubling down, then they are going to find themselves not existing for much longer when those customers become fed up and leave them.

(most likely story writing and screenplay) and Columbia pictures (owned by sony and possible who did the filming), and financed by TSG entertaiment (use to finance 20th century fox movies and after the Disney takeover TSG sued Disney for breach of contract), i'm quite sure this movie was one of those leftover deals Sony had with 20th century fox to develop movies in the Spider-man universe.

IMO, this goes with AI as well. I don't think using AI in art is inherently problematic, but imagine two scenarios. In scenario 1, you have a group of artists genuinely passionate about their crafts, and they are keen to think of ideas about how AIs might improve certain parts of their work. In scenario 2, you have a group of corporate executives thinking about how to use AI to reduce costs and maximise profits. I would say that in scenario 1, AI can indeed have merits in the creative process.
I think in the future woke will be seen for the sexist, racist behaviour it truly is. You don’t fight racism with racism and sexism with sexism. You fight them with equality not further (positive) discrimination.

My observation is that things tend to go from bad to worse and that when people have finally had enough, the movement recedes slightly, but continues in the background until the population is "ready" for it. Putting socially conscious messages in films isn't inherently evil. I don't cringe at Star Trek IV's whale message for example. What these people are doing is activism first, therefore blinds their creativity or they've been hired for DEI reasons and have no talent to begin with. The public sentiment on wokeness has been changing, which is a great first step. It’s been brought about because some brave people were willing to speak publicly about it, and they brought it to the attention of those of us who were less politically aware. For the majority of Boomers, Gen x, and even millennials, wokeness is antithetical to the western values we were raised with, so we naturally reject it once we understand it. We can’t rest on our laurels though, the whole enterprise needs to be fully discredited; if it is allowed to continue in education and other institutions it will only be back in a generation; even more insidious than before.
Woke is not ending. It's temporarily retreating in some areas of life. In time it'll be back in perhaps a slightly different form. The HR managers that bought it in will mostly keep their jobs giving preference to their ilk in recruitment matters going forwards.
It will only end when it is ended. It has to be made to happen.

We had a bout of it in the 70s then in the 90s and then again in the 2010s into the 2020s and each time it's gained 'permanent' ground. Political Correctness movements ask for too much at their zenith, so you end up with 'overreach' which is what we have now, there will be some rollback but not as much as some would like. This is the way.
The thing about woke now, is that in my life I have not seen it have such a high for so long, for it to be as powerful as it is, and for the overreach to be so strong and lasting. I do think each wave of woke has been stronger than the one before, so watch out for the next wave it may crush us, or hopefully we don't have any more as this is the last.

I've noticed this too. There has always been pushback, but the Overton window usually still shifts to the left's favor.
For example, pre-Roe v. Wade, abortion was dominantly seen as morally wrong and just another form of murder, or at best a necessary evil to save a mother's life from eminent death. But since that decision, people have deluded themselves into believing it was a "constitutional right" and treating as a minor clinical "procedure" as long as you don't think about the tongs, dumpsters, and demographics involved. Of course the decision was overturned, but 50 years of this has turned into a much more normal thing with most states now allowing it with a collective amnesia, forgetting that another human life is involved.
Enough that somehow, an invidual is not supposed to have a right to life, but does have rights to anything and everything that is less than equal.

As we’ve seen with the mass layoffs within Movie, gaming, and comic studios and multiple DEI-affiliated studios shutting down in spite of their access to ESG funding, the ESG funding they receive is finite. If they could just use ESG funds to replace the money from the customers they scared off, there wouldn’t be a need to perform layoffs or for studios to shut down at all, because those actions insinuate a lack of income.
The misconception that these studios don’t need the customers money because of their ESG backing has been proven wrong time and time again, and people need to stop peddling it. If these studios don’t start listening to their customers and are going to keep doubling down, then they are going to find themselves not existing for much longer when those customers become fed up and leave them.

You’re commenting on a video that discusses a topic that heavily involves the entertainment industry, a comments section full of people who are also talking mainly about the entertainment industry. That was the main point of discussion here from the start, so me focusing on it shouldn’t come as a surprise to you at all.
I hope you know that all you did here is show that you only read the video title of before making your comments. Perhaps you should pay attention to what’s being said and actually watch the video first before commenting.

You seem to purposely choose to be bent out of shape over me focusing on entertainment, while still ignoring WHY I’m focusing on entertainment despite the fact that I just told you why in the very comment you responded to. I’m focusing on Entertainment because that is the topic being discussed here from the very beginning, weather it be in the video your commenting under or this very comments section you are commenting in.
I’m focusing on entertainment because the discussion was already about entertainment, therefore I was making points relevant to the discussion that was being had. Me trying to focus on something else wouldn’t make any sense to the topic of debate and would be considered an attempt to derail or deviate the conversation, so I kept my comments relevant to the topic of discussion. It’s not that hard to comprehend.
And if that offends you or disturbs you so much that you have to continue to make an issue out of it like this, then perhaps you shouldn’t even be commenting here to begin with. Because as I have pointed out multiple times, everyone here is doing it, everyone here is focusing on entertainment, because the topic being discussed is about the entertainment industry. So if you can’t handle that, then leave. Nobody here is forcing you to continue engaging in this comments section, you are only forcing yourself.
The problem with this, like every discussion of "woke" is that it's ambiguous and can be applied to anything. You can't have a sensible conversation about a term as broad as what "woke" has come to be. If you want to have a conversation that makes sense, specify the things you don't like and say why you don't like them.

Its going to come in waves, although it will never achieve the dizzying heights of power it gained in 2020/21. The problem is that academia is infested with these people. The good news is that academia is failing and college degrees are becoming ever more irrelevant, ever more expensive. The end of wokeness as a major force will come only with further declines in traditional academia and declines in institutional trust.

I have a lot of respect for Dakota Johnson: it’s actually very brave (and incredibly refreshing) for her to lay the blame at the studio’s door rather than the usual blaming of fans. It’s brave because, considering how studios currently operate, she could potentially see role offers drying up - because she’ll undoubtedly be labelled “problematic”. Kudos to to her and I genuinely hope her (correct) opinion doesn’t harm her career.

I say it’s great for the mainstream to realize that defending a firm for progressive instead of entertaining like it is intended is wrong. I'd rather say it's a cultural wave coming from US (and whoever the globalizers are) that the western you are in Europe the more affected you are. There might be elements in eastern Europe too but they are far lesser and most people and even politicians don't buy as much into it. So I would expect US to be more infected than Europe whether it's dying or not. Eventually the Europeans will wake up seeing the damage done in nearby countries. Eventually people will figure it out.
