Thanks, that’s a nice down to earth advice for fellow RUclipsrs. Having defined your niche definitely helps stay focused in the long run and provides the audience ‘what it says on the tin’ value. Good luck everyone making content with passion, 🚀
My niche, walking tours of out of the way villages, regional cities, towns, and suburbs. Which include the local hospital, the churches, the train station, fire station schools etc. Not focusing so much on downtown or tourist attractions, I do however film them from time to time.
Really good video and strategy that any channel can get takeaways from regardless of their niche👏🏼. I just stated my channel in November and really happy with my growth so far. At 118 subscribers as of today and almost 10k views and super thankful for each one. I love creating content and it makes me so happy people are enjoying it. Good luck with your channel in 2024 and keep it up. You got a sub from me 😊🙌🏼
@@LofiNeonNights good luck :) You got this! It helps to outline our goals so we know what we're working towards :) Let me know when you reach it. Exciting times ahead :)
On the point of making shorts to drive traffic to long form videos: it doesn't work well. It's a different audience and the conversion rate is very low
I find that I don't have "viral" shorts. They're more niche and because of that, they are targeting the right people. At least for now, I have low numbers on my shorts but the people who subscribe from there, seem to want to see more. It's a super interesting space.
@@Mersoh that's a great point. My "trick" is writing my scripts so that I can quickly edit a short out of it. When the shorts for this video come out, you will see that it hardly involved any work from my side. But, I always spend waaaaaaaaaay more time on the long from video than on the short.
@@MargueriteFaureVideography I thought shorts that solely exist to drive traffic to long form content were no longer ok according to the new guidelines? I don't know exactly where they draw the line but I've heard several creators giving up on shorts because they weren't allowed to do that anymore
@@Mersoh that's interesting to hear because when you upload shorts these days you have the option of linking them to a larger piece of content should someone wish to see more. Let me know about which guidelines you're referring to and I'll check them out 🤗
Trust me, I didn't want to and I didn't for 3 years... But more than one channel allows me to narrow down on each topic that I am passionate about. In the past I had a whole bunch of different niches on one channel and it really didn't help that channel.
Do you use video editing services being that you are releasing several videos per week on multiple channels? If so which do you use and recommend? Also great video!
Thank you so much for your comment and encouragement :) I edit all my own videos. However, as I explained in this video, many of the videos on this channel are videos that used to be on my "main" channel. I used to have all my content in one place, but now I have created new channels so that my videos fit in a specific niche. I never believed in niching down, but the rate at which this channel is growing shows just how helpful it is to niche down. What are your RUclips goals for 2024?
oh wow that's awesome :). And my goals are to become a full time multimedia/genre artist using youtube as my base for growing my following@@MargueriteFaureVideography

I don't think anyone else has come out and say that they write their videos with shorts also in mind. Great tip!

@@MargueriteFaureVideography That makes sense. I do wonder if the time it takes to do shorts is worth taking away from long form content though

I would rather bookmark channels than follow . You can't keep up with 100 channels so it doesn't help channels if you don't watch ?
That's a super cool strategy. I haven't thought of doing that :)
What do you mean by “bookmark” ?
