Great, now if only they could make it safe to walk around in Montreal. Traffic in Montreal is ridiculous. Nobody stops before turning even when pedestrians have a crossing signal, they just plow right through like they own the road. They don't care that someone is about to cross, or even is crossing. I almost got hit at every single intersection alongside the highway while hiking through Montreal, and I was wearing a heavy backpack and couldn't move that fast. I can only imagine that old folks are getting killed daily by Montreal drivers. Don't drivers in Montreal have to follow the same road laws as every other Canadian? Because they seem to thing they are the exception to the rule.

Pedestrians are second class citizens in the eyes of traffic planners across Canada and are seen as a nuisance by motorists. It's a very bad situation in Ottawa as well.

@@00bikeboy I actually had no problems walking around Ottawa, and I spent a few years there. I almost got hit by 30 cars in only 5 hours in Montreal because the drivers won't let people cross the street even when they have a walk light.

@@sylver369 I have no doubt that pedestrians are at more risk in Montreal than in Ottawa, my point is that because of car-centric road design and aggressive and distracted drivers, pedestrians face excessive risk everywhere.

Maybe sh should shut up and actually not talk about housing but attack the unsafe situations in the metro system

No ish, especially the way drivers in Montreal act like they own the road and nearly run people down when they're trying to cross the street.
