    I use rose water as makeup remover and toner too - the recipes I have for making rosewater are far more complex as they are basically distillation processes where you have to collect the steam and condense it, so this recipe is much more achievable at home! Xx

    Question about the shelf-life: can you put the rest in the freezer and than take it out and use it for a week?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  5 лет назад +10

      Because of the water it only has a shelf life of a week in the fridge. You could freeze and take out when needed actually. That is a great idea.

    Beautiful video! If you would like pure rose water with longer shelf life then I would suggest to prepare rose water in a pot with petals, water and a small bowl inside kept on a stand. Put the lid on the pot inverted, so that the depth of the curve is on top of the bowl. When the water starts boiling the steam is collected on the inverted lid and then it flows down to the bowl inside. You can put some ice on the lid from the outside so the steam cools faster. This way you get pure, distilled rose water (no color), amazing fragrance and NO REFRIGERATION needed. This is how I do it everytime and get wonderful results. I hope you give it a try!

      @@FairylandCottage Hello! Thank you! I am a new subscriber, I enjoy your channel very much!
      I wait until the flower is finished, and pull the flower petals and seeds straight out, separate the seeds from the dried petals, steep, strain & decant into a spritzer bottle, as you have done with rose petals. :)
      possibly the fresh petals would be better, but they separate easily when the flower has dried.
      It is kept chilled and doesn't last long because it is very hot in summer here, and the cool mist feels lovely. :)

    I made some rosewater a while back, I used a dozen red roses that my son gave me. the peddles were simmered for about 40 min. The water ended up being a very deep red. I've placed it in a jar and keep it in my frig. but what do I do with it now? does it need to be diluted? all the rosewater I see is a pale color. do I apply it after washing my face? does it get left on or wiped off? Applied with a cotton ball or only spayed on?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  4 года назад +1

      heather weber you did everything perfect. The only reason it is dark in colour is because you steeped for a long time. You don’t have to dilute. You can just spray on your face or use on a swab. It doesn’t need to be wiped off as it is a toner and closes the pores on face.
      I have another idea for you if you like....
      Put the rose water in a water ice cube tray and use individually. It will last longer cause frozen and it will be nice and cold for face

    Oh no, I have made rose water and been using it out of the fridge in a spray bottle for about a month with some essential oil mixed in. What happens to the rose water after a week? I will look at it again and see if it smells strange. Thanks!

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  5 лет назад +1

      when products are made with water and no preservative then the bacteria comes into the water very quickly.... once it smells ok it is fine and keeping in the fridge helps because bacteria need heat to grow...

    I have no access to scented roses this time of year in the US. Do you have any recommendations for buying it?
    I just want something simple, but most seem to be a TINY bit of actual rose water diluted with loads of cheap artificial ingredients.

    • @FairylandCottage

      yes it is hard this time of year to get scented roses... some good quality rose water can be found in a health store...

      Tracey Lawrance not really but there are anti microbials. One is grapefruit seed extract and the other is rosemary extract.

    Thank you. I'm a new subscriber been watching all the way back ! May I ask where you got your linen sheets / bedding I've been looking but it's so expensive. Also how come you have a videographer, was wondering if that was your other half 🤔 otherwise I was thinking must be so expensive. Just asking because I want to make more videos (different topic) so I'm always looking out for pretty videos. Blessings xx

      Julie P ah welcome welcome my new friend!
      I found the linen sheets by fluke in tkmaxx. Much cheaper than I have seen elsewhere. I follow magic linen on Instagram and they have lovely sheets! I’d need to save up for them though!
      My other half does the camera. He just started doing them in January.
      Good luck to you if you make videos. It’s a very creative enjoyable process.
