I've been driving an '04 SI EP3 with a K24A2 on the stock K20A3 ECU for about 5,000 miles so far, runs just OK, but it seems a bit rich. Maybe, Santa will bring me a standalone ECU.

Wow that’s a big difference between motors. I hope data comes with one 😂 The cam profiles are nothing alike. K24a2 has true vtec on both cams. K20a3 has only 1 vtec cam. You could have drop a k24 from an accord, element or crv and it’d ran the same style head and been pretty good, safe and you’d had more torque. But… you have 2 options to make it run better kpro would be best & easiest or get a stock type s prb from an 02-04 rsx type s and run the k tuned immobilizer or get an ecu with matching key or have your key programmed to it. You will be happier when you get to use the power, hope you were nice not naughty 👿 and maybe someone will get you one

The VTC can’t get to where it needs to be having a 25 degree instead of the 50 degree 37 was the most I saw on the stock prb map. But it wasn’t at the higher rpms. The ecu will still try to give it timing and fuel for the vtc setting it can’t get to and it seemed to run rich. It’s all up to the owners what they want to do. If the stock oil pump is left in the k24a2 I’d shift b4 the rev limiter.

@Mc norm, Unfortunately not, the k20a2 pistons are 86mm bore where the k24 is 87mm bore. You can use the accord k24 with the non true vtec with the k20a3 ecu since it’s non true vtec as well. As for putting the a3 head on it…. I’d imagine it wouldn’t benefit since they are similar. I’m not 100% sure since I don’t use those but in stock cars I sell. The k20a2,k20z1,k20z3 and k24a2(from tsx) all have true vtec and similar pistons and can interchange the heads. The k20a3,k24a4 etc are non true vtec with different style pistons. Hope that helps

I have ran both, I try I try to use all k24 or all k20, water pump housing, etc for alternator. I have had slight variations with alternators as well. Ac does not matter so far and I’ve done them every which way. You can use whichever compressor that you need, like yours is a RSX so you’d use a 1 wire RSX or ep3 compressor. Not the 3 wire in others. Jdm accessories won’t work, must be changed to Tsx or RSX but they probably already did with delete kit. I have use a tsx alt on a rsx water housing and vice versa but it doesn’t fit just right. You got to finagle or use a washer but not the end of world. Just easier to do it right with alternator that matches water pump house and again ac compressor doesn’t matter, use the one you need. Hope that helps, been on vacation sorry for late response

They do but for it to run right, the computer in a base rsx automatic will run a k24 from an accord, element, or crv but not the k24a2 from tsx. The tsx k24a2 has true vtec on both cams like a k20a2,z1,z3. The rsx base k20a3 has the same single vtec cam like the accord element and crv. So is you have a base rsx automatic you can use the 03-07 accord k24, element or crv and the computer will run it pretty good. But it will not run the tsx k24a2 or any true vtec engine properly without the risk of damage. Hope that helps

Use the k24a2 timing chain components and on the oil pump use the k20z1 oil pump chain components. Pump, chain, windage, tray. I have used both k24 and k20 oil chain guides and tensioners. The oil chain tensioner seem to be same with slight differences from different manufacturers. The k24 oil chain guide and others with balance shaft oil pumps is a little longer. But I’ve been running it like that on my mr2 for 2 years and 2 other RSX. • @i4boosting328

You can’t put that motor in that car without spending a substantial amount of money. The stock ecu is no where near compatible like the type s rsx ecu. Type s, and tsx are true vtec engines. The one in your car is a single side vtec only on 1 cam. You would have to buy an aftermarket ecu that can run an automatic. A full stand alone or possibly Hondata since they started using the automatic ecu’s but idk what it will actually do once it’s done. You will have to call hondata and see if that’s possible I haven’t checked into it. Just like with the older ecu’s we use them but they no longer control the automatic trans. I’m not sure about the newer ones I’ve never tried or asked since we do not use automatics. You can drop in a k24 from a accord, crv, or element and those are single sided vtec and can work with you stock ecu. They are the same horsepower but have more torque. Hope that helps!

The k24a2 only comes in the tsx, you can drop it in a base model 5 speed with a hondata ecu, it’s the automatic that’s the problem. I put them in a lot other vehicles. I have one in my civic and my Toyota MR2. Probably bout to put one in my s2000. The closest drop in for a replacement would be a k24a1 and a k24a4 from accord crv or element. You would change the same stuff I did in this video. I’d only do the swap if your engine is broken, those are great daily driver cars but if you want to make more tunable power get a 2002-2004 manual 5 or 6 speed rsx. You can have a hondata which cost ($700-$1000) put on the ecu and add turbo or super charger or whatever you budget allows. A k24a2 ranges from $800-1500 depending on miles and shipping then $700-1200 labor. A k24a1 or a4 is usually $400-900. You can also pick one up in a pull a part for $300

What would be a ballpark estimate of the cost for the parts and labor in Georgia ?
What are the positives or negatives if I go this route ?
      -----
      OPTION 3
Is there an “ Option 3 “ that will get me more torque on Low-End MPH and noticeable WHP ?
      ----
If I could get at least 250 - 280 WHP ( with a super charger or a turbo ), I would be happy.
Please keep in mind that I am not trying to race other cars. I am just wanting to get noticeable torque at the Low-End MPH for that extra “ punch “ at take-off, and for the car to be a bit more zippy and fun.
I have had this car for 16 years. Looks new, sounds good, but is slow.
Please reply here on RUclips if you decide to email me. This way I can look for your email.

      Thanks in advance.

I’m in a pinch cause I just blew up my k20a2 (lol) would this setup be able to run reliably for a couple months ? with the rsx base map, are the afr’s “safe” and what’s the redline for this new setup ? Thanks !

If you put the type s oil pump redline will be the same. The 25 degree vtc and oil pump is the difference. The combustion chambers are so close as well as the cams. Unless you get a 06-08 tsx motor and the cams are better. The main this is the redline and vtc. The timing and fuel will be off in the mid range area and will need a k pro ASAP or some other engine management. Several people I know have putted around for months and months with it. The only ones I know that have had problems are the one that end up thinking ehh it’s fine then start dogging on it! I have to advise against it of course but I have ran them on personal vehicles and have swapped k20a2 vtc cam gear and cams into k24 so ecu can have the 50 degree vtc BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT VTC NOT BEING PINNED AND GOING TO FAR! It’s a possibility not saying it will happen. I’ve never experienced it but didn’t race that motor. Whatever you decide it’s at your own risk ⚠️ but I’ve done both with no problems under regular driving

We did water pump to add the oil cooler to the back but you don’t have to. Alternator wire and plug are in different location so it was better for the prb intake but does not have to be used:

Is it worth to k24a2 swap a 06 base rsx auto?

    • @i4boosting328
      @i4boosting328  2 года назад

Simple answer, no. . It’d cost a good amount of money to do. But… you can drop in a k24a4 from accord, crv, or element. They have the same style cam profile ( 1 single lobe cam, 1 vtec cam) and would be more compatible with stock ecu. You would gain torque but no horsepower power. That’s a decent( better than stock) replacement engine if needed to be replaced. The k24a2 is very similar to the prb ecu and type s motors k20a2,z1 and the k24a4 is similar to the pnd ecu like yours k20a3 and a6. The main difference is the k24’s have a 25 degree vtc gear instead of 50 degree like the k20’s

All vss 02-04 rsx and 02-05 ep3 uses same style sensor on back of transmission above differential).
05-06 rsx and 06-11 si civic use a different one (on front of transmission)
If your not using same style/year transmission you will need a converter from k tuned or rewire how vtec academy shows.
If you are using same year/style then you have a bad sensor, ground, or signal.
